My dad bought a brand new 2011. He picked us up in Vegas from Phoenix and instantly fell in love with it. Red extended cab, with 6 seats. 5.3 has the bang for the buck. Fat forward to 2015 I got myself a 2010 same exact truck. Got it with 91k and now have 205,000. And she’s still running great. of course with maintenance and oil change three times a year. And only put 91 chevron or shell. I love this Chevrolet.
To this day in 2023 the most reliable truck to date are the 07-13 Chevy Silverado. I got my 13 LS Silverado in 2013 and it still runs like its brand new and have taken really good care of it sitting at 200,123 miles. I have been wanting to engine swap it and get at least a 5.3 in it but I gotta find time and money to do it. Overall the best truck out there still to this date. The most attractive as well, cause with a Silverado you can lower the suspension and it looks great. Put a lift kit its looks great. You throw anything on that truck its gonna loos super good all around. I love Chevy and will always stick with the Silverado. I drove Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Ram and neither of them didn't drive or feel like a truck. The Silverado spoke a truck and will forever be my truck.
Unless you live up in North America, the 07-13’s are know for having terrible rust and frame issues up here, and I know from experience. Get past that and the AFM if you have it then ya, she can be great if you treat her good. But all vehicles have their flaws.
2009 just hit 185k miles. 5.3. Been a good truck. Interior is cheap, crankshaft is about to go, but other than that it's been great! Handles good in deep snow, never had issues in mud or rain. Gas isn't bad on highway. Jusy needs a little more power
Beautiful rig! I have a 2007 the first of this body style with the LS package and 14 years later has acquired the “weight reduction package” courtesy of the state of NJ. But the ol 5.3 has kept up great I’ve done no major work to the motor only an oil pump. She’s got 161k. Body is ok I bought it with fender flares I’m sure there’s a nice amount of rot under them but it is overall an amazing reliable truck.
I have a 2012 Silverado LS extended cab and it runs good had it for over a year. Cons is the the rubber in the doors wore out letting air as i drive at higher speeds. Pros runs great and haven't had any major issues its a reliable daily truck
Listen to your mother. They are junk, because of the active fuel management causing expensive engine tear down repairs. Stick with the 1999-2006 Silverados. They are rated for 360,000 miles.
The 3rd gen. Silverados were 14 to 18, with a refresh on 16 to 18's. 2019 was a new generation. I own a 08 reg. cab silverado 4x4 and it is an awesome truck!
And I thought it was just my truck. My 2013 had the stereo, window switch and the door handle problem. All this happened between 50k and 80k miles. Still love my truck.
Nice vid man !! If you love the interior on your truck , you should see the ltz with the full center console it’s badass bar far the best looking interior ever even against the 2018
Greetings, I will be purchasing a ‘07/‘08 Silverado within the next month or so. I really like the profile of yours to include the rim and tire selection. Will you please advise me on what to purchase when it’s time to set mine up? Thanks in advance.
Good looking truck bud!! Good review too, You hit a lot of good points! Quick question, what brand/kind of headlights are those? Or did you just tint them or are they specific bulb set up???
Im thinking about getting a 2007. 190k miles for 9k. Mainly, I need it to drive 50 miles to work and back and need something that can make it through snow on the interstate and country roads. Do you think its a good pick?
Great video man. I have a 2011 myself. This generation is a good one. My list: Pros: Beautiful design inside and out Overall reliability Not over-engineered Sounds amazing with exhaust system Easily customizable Cons: The 4l60E transmission is known to shit the bed Radio buttons wear out after use (replaced mine with stickers) No handle on the driver side like you pointed out Not as "solid" feeling as the cateye Chevys Lower trims trucks (such as mine) don't have as much storage options and missing gauges on the cluster.
I believe its a 4L80E, which are better than the 60E's by a bit. But you're right! Mines an LS 2wd and doesn't have as much features, like the onStar bluetooth, missing my oil pressure and battery gauges, no fog lights, stuff you'd expect for an LT just isn't there
The master door switch has a corrosion issue internally you dont need to replace them split the case and clean the button contacts I discovered this trick when i was in a financial crisis😂
Nice. I have a 2003 Trailblazer 4x4 LTZ and it's a nice reliable roomy every day driver. I was thinking about getting me like a 2007 Silverado or something like that. Thanks for the video subscribed.
