Very clear video and technicly well explain; what kind of jaws do tou use on the video i noticed they are heavy on the end where they seat on sheave to pull apart, i have the same Posilock Jt1 and the jaws end are very thin to the point they bent when i used to pull apart the secondary sheave, could you tell me which ones are yours mine are 9.5 reach thank you gabriel.

I saw a guy to a 20 minute tear down and rebuild and he used way to much Gasket Caulking, OMG like a half inch was coming out the outside, every time he bolted the 3 main Parts Back together.. So I can only Imagine how much of that stuff went inside where it's going to break off and clog passage ways.. My god he used way to much of that Gasket stuff. I'd like to get it done now before my CVT Gets shot!!
Hi, thanks for the great video! Disassembled today the same from Outlander, the primary pulley is shut - the balls are fallen apart and grooves are damaged. Question - should I replace the torque converter? I'm afraid the debris may trap in it and could destroy it in short run.

I am trying to order the parts to rebuild one of these and it is incredibly frustrating and NO ONE list's the contents of any of the rebuild kits. One company has 3 kits listed. different part numbers, different prices, zero details, they can't tell me whats different between the kits! GRRRRR. if anyone has any experience rebuilding these. You made pulling it apart look so easy, but it wasn't working here... My boss is the rebuilder, he wasn't using the zip ties, and I kept saying," maybe you should"...he thought he could do it without ... that's a big flat N O. Well I know what the problem with my trans is now, the pump piston. Except for the Arbor press I'm pretty sure I could do this. I've been working on vehicles for over 35 years, as a back yard mechanic. Engine rebuilds, manual trans, valve trains, brakes etc. I took my 2014 Murano to the dealer and they want to put a new $5,200.00 dollar transmission in it. I said just rebuild it. They told me Nissan does not recommend rebuilding these. They certainly look a lot simpler than my TH-400 in my old 69 Pontiac. Thanks for the video. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
When servicing my 2014 QX CVT, the last step, I'm supposed to get CVT to operating temperature and pull the check fill plug while motor is running, verify the level is good. Why does the motor have to run. Also oil should run out check fill plug but when stream gets slow, put plug back on transmission. I would like to understand more of what's going on at this step of the process. I wonder why do you desire the oil to be pressurized when you have the fill port open. That doesn't make sense to me, but I'm not the CVT mechanic. Then I want a better explanation of small stream ok pouring not good. Thank you in advance for your time.

Thanks for doing this. It's gone into my favorites. I have 2 Murano CVT autos to do. My first time on these. I heard the pulley sealing rings can degrade, blocking the filter. Seems odd. Maybe the convertor lockup plate has gone.

Question i have a 2015 sentra my issue is it revs up to 3000 rpm at idle and when in gear it revs the same but then stops to respond to the gas peddle Unless i turn the car off and on It has no codes at all And also it will not engage in any gears not even a thump When i pulled out the secondary speed sensor it has been rubbing and on the scanner it reads 0 I have another sentra to compare to also known working i used the speed sensors out of that and still reads 0 Is my issue the shims you were talking about? Car has 120k miles bought from auction its very clean too i found cvt fluid in the trunk too
Does the aging counter need to be reset when changing the oil? In theory, if there is a variable, then if the threshold value is exceeded, it can throw the variator into emergency mode. Is it so?
Hi, great video, thanks for that. I was asked by an owner of a 2008 jeep patriot with this type of transmission to have a look at his transmission problems. When I scanned the car there were a couple of codes present, a P0842, P0847 which are circuit codes and P0700, P0218, as well as P1607. I have no any experience with transmission and I couldn't get any information to guide or direct me. Will you please help out me through on what I may have to possibly check. Thanks.
Hello. I have a MITSUBISHI LANCER 10 1.8 cvt. CVT re0f10a. The car stopped switching. They dismantled the valve body and saw that the cone position sensor had worn out. Changed the cone position sensor, washed the valve body. The step motor was advanced to the end. Gathered, the car drove off. Only after 1000 kilometers did the car again stop switching. Dismantled again and saw that the cone position sensor was again erased. What could be the reason? The belt and cone are in good condition. Thank you in advance.
The ROM module needs to stay with the vehicle it came out of unless the tag # on the top is the same? So if I have a salvage transmission with the same tag # as my bad transmission should I swap the ROM from my bad tranny to my replacement (used/salvage) tranny

That metal ring on the inner and outer side of that band you inspected... Yeah I have an 07 Altima CVT right now in front of me that is in perfect condition except that pump valve is scared to oblivion and that inner and outer band cover was in the pan in pieces and the band itself is still on the primary and secondary variators so there is nothing to zip tie to the band. It's just the band! Now what? How has it not come apart? And it's been almost 6 years since this video. If a band itself is still not available for replacement I'm saying NISSAN IS BULL SHIT! Because that would be beyond forced into something I don't need just to get something I do Like entire primary and secondary that I have that is just fine.
You had that transmission tore down quick! Lol So much good information. I like the tip with the bucket to keep the ball bearings from scattering. Could absolutely do my altima coupe's transmission if it came down to it. Thanks!
Great video, technology of the future 1. protects the motor from excessive wear 2. Can be used simultaneously with and electric motor 3. saves fuel costs 4. logical scheduled maintenance will make CVT last longer i.e expensive oil change and replacing the belt. And last but not least drive like a human

the newer rogue cvt are notorious for overheating even under normal driving. external transmission coolers have proven to work and greatly extend cvt life, especially for nissan rogue cvt.
I have the REOFO9a and it has the springs inside and by brother is trying to reassemble, but both pulleys are completely descended once put together and can't get the belt in how do you solve this? Thank you to any one who can help

Excellent, Thank you for Sharing. A Guy could make a few Bucks if he did enough of these ! Many won't touch these transmissions. Ill have to look at what presses cost and the Extraction tool cost . Go from there . You did a Awesome professional detailed job!
I did my comment like a month a go now I want some advice in my REOF10A I was working in the secondary pulley while I was trying to disassembly it and because after few intent to release the seal ring and didn't came out, I decided to takeit to the press and release the tension which I did but the spring stayed inside between the two piston and the movable superior part of the pulley and I suppose is still under tension there( although I heard a pop up and now the complex between the two pistons and superior movable part moves freely after the pop up sound but always they are together) I need some advice on what to do next I was thinking to take it to the press giving a small pressure just to get the seal ring a little bit more exposed and easy to release and just pressing the pistons down(not too much pressure on them) and with the superior nut in the fixed part of pulley tied up
Can you tell us if it’s possible to replace the pump without taking the transmition out of the car? Just by removing the valve body and gettin access from the bottom
