This is a tutorial on how to install SPD clips on your indoor cycling shoes for spinning. I use the Nike SuperRep Cycle shoe as an example, but all indoor spin shoes (Shimano, Pearl Izumi, Garneau, Gavin, Giro) will be the same process. The only tool you'll need is a 4mm Hex wrench for the screws.

I'm a witness to that. I purchased a Bowflex C6 bike and cleats were included to my surprise. The instructions to install were general because shoes were not included. I purchased the Nike SuperRep cycle shoes, and as you stated, no instructions on how to install.

Is that plastic backing common?? Schwinn support couldn't even tell me what it was for but a lot of people told me they threw it away and it was just for shipping!

It's not common, and not necessary, I jhaven't seen it included with any other clips, but I just included it for extra protection between the cleat and the shoe.

Question, I know you mentioned to only tighten them by hand, but how tight should they be? I feel that I tightened mine pretty good, but it's my first time using clip in shoes and after my workout I had trouble taking them out the peddle until I watched another RU-vid video, but now I've noticed that the clips twisted a bit on the shoes, is that normal, or should I tighten them a bit more?

I recommend tightening them pretty tight, or else the clips will twist like you said and be hard for you to get off shoe off the pedal. The clips should not twist at all when you get off the bike.

Hi @Jeremiah, the clips I used in the video are from the Schwinn IC4 bike which were included, so I'm not sure what brand they are. I check the model number on them and they are JD-00. Will these shoes work for road biking? I currently use SPD cleats on my road shoes.

Yeah, they would work for that too. However the bottom of the shoe has fabric like material, so I don't know how long that would last if you were to use them for road.

It went together easily in less than an hour. ru-vid.comUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
