The free pack isn’t damage control, its BAIT. Most of these free packs come around when a sale is going on. Their angry player base is angry and isn’t buying anymore, but just the other day I saw someone who said ‘just downloaded Sims 4 and am having fun’. There are new untapped uninformed players and the thing about the free kits is, you have to put it in you cart. It doesn’t just auto download. So you have to go through the same steps as a purchase. And while you are doing that, you see a sale…so with that free kit you can make money on selling old packs. A free pack that cost $5 now zero dollars could sell that Expansion for two to three times as much. Its bait to get newer players into an EA shopping cart specifically SEE the sale on DLC and entice those who don’t own every pack to buy something that cost more than $5. It’s the candy bars “not-accidentally” placed right by the checkout in the supermarket.

In terms of the packs they offer for free, you’re looking for a consistent formula, there is no consistent formula. There’s backlash and they’re trying to shut people up. They go down the list of packs that most people already have and they offer it for free, and it doesn’t hurt their bottom line.

I remember that one time yeaaaars ago when the sims 4 first came out. They made all the sims 3 DLC free or it had a very heavy discount, like $1 each. This just makes me feel like I should wait for the games life to be completely over so that I dont feel like I wasted money. Once project Renee drops I hope all the packs become free. I refuse to buy anymore from EA

I think that they aren't receiving any sales on those packs, which is why they are giving them out for free. It's like when they release it “everyone is excited to buy” it, but once the sales go down, they make it free. Romantic Garden came out YEARS ago and I never bought it. However, once it has been years on end, they'll eventually make it free since there's no sales on it. Since, they've tried to market down on it multiple times, but they see that no one's buying it.

I agree bust the dust should be free, from what i remember alot of simmers didn’t like having to constantly clean to keep sims happy; fingers crossed the next free pack is bust the dust

That’s proably why its not free. House chores are a huge divide among Simmers. Some people want more of it, others quite intentionally don’t own bust the dust or laundry day because even if it worked perfectly they are happy NOT to have their Sims wash clothes or vacuum the house. But a bunch of plants or backyard activities and such are pretty much universally welcome additions.

F*ck everybody who tried to rain on Ebonix accomplishments. This beautiful woman has been revolutionizing the sims with her cc and mods for years. This was a great collab and I love all of the new hairs she created, idc if this came out in February or December. She ate and she deserves the recognition. It’s nice to see them working with somebody who creates alpha cc too.

You know what I am thinking, There are two other kits from the teaser for the first quarter. One of them is supposed to be a CAS kit, and a collaboration with an unknown person. It's possible that this is the same person. When a new pack comes out they usually give something for free too. Not always with kits, but it could be a special occasion. Why would they announce it ahead of time like this, maybe because the documentary series, announced with it. It sounds like it is outside of EA's control. I'd be curious to see what kind of light they put on EA in this thing, that has the executives so nervous 😮

I already own Blooming Rooms but I'm not mad about it being free for a bit, it's cool for people who wanted it but didn't want to buy it, or couldn't. And I use it quite often, so I don't regret my purchase. As for project renee... well, I'm just not interested lmao, they can do whatever they want with it.

Not gonna lie, I bought Blooming Rooms and I'm really frustrated of them ONCE AGAIN making things free that I already done spent money on. I think they should give those of us who have spent so much damn money a coupon or something. Also? As a Mac Player I'm not interested in downloading the EA App until they 1: make it easy to find the download (it's still showing the Windows download link) and 2: fix the stability issues. A few friends jumped over and found that their stuff is broken and/or missing. I'm not buying anything more from EA. I'm dipping out for Paralives as my next purchase. I'm already wishlisted on Steam and I will not be paying attention to sims until they fix their shit. lmao

oh, and I do kind of predict that the Sims five well they’re going it’s going to be another rush job Like they did the Sims four And the app as well they haven’t tested it out and I think the Sims five will be like the mobile game so I do recommend people getting life by you is the same Creator that made the Sims two and three

As someone who bought all the DLC for the sims when they rolled out, I'm not mad that they're releasing some packs for free. I'm happy for those who couldn't afford to get them and can now enjoy it. Yet, I'm here thinking why people are getting pent up about it when there are other issues to get mad at. The "free dlc" issue shouldn't be on people's radars since there are other problems way worse than getting mad that you bought a DLC from a few years, months, weeks back. We should still be hyper focused that a ton of the DLC have come with bugs and created an unplayable or unpleasant gaming experience for the price tag.

