Definitely the Boks lost the game by kicking away so much possession. They brought on the speedy scrummie Grant Williams and made him kick away possession all the time, to Osborne, who was excellent at receiving the high ball, instead of using his speed to attack. After all, isn't attack the best form of defense. Their tactics especially at the end were wrong IMHO.

I think there should have been a third game scheduled if for no other reason than to settle the debate. Yes South Africa are the world cup holders but there are many who still believe Ireland are the better team. A third test between these two great nations would have settled the debate, well at least for now.

If Nick Mallet is saying the Springboks were not mentally prepared then I agree with him. I saw not a single Ireland player news conference but many Springboks players were in numerous press conferences. Basically, they made the same mistake England did in 2019 in the week before the final.

The boks can have the most attacking and fastest backline in world rugby. Let of pollard and faf. Fassi on fullback. Zulu on inside centre. Hendrikse on flyhalf. Next world cup ours as well. Let go of the old guard.

It will be suicidal stupidity to exclude the experience old guards in the test matches. The coach knows his job very well and new players are to integrated where there are "gaps", like in the case where Sacha replaced the injured Willie Le Roux. Siya Masuku Grant Williams, Salman Moerat, Edwill van Der Merwe and Sacha Mngomezulu should be included against Portugal.

So we lost the game, i dont think we should be so hard on ourselves, thats an incredible Irish team that beat us by a piont, so what, we beat them by 7 in the first test. Yes a third test might have been great but we might habe lost that one as well, then what, are we in deap deap trouble? Of course not, we still the wprld champs, but now we got some planing for the tri nations, how lekker isnt that, we worried we not sure now, so we have to have a ling hard look and look foward to the next hard tests, thats lekker that how it must be, lets not be winges but appreciate that we just just lost a test against arguably the best side in the world, i still however believe we are. Boom daar gat julle. Always lose graciously and come back hopefully better. 🎉😮😮

And that is exactly what the Springboks have done. Ireland milked how many tries in the two tests? The injuries suffered by Willie le Roux and Franco Mostert also did not help the Springbok cause, but on the other hand Ireland suffered the same fate in the first test. As good a match as Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu had, in the end he cost us the match by not allowing the ball to find touch in the dying minutes of the game. The experience of Willie le Roux would have left the ball to go into touch. Springbok lineout, secure the ball and win the game. However, all praise must go to Ireland for sticking to their guns. They were good for the win. They just showed what a classy outfit they are.

Hats off to Ireland for winning a close one, the Springboks kicking game in the first half let them down. What pisses me off: 1) the referees continue to allow Ireland to disrupt your ball at ruck time, Porter should have seen yellow for repeated offences at ruck, in the second half when we were close to scoring and he stopped our ball. 2) They deliberately targeted Marx's bad leg with a crock roll and no red card. Disgusting attempt at a career ending tackle

Our backline was never there for support on line or clean breaks. Eben refusing to be subbed just 2 examples of what a mess it was. Saha played great but had he let the ball go out and not collects it possession would have been ours and we could have won. Also F the ref a dummy throw by Ireland in their 22 could have been another 3 points for us but linesman’s and TMO didn’t see it? A knock on collection before Irelands try also just ignored. Game was a huge mess nevertheless our team now needs an overhaul, the caps meant nothing. And players consistently not performing such a Faf? Why is he still in by he squad. Could go on for days but I just hope Rassie uses these lower tier matches to get a fresh squad together before the rugby championship.

Pollard for all his kicking brilliance offers nothing on attack, hes never a threat, never going to break a line, never creates anything magical, he is an 80s type 10 and we need to move on with a geniune playmaker and genuine threat on attack, otherwise our awesome backs are just wasted unfortunately...35-7 All Blacks game was a glimpse of our true potential.

go and blame your forwards for that. A team can only go wide when they get decent ball. Ireland had the better of your team in the rucks especially and slowed your ball down to a trickle. When a scrum and fly half get bad ball there is little that they can do. Kwagga is not a starting 8th man. He is simply not big enough. I hope that as soon as Hannekom is fit he gets a run because he is your future a no. 8. Lastly if you want to start playing that wide expansive game maybe you had better start looking for some bigger wings other wise your so called running rugby will not work.

