I was a very angry and disliking person and I battle with judgment but I realized once I got out of my angry outta control state that there is evil in everyone. The meaning and morals will show the evil

Sometimes I wonder if the quasi-inevitable consequences of lack of faith are indeed just the consequences of a lack of meaning, of having previous conceptual certainties crumbled down. Sometimes I wonder if there is indeed some transcendental aspect to the act of submiting to cosmos, to order, to culture. The fact that it *works* may simply mean "It works for society, therefore it is good". So why should the individual submit? Remarkable that, for all purposes, submitting to culture seems to be essential for the individual's well being. Still, why do so many seem to prosper cheerfully without a lack of meaning or social cohesion? Can recognizing the inherent lack of meaning be construed as "enlightenment" in itself? It seems nihilism (as in ennui) mostly strikes those who previously believed in something "beyond life", not so much those who were brought up with a naturalistic, rational (as in emotionally detached) view of these mythologies. Is it really that ignorant to assume there may indeed be signs that point to some "transcendental" truth in those doctrines? Or are they, Christianity in particular, "merely" results of thousands of years of cultural evolution, trial and error?

“Should” is such a strong and powerful word. We choose ( free will) to partake we don’t submit. Yes, signs are all around us throughout our life. Nothing is by coincidence. NOTHING ✝️

Something will be considered evil if the intentions of the person doing the thing are evil. But let’s say I try to kill you by shooting a gun, but the bullet misses you and hits the tire of a car that would have otherwise run over a child. No one will know that my intentions were evil because the immediate consequences are not bad. But if I have evil intentions and the immediate consequences are bad then I have committed an evil act regardless of the later implications (implications that could not be predicted at the time of the action).

I think that’s just the dim lighting in the video though. It looks like mid to dark brown hair to me. Dr Peterson’s giving a lecture and we’re discussing hair colour 😅

he seems to turn Christianity into such an abstraction that its difficult not to think that he is partially augmenting it in order to reconcile his rationality and his instinctual sense of faith

PHANTOM I've always wondered just what percentage of Peterson's interpretations of religious text and other dramas were projections of his own wisdom onto it, rather than what actually lies within it.

His voice ton is tired. Try trusting him, he is fighting it many years now with this. if you didnt struck with pain yet, wait and act when you feel that, if you are lucky..

All understand ing begins with first principles, which are what you assume to be true behind what you can verify objectively. In that way all understanding is a compounding of what is objective and what is presupposed (supposed on faith). I hear this argument alot, and one low hanging fruit is this idea that Christianity is a monolith that peterson is at odds with. Yet I've heard alot if similar talks to his from church leaders throughout my life. Certainly he adds an articulate and scientific spin, but i dont see the metaphysics are too out if whack. The other argument, and it's one he uses, is that his methodology is sound. He isnt just stating his oppinion as it stands, he wants his ideas represented in biology, psychology, theology, mythology... etc. Who knows how "right" it is. That's the wrong point. The effectiveness to illicit a positive change in people is what is important and actually supports as a kind validation.
