07-13 Chevy Silverado Outside Door Handle Replacement (Chevy/GMC)

Thanks for the video! I couldn’t figure out how to undo the clip (the one you had to go back and clip when you were starting to put the panel back on). I ended up leaving it attached and doing everything from the top side. One thing I found is that when attaching the new handle assembly: There is a small tab in the center of the the assemble that has to be slid in behind the metal as you wiggle the assembly in place. I was putting screws in and noticed the center of the assembly was bulging out away from the metal. After trying to reassemble several times, I pulled the whole thing out again and notice that lip/tab that has to be slid in behind the metal as you seat it. Once the tab was behind the metal everything was flush and held itself in place for inserting screws. Hope that makes sense. Anyway I really appreciate you making this video!

Great instructions am having that same issue with my 09 Chevy Silverado handle works just loose I think it pulls away about 1/2 inch when I open the door. Thinks now I know how to tighten it up.

Your video is great! I also have a 2012 (built in 2011) Silverado 1500 Ext Cab. I bought it used, and got two keys but those keys ONLY work for the ignition switch, the door lock must require a different key, as the ignition key does not unlock or lock the door handle? Additionally the Tailgate has the same issue and must have had a second key (or the ignition switch may have been changed at some point?) Needless to say, the remotes I have let me lock and unlock the door handle (only the driver's door has a lock cylinder - the passenger side has no key cylinder) My desire is to purchase and replace the driver's door cylinder with key kit, and go through the process of accessing the door handle as you did here and swap over the lock cylinder. You very good video will help tremendously. As to the tailgate lock, I ordered the "BOLT" Gm Tailgate Handle 5922987 which lets me use the ignition key for that lock cylinder (with BOLT's proprietary keying method). I love my 2012 it has 124K and looks new. I ordered a Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover today and the BOLT handle so I can secure the bed when needed. Thanks again -- Richard in KY

Got mine in. Put the door panel on. Then went to try my work. Damn handle is open about an 1/8 inch when relaxed. Wtf. Wasnt that way when I put it in. Musta distorted when I tightened the bolts.

Make sure you put a magnetin your socket or the handle bolts fall into the pocket at the bottom of the door. Not fun to find them. I tried a magnet but ended up sticking my arm in the door with my fingertips and finding them what a bitch to get out
