Since the payment was to be collected through card, it is a clear indication that management of pump is also involved. Otherwise it does not benifit the guys filling petrol.

Ni, ni that's not the cases in many pumps. They just check, if the collected money is equal to the fuel sales per day. They don't go over each and every transaction as it's in the range of hundreds. These scammers simply keep ₹500 from the collected cash and the numbers are still alright so nobody notices.

I think that's the sector 16 one...in front of Sector 9. They are the known fraudsters & doing this for many years. Indian Oil Petrol pumps are infamous about such practices & that's why I always prefer company owned Bharat Petroleum petrol pumps. For some reason I always got great service from them, no scams/skipping etc at all

We own petrol pumps. So if you ever have any doubt when fuelling, you have the right to ask the manager to check the automation machine. Every Indian Oil Petrol pump in India has an automation machine which stores all the transaction. And as the server is connected with the main server of Indian Oil, we can't manipulate the machine. You can see which pump nozzle has dispensed the amount of fuel, the time. If the manager doesn't allow you to see, you can call the Pumps regional sales manager. The number is displayed on a consumer right banner. Thank you, happy fuelling 🙏

I think automobiles industry should work on providing the clear indication on the volume of fuel present in the vehicle and that was added recently that can help consumer compare easily if they received the same volume of fuel as shown in the fuelling machine. I don't believe this is even that difficult to implement when we can implement ADAS features in the car. This should be forced by Govt to implement this in every car as BS norms. Like if you agree with this solution to avoid such scams.

The petrol pump is directly involved in the scam because the payment is via card & it will go the owner's account. This amount is then distributed among employees & (~50%) is taken by owner.

But then it was closed because of their practices. Now after so many years it is reopened, and guess what, they are at it again 🤦🏻‍♂

Sabse easy way to avoid this scam is that.......Always get out of car with keys in hand instead of sitting in car and get fuel filled and always look toward the fuel machine....be attentive.....

That's why you should never sit in the car when you fill up the car with fuel. Always get out and keep a keen eye on the attendant and the pump, even when they try to distract you.

Same thing happened with me, told him to fill for 2.5K. I said it twice, once in English and once in Kannada. He even saw the cash I had in hand. Started the pump and started to talk bullshit with me, trying to be all friendly n shit. Filled for 500, and is asking me “you wanted for 500 right?”. Then and there I knew what he was trying to do. I said yes, just 500. Gave 500 from 2500 I had right in front of him and left. This happened opposite Salarpuria Global mall, Indian oil petrol bunk, Nayandahalli, Bengaluru.

That's all you can do, make them regret the scam. Nothing else can be done because management owner everyone is involved. So instead giving them more sales just pay the initial amount and leave to never return to that fuel station ever.

I always get down my car. Stand right in front of them, look at what they are entering and poke them there and then, before they start fueling. It requires too much alertness in petrol pumps.

One of the scariest experiences i have on this, - i was pretty young at the time, 18 years i guess (now double)- I took my bike to fill petrol [Bangalore, some place], and i observered a similar scam. I started arguing. All the workers (all involved), came to check what is happening, and they told me that they will kill me if i called the police and they had my bike number. For many months it was traumatic experience for me.

The better way to deal with this is to pay the quoted 500 and drive to a different fuel station. This scam is wide spread in Bangalore too. Thankfully, I had my action cam recording when this was about to happen with me. Since then I always asked for receipt from the filler to make sure I pay for exactly what I am getting.

The management is always involved. Give it a thought. The person is paying via card, not cash. All payments would be credited directly to the pump and not the employees. The excess/fraud amount will then be divided amongst the employees.

exact same has happened with me. I asked for full - they stopped at 500 and then continued from 500 and added 500 in that total bill. Had a really nice argument and I was also recording all the conversation + footage from dashcam. It happened on IOC pump with me. Finally the guy agreed when he saw the dashcam and begged me to not complaint

What I do while refueling is, I always come out of car before attendant presses the fuel hose. Second, never tell the amount of fuel to be filled. Stop the hose when near to our target amount/quantity.

Management is always involved. Employee has no incentive. I once caught them red-handed. Went to the manager, he slapped the employee and asked him to apologize. Nothing after that. Better to file a written FIR.

It happened with me too and it happens at Indian Oil Petrol pumps the most and specially at Highways where you are traveling long distance and generally full tank your car, you maybe tired. If the attendant is trying to be sweet, talks too much about your vehicle or about your trip, it is a Bait. Beware.

I got scammed where they take your card and show you that the network connection failed, so you need to re enter your pin. Charged twice to the card. I realised this was a scam when I went back later to the station asking for reversing the extra amount and was given cash by one of the operators without even checking the details. He just asked me to leave and not go to the managers.

Exactly same thing happened with me. I asked for tank full. Then he filled only for 300 rs. Then he did tank full and asked me for 300 + money on meter. I know how to escape. I always go for full tank as soon as it goes on reserve. And it gets refueled within 2900-3100 depending on when i am getting refueled. He asked for 3500. He got caught, apologized. Since was in different state, i didnt create chaos. So, take my advice. Go for tank full as soon as it goes on reserve. After 5-6 refills, you will get fair idea about when it will be auto cutm

Happened with me 🥺😅 when i was the 1st customer in morning🌄bola ki ham 5liter petrol MEASURE and TESTING kar rahe he . But i told ki pehle tum kisi dusre ka petrol bhar do i will wait for 20minutes 😂😁

Management involved hoti hai, workers are foot soldiers. Aur waise bhi card machine se owner ke account me jaate hai paise. Workers ke pocket me nahi.

Just complain to the Gas company with the evidence and the area manager will take care of this. He will also touch base with you to understand the issue and act on it

Bhai apsay bhee yaha mistake ho.gayi vo machine say payment lay rha thaa that's mean money will receive in company account ab vo account say to debit nhee kr skta , that's mean all management are involved in this scam not only he.

machine se bhi payment kiyaa to bhi paise nikal sakte pump employee agr badme koi 500 ka cash me petrol dal ke gya din me kabhi bhi to wo 500 wo jeb me rakh lega 😑
