In this video, we travel down the river Wye via canoe and kayak, from Hereford to tresseck campsite in Hoarwithy. On this mini expedition, I’m joined by my fellow park rangers, Oliver and Jenks.
We brought a sit on kayak of our own and hired a canoe from www.herefordcanoehire.com . Plenty of banter along the way and I try out an MRE ration pack for my lunch.

Hey fellas. Colleen and I sure enjoyed meeting you guys at the Global Bushcraft Symposium recently. It was a pleasure to pole and paddle with you. So glad I found your channel. Take care and all the best to you. Dale and Colleen

Scott, next time put the apples, and especially the cheese spread, in the heater. They taste much better warm lol Most of heat packs don’t work. I warm mine up in a pot of water and then make coffee or tea once the meal is hot. I’m looking forward to the continuation

First time I've used an MRE. Heater didn't work until after I finished the food. So I stuck it under the woven seat on my canoe to keep my ass warm.

Some good video skills there, I attempted similar on a recent adventure but my dry bag failed in the 1st capsize so bye bye camera! The MREs are convenient but so much plastic. Weight is not a problem in the open canoe, you can carry so much in those, wine, beer, legs of lamb, you do not just eat, you feast!

Brilliant dude. That was literally my home stretch. The first island you were on is right by home - we would play on that every summer. Great to see you paddling these few miles. Your lunch stop certainly went down well with the MRE. Probably gained a few there eh? The wood in the back ground was Westwood - good for some camps. Well, it was good to see your reaction to mu home patch - glad you enjoyed it. I've swam that stretch -there's a good video on my channel if interested - and camped it to. Well, good going - part 2 now. All the best. Mark

I wild camped with a friend from Glasbury-Monmouth a few years ago using our sea fishing kayaks. What a wonderful and relaxing trip it was and I see you enjoyed too. On another note, I’m sure I know you from the Stag in Five roads, that’s if I’m correct in thinking your Dad is Kurt.

I had the same experience with the MRE heat pack, I'm glad it's not just me that you bark paddling orders to . Wish I'd been there, glad you finally got around to editing and uploading .

Great video . Very much looking forward to the next one and its good to see you making regular content again . I have a similar trip planned from Hay on Wye to Symonds Yacht at the end of March and after watching this video and your last one i do have a bit of "filter envy" . That filter looks far less hassle than a Sawyer Mini which i am currently using . Any chance of a full review video before i pull the trigger on buying one ?

I've used a sawyer mini for years and I think they're great. The grayl is a lot more expensive, but for a trip like this it was perfect. If it was an extended trip though, I'd take both

I know the grayl is about as good as water filters get but does it remove enough of the nasty chemicals to make our river water safe?I trust them to get the bad bacteria out but do they removes chemicals well enough?

As far as I know, yes. But it's still worth checking out on their website. I drank the river water for 4 days and survived 😉

@@welshwoodsman ok so been doing my research mate and that filter hardly removes any chemicals…benzine, chlorine and chloroform and that’s it.just imagine what goes in our rivers what we can’t filter out.weed killer you name it,be careful.