Good video boss! Love the truck, but imma be that guy.. 5.3 with tow mirrors and a diesel exhaust tip? I own an lt with the the 5.3 and I’m unhappy that I’m only recommended for 5500 lbs. But most of your pro con was spot on and loved how you clarified it was your opinion!
Bro you don’t have to own a diesel to run tow mirrors if you pull/tow anything the mirrors help tremendously I personally like having extended mirrors, if you don’t tow shit yea it’s kinda pointless. But it’s personal preference for everyone. I agree with the tip thing tho it’s just for show I know but it’s not to bad I’ve seen fatter tips on 1500 then his and oh my god 8-12-14 inch tips lmao 🤣 I just can’t.
2007-2013 GMT900 Platforms are notorious rust buckets. Many aftermarket manufactures became very profitable selling fender flares to hide the rust. If you live in a northern climate, don't bother with these trucks unless you love the look of rust. Got rid of mine as soon as it appeared.
@@BowtieBrem Sup brotha! Just realized you had that other video talking about your “boom boom shika booms” subs that gave me a good chuckle. Great content, keep them coming and subscribed!
@@BowtieBrem okay I heard others say that. It seems 07-09 had the worst problems with AFM(active fuel management) so I’ll try to go for 10 and up, thanks
I have heard 2010 and up is where you want to be they had a lot of problems for the first few years especially relating to the AFM and was supposed to have it somewhat taken care of by 2010
I'm late to the party, just wondering what yall think. I paid 15 k, for a 2010 98000 miles in 2021. So far no problems. Also talked him in to a set of tires, nothing special about 800 dollars worth.
@@BowtieBrem thanks I was a bit worried, being I purchase from a dealer, Minnesota and still no rust, Chevy did a great job with rust protection and under coating.
About to check out something similar. 2010 sierra with 95k miles from Missouri, (I'm in NJ). Guy inherited from his father, asking 11k$. Will need to see if it runs well and if there is any rust
Rusting on the passenger side on these trucks are strange to me as well I have a 2000 model and 2 of the 07-13 trucks and on the 2 07-13 trucks the passenger side is a little rustier then the driver side. Maybe it’s a drain issue or design flaw 🤔 but I love my chevys and gmc’s
@@BowtieBrem yep they all do some flaw but it’s okay as long as they get you to where you gotta go and they don’t nickel and dime ya too much anything can be a great truck
I just bought the same truck about 2 days ago with very low miles and 1 owner mines the flex fuel model. I just hate mines the Z71. Its just not my style. I can't wait to do a chrome delete and delete ALL the chrome. Then 5% tint maybe darker all the way around besides the windshield. Only psychopaths or pedos do that. Then slam it a good 4" maybe 5". Then put some nice black wheels on it. Mines the Greystone metallic as well. I also added Chevron techron high mileage fuel system which i HIGHLY recommend along with Lucas fuel treatment and it made a HUGE difference yesterday. I'm going to add a couple more bottles on my next few fill ups. BTW is there a speed limiter at 90 Mph on these trucks? 👀
Mine is a z71 too. Not a piece of chrome on it anymore if you’ve seen recent videos. I don’t really go that fast but I know when I was younger I got it to 100

07-13 GM trucks are great vehicles, I just think GM sort of were cheaping out during the creation of these trucks such as crack dashes, switches, buttons, things of that nature the mechanical side of the trucks are great it’s just the little things. But yet again this was the model year trucks being built during GM’s financial difficulty but they are awesome trucks 👍
@@BowtieBrem get the 3M adhesive remover wheel just make sure you clean the truck before do it a take your time with being careful not to make too much heat there work great I did it on my truck it took about 15 minutes or so to do one side. The 3m wheel is not cheap about $60. And Depending on the quality of paint and how long they have been on there and color of the truck the paint may not match 100% for a while I did it on my truck was a bit shinier under the molding. But after a while everything should feed out and match over time I did my about 4 months ago you cancel tell difference but is getting better than before
