Gypsy-Rose Blanchard (born July 27, 1991) is an American who was convicted of second-degree murder for the death of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, and sentenced to ten years in prison. Following her mother's death, Blanchard gained international notoriety, and her story was eventually adapted into a Hulu limited series, The Act (2019).
She was released on parole in December 2023, after serving eight years. Following her release, Blanchard has become an advocate for victims of factitious disorder imposed on another, previously called Munchausen syndrome by proxy (MSbP) and has made numerous media appearances changing her story during each interview.

Charles Manson had the same bogus claim. It’s a very manipulative statement. It seems that many of her fans/apologists likely allow the child-like voice to fool them. Her mother’s abuse likely led to Gypsy’s potential sociopathy-as similar abuse in other people, historically, helped to lead many a killer to commit atrocious crimes. She’s not impervious because she’s “girly”.

You know what drives me crazy about her "I'm not the one who did it"? She is the reason it happened. Take her out of the equation, and her mother is alive. I'm not saying there wasn't justification. It just seems like she isn't taking any of the accountability that she spoke of.

Are you kidding me? Look at what her Mother did do her. She was kept in a wheelchair and not even allowed to walk. Her Mom put her through hell. She wasn't allowed to walk or do anything normal. Her Mom needed help. I'm not sure how Noone detected it before....all the behavior her Mom displayed. Gypsy never had a normal life. The Mother did horrible Horrific things. The Child wasn't even allowed to swallow food. Her Mom had Doctors thinking Gypsy needed a feeding tube. She wasn't allowed any of the simple pleasures of life. Her teeth fell out because of the unessacary medicine. She had a feeding tube . Unessacary....She was even given Chemo for Cancer she never even had. She's a Product of everything that happened to her. I don't feel bad that the Mother was Killed at all. I'm not surprised. Her Mom did this for Attention and Social Security Money and money and gifts and House was given to Them because of Gypsy appearing to be sick.

@@whendis.roberts9903. Exactly. I’m not a callous person, by any means, but I don’t think the world has suffered any great loss, here. DeeDee told everyone Gypsy was sick and she made her sick, with all that medication. I take prednisone and took pain medication, for years and I have lost teeth, will lose more and may have to have a feeding tube, from all the side effects. No one whose life is not in danger should ever be given life-saving medications. No one without pain, who can function, should be made to take pain meds. DeeDee also told everyone Gypsy was not going to make it to adulthood. She may well have been planning to make that happen, too. It’s not at all uncommon for people with Munchausen’s to take the victim’s life. It’s the logical conclusion, when someone has a terminal illness. Would DeeDee have allowed her fraud to be revealed, or would she “take care of the problem “? It doesn’t take a genius to see that Gypsy was in real danger.

