I can confirm this works with the newer "vulcan" squires. this method is so much better than the traditional tensioning decode of this lock I've seen elsewhere on youtube! Thanks!
Cheers @LockPickingCuber & David Miller, I was just about to buy one of these or the vulcan models but I'll keep looking. The warrior line costs a bit more but hopefully doesn't have the same vulnerability. Appreciate the info 👍
Hmmm... Sorry not sure what to do about that. Maybe close your eyes and really slowly and systematically feel each number on each dial in turn. Maybe that will help feel the difference?
My Squire CP50 refused to open and your technique absolutely worked! It decided to change on its own the 2nd digit to the next number from what I had orignally set!
Amazing. Saw BBill's 7+ minute brute force decoding and didnt even want to bother... Saw this and opened my lock right away. Subscribed for that alone. Only note is that digits one off can give a 'false bounce' so failure without reason is probably 90% success
Thanks for this, was just trying the tension method for 20 minutes without much luck, looked up your video and I had it open in 15 seconds! Bounce method :)
I have just 'acquired' one of these locks and proceeded to see if they are really this easy to open. The bottom 3 wheels were easy but the top wasn't giving much away. It was just a minor inconvenience and it was open first time in less than 60 seconds!
Knew i should have looked on here first! Bought one these, and despite knowing nothing i was able to set and find an unknown code before the end of the video!
Whilst i appreciate that this video absolutely demonstrates a flaw, and I can attest to having performed it on multiple cp models. My cp60, received today, has firm and or bouncy wheels, but they are NOT an indicator of a true gate! When the correct combination is entered some are bouncy and others are firm. Not only this, but the button press and look for binders approach is also apparently solved in my lock! Maybe I got lucky?? Depressing the button firmly, as in Bosnial Bills video only serves to bind all the wheels. I am both very pleased and sad as I bought the lock to practice blindfolded wheel bounce opening of the cp range. 😂. Looks like I have a naughty bucket for a lock i thought would end up a breeze!
Thanks. I have the CP60 it does it on all digits except the last one on the right. So someone just has to turn through the numbers on a single dial! As you said, pity, as it is a hefty feeling thing.
Hmm... I found a lock with a chain in the road, same as that small one you showed. I struggled for over an hour trying to feel the "bouncy" thing. Yeah some numbers feel different but I failed, they all had some bounce. I even shone a bright light at it to see if I could see anything between the wheels when pushing the rear button, yes some movement is observed but not really helpful. Is there another way to open it, else it's going in the bin.
Thank you so much for this! I was fiddling around for 30 minutes before I came here. As I was turning the cogs to hide the numbers (with the screw tightened!) it dislodged one of the cogs and changed the code. I absolutely hate the CP40, I'll be picking up a new one ASAP. I'm getting one with a key, it's absolutely pointless.
Blimey, thats worrying. Well spotted. I did notice the springyness, but I didnt notice it was different round the digits until I saw this video. Good to see there is a false gate at different positions on each wheel (unlike the previous model of this which had a false gate directly opposite the true gate on each wheel). Have you looked at the newer Warrior 55 and 65 combi padlocks yet? They are an absolute pain to set as you need a tool to lever the wheels round and that tool deforms the holes it fits into in the wheels. It can also be set half way between each digit as well as on the digit. Hence, very easy to 'brick'. Im still studying feedback/feel to decode it. I get more positive feel by removing the screw that holds the unlocking plate on and inserting a longer big flat head screw in the hole and pushing it in to tension the mechanism instead of pulling it, which is whats normally done to open this lock at the correct combo.
I have decoded the first one you did a while back for work using same method as yourself, as they get bigger the spring feeling on wheels is very different, yes agree, springy but do not open as smaller one. Would have been interesting for you to show others out package. We all have done it in the past where we practice on a lock first and that is how we learn, but then to do two out of package openings in same video will confuse as you do not do anything other than push wheels to say they have the same issue. Not knocking your technique or video my friend as it was great, but when doing a fresh opening it really needs to be shown of opening too. Well that's my ramble buddy, but who am I to speak who gave up locksport a few years back LOL!!!! Rich (Wadda-C2)
I wrote to Squire Locks about this and here is their reply, "Someone discovered that if you pushed the wheels down on each number the correct number would bounce significantly more, this issue has now been engineered out and all the numbers bounce the same, meaning it is not possible to discover the code in this way."
hi, I'm not English and I don't really understand English, but can someone explain to me how I can lock this lock without knowing the pin code? thanks in advance
Well, that isn't thrilling seeing as my workshop unit is locked with one of these outside.... 🙃 It's funny because the guy running the unit clearly bought two but lost the combination of his first one and had to buy a second one as there's one exactly the same just sat on the wall 😂
