Madara was just toying with the shinobi alliance/kage/hokage/and all team 7. Only character to truly reach BOSS level of GOAT. He could have ended them at any point but he loved the thrill of the fight and seeing what worth others had. Ultimately he was not evil at heart but tired of the sick reality that took all from him

That comment "He lost to the first Hokage" was my same thought when I first watched this. Im pro-Hashirama as well but the series wasted him and never gave him any scenes like this one to back up the fact that he's a damn strong ninja. He had moments of display to show how powerful he is but those were like seconds. He got overshadowed by Madara so much lol.

Hashirama greatest fights were with Madara. Madara just ultimately ended up being stronger and even his final fight before he went into shadows in the valley was orchestrated for him to get hashirama senju dna as he was aware the senju and Uchiha originated from the same bloodline and only uniting the two would he get rinnegan so he fought hashirama and stole his dna under disguise of battle. He planned hashirama to believe he was dead after the battle so he could work in the shadows without interference as his friend held different world views. Madara was a pessimist/realist and hashirama an optimist. His eyes could be programmed to bring him back which he did before the fight confirming he intended for hashirama to be fooled. Hashirama gave everything in the fight and Madara made sure there was no doubt so he could carry out his plan that would take generations to fulfill .

One of the best fights in anime!!! Madara's majestic flame jutsu was so powerful a dozen of water user shinobi was needed to block it. Also, to add a power difference, even tho the five kage was beaten the hell up by Madara you gotta respect their efforts to even last that long fight, no shinobi at that time could've lasted that long haha. Mizukage was able to block madaras majestic flame all by herself. That's actually a feat, this is Madara we're talking about hehe 💯