I have sympathy for what Gypsy went through with her mother. What I can’t stand is that she takes ZERO RESPONSIBILITY for her mother’s murder. It was Gypsy who convinced Nicholas to kill her mother by telling him they couldn’t be together as long as she is alive. Nicholas has Asperger’s, and if it weren’t for her he would’ve never murdered her mother. I think Gypsy is a manipulator, learning that from her mother. And make no mistake, she is basking in all this attention. @@regallylola5673 You haven't looked into all the facts to the case. Stop going off of "the act" and do some real damn research. Stop spewing this narrative thats a full, out lie from the murderer's mouth herself. Please. She tells a different story depending on which way the wind is blowing that day. The fact that this girl has never really taken full accountability for brutally murdering her mom should be enough for anyone to see this wasn't a case of her fearing anything. She took years to manipulate a mentally diminished man by ways of sex and promises of a wonderful life, all while setting him up. She had the bubblemailers ON her to mail the knife AND GLOVES right back to Nick's house. She even told him prior to the murder in texts that he doesn't even really need to wear the gloves because she intends on "sinking it" .. aka she wanted his DNA all over everything and when he said I will still wear gloves she just said f*** it, lets throw the gloves in with the knife too! just to be sure his dna is somewhere! MHm.Mhmhm. Go read the Greene County Sherriff Departments PDF on her. Go watch the manipulative, completely lying interrogation of hers. Watch the 1 hour and 30 minutes of bragging she does to the cop outside the door before the interrogation even starts. Where btw she mentions doing things like swimming with dolphins and RUNNING UP AND DOWN MAINSTREET at DISNEY on a sugar high. ( but momma wouldnt allow her to walk in public or consume sugar.. interesting) Go read about how she left the house several times on her own in wigs. She has her very own bus pass to do just that. Go read about how all the BDSM things came from Gypsy and NOT Nick to begin with. There is so many things I can go on about. But if you've looked into all that and you're still saying this.. you're being willfully ignorant to a full blown premeditated murderer. That is sick. Even if we are to believe any type of abuse happened, how is that ever an excuse to murder your mom while she slept, then have sex in the room right next to her still warm, bleeding body. Willingly after shaving her private parts for him during the murder. ( the abuse could never be verified because only gypsy spoke of this and no evidence of ties or ropes or dog chains were found in that house..) The medicine? You mean the medicine cabinet that is FULL of medications, the same medicine bottles over and over again. Wanna know why they have such a back stock of medicine? SHE WASNT TAKING ANY OF IT. The incompetence papers were never found to be real at all. She knew is she just stood all of her mom's own credibility would of went out the window. STOP making excuses for her. Everybody does and I have no idea why. I guess when you don't go through it yourself you can't see when someone is manipulating you right infront of your own eyes. I feel bad for you and your future relationships. I hope they go well and you don't end up getting hurt.

One of the more disheartening lessons in my life is that being a victim and taking a bad way out makes you a hero, while doing the right thing could leave you very alone in the world. As a child, I suffered severe physical and mental abuse as well as neglect from my mother. I spent much of my childhood living on the streets, scavenging for food and shelter. When I wasn't homeless, I was severely physically abused. Broken ribs, broken jaw, severe head trauma, etc. I didn't kill my mother. My father, who lived out of state and hardly ever saw me, refused to believe me about any of this. Then my niece, who my dad had met only once, killed my half brother and his wife (her mom and dad). My brother was my dad's son, if that wasn't clear. My dad touted my prisoner niece as some role model for her minor jailhouse achievements, held up as contrast to me throughout my life. That is, until he helped get her get paroled and she scr*wed him over, as I had silently predicted. After that, he quietly shelved his praise of her. Gypsie is another example of a person who is being treated awfully well for doing something extremely bad. Kind of unfair to victims who don't hurt others, not to mention a dangerous example that could encourage more people to "wake up and choose violence."

Someone, anyone - other than manipulating online men/boys into killing her mom. She wasn't mentally impaired and knew right from wrong. If she'd spoken up to an authority figure or adult, most likely her mother, DeeDee, would've ended up serving time or mental institution. So what, if the frontal cortex of the brain is still developing...we send 18 year olds into battle for the military, allow 21 year olds to drink, and 16 year olds are having babies, on & on. No excuse. Good and bad decisions are made daily & it doesn't lead to murder. We all can empathize with Gypsy by knowing she did suffer for her entire childhood by a manipulative, greedy, mentally unstable mom but nothing justifies premeditated, cold-blooded matricide. Factitious disorder imposed on another (previously called Munchausen syndrome by proxy) is when someone falsely claims that another person has physical or psychological signs or symptoms of illness, or causes injury or disease in another person with the intention of deceiving others.

The girl who escaped being held captive and raped for years, wrote a book, tried to become a new person who helped others could probably mentor her better than the weird guy who married her as a struggling prisoner with "exes" already in her prison experience.