Agreed, the Boks did not look like a team with any strategy. Rassie will not like these words but sorry, they were brainless and without passion. Where were the mighty forwards? They were not dominant. The backline looked normal and without strategy as during the WC. No attack and bad defense. The reasons why they played a little better in the 2nd half was because Faf, who clear behind the scrums to slow was not there and the reserve fullback attacked and did not kick like Le Roux. The AB's and Australia will demolish SA will they continue with this brainless rugby.

your whole comment is brainless and you appear to be as well. Willie did not last even 10 minutes and so where was he kicking the ball away. He is still your best playmaker and if you don't know or like that you have a problem. Please tell us all about the as you say, the "without strategy" Ireland, Scotland and France there was lots of strategy. Faf and Pollard could do nothing because of the slow and poor ball that they received. Your forwards played better in the second half and the result was better ball for 9 and 10.

The Boks lost the match because the Irish knew that our driving malls in their 22 will either be a try, or another panalty as they will colapse. So instead of rucking back and redist the drive, the dismantled the driving boks on both side tackeling the out of the driving mall. At least3 times the boks were denied a try on the Irish goal line. And its seems there is no rule against it, it is not seen or was not seen by the ref as tackling a player without the ball. Was hoping the fundi's would have comment on that.😮

No Ireland do the exact opposite. They hold mauls up. They get possession back from teams attempting to maul them. They pioneered the choke tackle defence. Attempting to maul against Ireland is madness they are experts in defending it.

What went wrong was Dickson did not punish Dorris and Byrne properly. Had the ref done his job, deserving or not, the Boks would’ve won comfortably. Game fixed simply by a ref not doing his job. The crock role, the fall on the legs, then the obstruction for the easy as pie penalty - nobody gets such a clean shot at goal with Colbe around, clear as day Dorris trips him but the TMo only checks as Colbe falls into the second pod. The trip had already happened 5m back and we all saw it, except the officials … match fixing. The result can’t be changed, history will show Ireland won and so it shall be. However Dorris needs to be cited, as does Byrne and both should get lengthy bans for trying to end another players career. Last time Ireland toured Pat Lambies career was ended. This time they tried to end Malcolm Marx’s career - seems a habit and also a habit that the Irish transgressor walks away Scot free. What’s up with that WR? Is the career and lives of South Africans worth less??? Sure I’ll take heat for this comment but only because it is true and it touches nerves.

The backline was nowhere, especially the so-called Tony Brown changes??? Some of the backline player, Damain de Allende, never pass a ball, why would you select him if you want to start spreading the ball, he's not able to do it, therefor the long passes to the wings. The All Blacks is going to suprise us, as we make it easy for any team to defend us, as No. 8, 11,12,14 never pass the ball to any player in a better position on the field ????? When RG pass the next person does'nt know what to do with the ball, This is primery schoolboy errors, which is done game after game. The Irish is playing Rugby by the book, whether kicking, passing, running, etc.

The ref was shit. Good example SA makes a mistake get penalized, Ireland does the same thing and nothing. There (lost count) was many times where the boks were held down or back by Irish players without the ball. Also many times where Ireland came from the side and just fall into the lose scrum(penalty in some games).Nr 3 off Ireland was penalized how many times for falling the scrum. He should have been giving a yellow card after the second penalty. And Mr O Conners surname says to me he has Irish blood(conflict off interest, yes I know he was born in New Zealand, still Irish).And that ball that the Irish player through infield and caught it again(rule was not out), it was out. His one foot was on the ground before he could release the ball, therefor out. The joke is the lineman was right there. When was that winning kick 30s before game was finished. If the right call was made for this ball being out SA would have won.