As a ts3’r , I am tiiiiiiired of the sims 4…. Like, I am sick of that hoe! lol. It’s such a crying shame ea has given ts4 so many years and so much content…. And in a CLOSED world at that. They should have ended ts4 years ago and started on ts5., we would probably have it by now, buttt nooope! They want to drain ts4’rs pockets dry. It’s a slap in ts3’rs faces when they could give us at least ONE major update in all these years. If they haven’t realized, there are still a LOT of people playing “the 3 God”😭😭😂

The Sims management and marketing team are really messy. They should have created a new free kit pack as damage control instead of giving away the ones that were already marketed and sold. That's so unfair for those whom have already bought the pack. 😮‍💨

Should they have done something for Black History Month? Yes. But I also think that we as Black Simmers deserve to celebrated outside of a single month. All we can do is hope that going forward they do better and be more diligent when it comes to celebrating the amazing diversity within this community. I think the Sims Team can do more to help get Black voices out here more. As well, voices of those outside of America and other POC players. I think they're doing better but things can always be improved.

I am probably in the minority, but I don't think the pack/kits should be free. Sales/discounts great. Now pack refreshes would make everyone happy. Old players get something for free if they owned said pack. New players get an upgraded and hopefully playable pack. EA/Sims team get some more money from those thst didn't previously own the pack, and a better reputation from all.👏 But I know they are too dumb to do this. Happy Easter to those that celebrate and a good weekend to all.

At this point the sims 4 is just a money fountain that goes into project Renee. There's no why that one person is spending just under a 1000 dollars for all the packs just for packs and kits to be broken and bare minimum. The Sims 4 is done. What I mean by done, I mean there has to only be 5 people working on the game right now. It has out last its stay and the money grabbing side to get a few extra coins out of everyone is apparent. My expectations for the future of the game is low and it time for a change.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen people complaining over free things 😭 I’m sorry but complaining about things going free is a bit entitled and nonsensical. It’s a similar situation to buying packs full price and then complaining about them going on sale. I get it, it’s a bit annoying if you already got it, but let’s enjoy the fact that now people who otherwise couldn’t afford it, now can get it without giving EA a penny.

I haven't bought Nifty Knitting, Movie Hangout, Cool Kitchen, and Spooky Day if they are going to do free stuff packs more often then I will patiently wait until then. I don't really need them and happy to wait until it becomes free.

The sim community is weird. They get mad because the pricing but then get mad at free giveaways, which are normal, get mad because they didn’t celebrate BHM, but then get mad because they tried to make up for it, like nothing satisfies this community, it is insane!

Idky ppl so triggered by DLC. Most of us don't have every pack. Mind you as a console player the blooming kit isn't free for console players. It's only for PC and Mac. People need to realize there are console players too. Mind you PC and Mac users have better sales than console players as well. People need to stop complaining about every little thing that Sims does.

Simmers NEED to understand that free DLC isn’t ‘unfair’. When you pay for something, you are paying for the privilege to play or use that thing immediately when others are either not interested, or can’t afford it. Literally no other gaming community complains about free DLCs or shit like that. I get that you all hate EA, but the entitlement in thinking you deserve some sort of refund because the thing you got was free later on? Bruh. That’d be like someone getting angry at me because I bought Alien Isolation and all of its DLCs for $10 on a sale when they paid $60-70 for the base game alone.

i think the main issue is that for ALL of the sims 4 DLC it's well over $1k. I bought the base game when it was still $60, I bought a lot of the packs that have become free. I've spent SO MUCH (using money I saved from holidays and birthdays because I did grow up poor) getting these packs only for them to be made free years later and I feel taken advantage of. It's also a billion dollar franchise and they don't wanna do anything for the people like me who have spent well over $100 on packs that are now free

@@bropoke6799 Expecting EA of all companies to give you anything for your patronage is insane. No gaming company hands out rewards for the people that bought their stuff while making other things free in the future. The closest you get is having pre-order bonuses and limited-time offer items. Like it or not, this is how the gaming industry works, and that’s how it has worked for years. Simmers outrage over it only further supports my theory in why they think 70+ DLC is normal: The Sims is the only game they play. If ANY other company tried to get away with 70 DLC, they would have been slammed by their community. The only reason they get away with it for The Sins, is because they don’t know anything about the gaming industry and the culture that surrounds it.

I defiantly feel like making the packs free is a distraction tactic but for me personally I'm ok to grab something I don't have for free, as for the AI issue I feel like it should be used co existently with human workers like in sci fi films and shows instead of outright replacing humans, finally for the BHM stuff I defiantly agree that EA should have done the collab during BHM but at least they did the collab with Winnie Harlow at the time and in my opinion sometimes little is better than none you know, feel free to challenge my argument.