I believe Gypsy is going down the same path as her mother. A manipulator and an opportunists. Before leaving prison she planned to make money and court the media to bring attention to herself once again. Purely for money. Some may argue that she deserved to make money because of her mother's treatment towards her. How many children have had dreadful lives where they have had no escape from their abuse? They stayed silent and hoped one day to be free of their cruel parents. Not Gypsy. She murdered her mother instead. Gypsy isn't as innocent as she says she is. It is strange that when held "hostage" by her mother she knew how to go on dating sites. How did she learn there were dating sites? She did run away one time and that takes courage. However she decided to run away with a man instead of running away to a police station. She has no respect or regard to the autistic young man's family who have to see her promoting herself as not just a victim by her mother but a victim to this young man. The parents are silenced by Gypsy"s narrative and have to suffer in silence.

I agree 💯, some people are saying we’re to judgmental on her but is not. There’s valid criticism to made and point out certain troubling things she’s been saying throughout these interviews which i think she’s digging her own grave even more. Because she contradicts herself in a lot of these interviews without her even knowing it. Social media will be her downfall.

@@user-jg2yj5yf1z it’s horrible & sad. She manipulated an autistic guy into murdering her mom, then tried to pin everything on him- plus some. I felt I’ll when I watched her interrogation & heard her tell the officer that Nick raped her, threatened her, and was abusing her before he (according to her) on his own accord, went to murder her mother. She dropped Nick (her patsy) as soon as she could. SMH…

Disappointed in this. "Feel sorry for me, I had to kill my mother" isn't all that different from, "Feel sorry for me, my child is sick". Both are sly, deliberate and manipulative attention-seekers who take no responsibility for their actions while pleading victimhood.

@@TheBehaviorPanel But I don’t think Scott excuses Gypsy’s murderous choice. At least, *I hope not!* 😬 She DID have better choices, as a woman of nearly age 24 at the time, that would’ve allowed Gypsy to be well-protected, as her evil mother was publicly revealed and properly prosecuted. Those legal actions would’ve also allowed Gypsy to avoid any incarceration for herself…and the lifetime of imprisonment (until death) for Nick-an autistic young man that she convinced-until the very last moment at the front door-to murder her mother from a supposed place of soulmate love. 🙄 Gypsy is the absolute epitome of a master manipulator, as further seen in her media tour and planned reality show. It’s just a gross display. 😒

She knew she could walk, she knew she was intelligent, she carried out plenty of relationships and nsfw activities. She wasn’t clueless or helpless. Her mother was very ill at the end and was spending most of her time in bed and couldn’t get around. Gypsy made a choice and it wasn’t out of desperation. Not saying she wasn’t a victim but she’s a lot more deceptive than people think. This is just her second act.

@wednesdaymonroe because medical records that are being shown state that gypsy herself refused to eat and was taken to hospital where she was monitored it states that she had aversion to food and at the last resort the hospital consultant put in a feeding tube. Plus. I think gyspy was well aware what mom was doing by scamming money . She admits laughingly in her reality series that ...she. . Has never paid for anything ... giggle .. Laugh .. Plus gyspy has a chromosome disorder and many of the surgeries that dee dee agreed to were to help gyspy look better .. hear better .. see better . Not saying dee dee was a Saint but lots of the medical evidi3nce shows that they were done out of need . And the mauchhausen by proxy was floated by gypsy defence lawyer to make her look more the victim . Go look at other channels . hope that helps

I am so torn over this whole thing. I was sexually abused as a child by my father, yet didn't kill him and I was also physically abused by my first husband, yet didn't kill him either. But, at the age of 60, I am finally realizing how damaged I actually am from this treatment growing up. I can't even imagine what she went through and what damage that has done to her, but her attitude of "I didn't kill my mom" aggravates me. I don't care who physically killed her mother. She was the driving force and her boyfriend probably would have never killed anyone without her pushing him. And she said her other boyfriends said they would have gone to the police. She was an adult. Why didn't she go to the police?

She knew that she could walk all the time, she has told in interviews that there was no physical violence until she was 19 and she was 24 at the time of the murder. Nick tried to convince her not to do it, but she stuck with it and threatened him that she would leave him if he wouldn't do it. And she also had a "dark" persona that she herself called "Ruby"... She had other options than killing her mother.
