The Romans were practical, down-to-earth people who excelled at war and administration. They admired Greek art, collected it and employed Greek artists but they also added to Greek art.
I discuss the Roman Empire and Roman society, portrait busts, statues, architecture and other art forms.
The Romans left a vast legacy in technology, building, jurisprudence, religion and art and was one of the most influential civilisations in human history particularly regarding Western society.

Hi Dr. Laurence Shafe, I look forward to watching this later. Selfishly I would love to hear more Egyptian Art content lectures from you. How Phoenician art maybe was influence by Egypt or vice versa? Nubian, the art around there during the new kingdom was interesting for sure. I’ve been watching some new content docs from Curtis Ryan Woodside as well in Egypt/Nubia, pretty interesting and he is doing it a little differently than the usual documentary which is intriguing.

I am pleased you liked my talks but I don't intend to record any more on Egyptian art as my plan is to give an overview of the whole of Western art.
