I agree with his decision. Why risk pitching again, if pitching is what caused his elbow injury which required the Tommy John surgery. Let him continue as the Designated Hitter where he's certainly made an outstanding contribution to the Dodgers team!
For WHAT REASON does he NOT want to be a pitcher? I can understand why he would NOT want to be - but WHAT IS THIS reason? Would someone pls explain this!
Naw. Even pitching part-time, he'd risk another elbow injury (like so many other pitchers). He pushes himself too hard to just pitch part-time - he'd probably push himself too hard and risk another elbow injury. His contribution to the Dodgers as their Designated Hitter is more than enough - and the only risk is breaking more bats (and he's already broken ten in his career).
For what "reason" does he NOT want to be a pitcher again? Is it because of the injury when playing for the Angels that required the Tommy John surgery, which he's still recovering from?
I think the Dodgers want him to be The Best at whatever he's doing - and pitching AND hitting conflict. He can't be The Best at Both - and hitting is more important and he doesn't risk injuries like he would if he were pitching. And it's soooo exciting to watch him hit that ball to the moon - and HEAR that bat hitting the ball to the moon sounds like a cannon!
