Good video...I own a 2008 F450 6.4 with 158,000 miles on it. I only had to replace starter three times since 2008 and radiator two times. On the third time I went with all aluminum radiator and no problems since. DPF DELETE AND EGR DELETE WITH TOWING TUNE. I have done all the required maintenance at intervals that ford calls for. Just curious how much a job like that cost? Also can you mention what it cost in future videos what it cost? I am to the point where I am feeling soothing is going to break. California and back to Atlanta at least 10 times over the past four years towing cars and what ever I can tow. How long do these pumps last.

I just finished my hpfp replacement cab on. Its tight in spots but I didn't remove the turbos.

Ah yes.... The elusive 6.4 in its natural habitat... Those damn things are boomerangs... Went from a 6.0 to a 6.7. Skipped a 6.4 altogether. Still have my 7.3. She'll never die

Hey man question for you.. 6.4 power stroke. I was plowing last night driving for hours then it shut down.. all it would do is crank for about 10 minutes then it fired. But every time it comes to a hill it dies.. I’m going to check it out now for codes.. anything you ever seen?

Yo ARod, quick question. If the HP fuel pump goes bad does it give any warning signs (perhaps a whining) or does she just give up?

Rob Unt running low on fuel, bad fuel quality and not changing the fuel filter every 10k with mc filter is what kills it I believe.

+Rob Unt check engine light. There are two integral valves that are non serviceable. Thats what was wrong.

Same love my 6.0 crew cab short bed just got a mishimoto oil cooler out in and cleaned the turbo, not afraid to drive it anywhere

@@austindavis4816 had major major wiring issue on my 6.0 mechanically trucks mint shape....... but basically truck wouldnt start cold without block heater plugged in for 2 hours during summer time 90-100 degrees F. truck fourtiantly died at work had it towed back hydrolocked engine cleared the hydrolock and my new wiring harness showed up replaced in in a bout 2 hours and truck fired right up but got 1 injector dumping..... with bad fuel knock from it puffing white smoke like a freight train..... thank god i had the wiring issue before or i could have potentially blown up the engine doing 70 on the highway and the injector lets go....... all is well rebuilding the bad injector.

Old video forsure. Hopefully not too much of that dirt didn't fall in the motor on the back side of turbo pedestal. I always blow with a blow gun before removing cover.

how the heck do you get the pump cover off without pulling the turbo? I've probably replaced 5 hpfp this year and always have to lift turbo just past pedestal dowel in order to clear the exhaust

Did lots of these at international. They say to use a punch to hold the gear and torque in a vise . Interesting difference. Priming them can be a bitch what do you use to prime? A pump into the filter header or a bunch of key cycles as you button everything up

makes me glad I have a Cummins....dear Lord. what a mess...just for a dang fuel pump? hell NO! LMAO got my respect for even attempting that kinda mess. and of course a cab removal. I like the Cummins NO CAB removal and I can do every bit of work on it. just incredible how stupid I.h. was at engine design. wow. made mechanics and dealers a shit ton of money tho. ....sorry JUST...blown away by where they put the fuel pump....

cummins diesel I've removed the cab on my last 6.4l 3x. The 3rd time i did it in about 1hr at a friends shop in ohio. It is in my opinion the best way of accessing anything behind the oilcooler. I have been fortunate to have access to a lift though.

No, but it is best. Sometimes ya cant do a pull cuz of the type of modifications the truck has. Some times you can get away with doin a partial lift. Other wise, trans is comin out and ull have sit indian style and twerk it out dat way.

Was told it’s necessary, I replaced the entire fuel system, used alliant hpfp, and it still has metal coming out of pump. Always has since beginning.

I have a 08 f450 king ranch with 38k on it. Dpf was off at 6k. All most 10 years and no problems towing my 5th wheel. BUT! If it does have a problem where the cab has to come off it wont have a 6.4 when it goes back on tho it will have a hand shaker in the floor and a yellow 6 shooter under the hood

that's wierd there is no keyway in the gear or keyway cut on shaft of pump must not have to be in time with engine? it seems wierd that there is only three mounting bolts . it seem to me if you had four bolts it would mount more evenly.

6.0 or any other vehicle you have, you will eventually be replacing fuel pump, etc. Pay attention to the mileage on the vehicle when you make these repairs. If you only have 80,000 on your pump, or if it makes it to 200,000 makes a big difference. 6.4 are in my opinion better all around once egr an dpf are deleted. As well as hpfp gasket, and maybe if your unlucky piston replacement. I enjoy 6.4l f250 super duty power,speed and pulling power. 6.0 are tired , slow .

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod i work on school buses, have done plenty of 6.4, 6.5l hpfp's, if you're wondering the 6.5 is the newer version of the 6.4l, lots of changes to the low pressure fuel system and exhaust, better manifolds, less broken bolts

K16 pump when they crap out won’t it send metal straight to the rails to the injectors and possibly cause and injector to hang then a week later there is a whole in the piston? Not being a smart ass I’m wanting to know what you guys at Ford do when one of these comes in.

Do you know anything about alliant power fuel contamination kit for these trucks recommend them or is it junk. Looking at a truck that has catastrophic pump failure. I’m a tech but not for Ford work on a bit of everything.

Pump can be replaced cab on but you get a much better and more consistent repair pulling the cab. Hence why Ford recommends pulling the cab.

Probaly a bad turbo actuator, there are several videos on RU-vid showing how to test it and it is easy to replace

have a 08 6.4 with 260,000 miles.bought it with 130,000. and in 5 years I have done.altonator,starter,radiator.i can fix anything on the 6.0 powerstroke but what a piece of shit it was .I owned 2 of them.both were biggest pieces of shit i have ever owned.i have 14 6.7 and 08 6.4 powerstrokes now.but same for me.i worry about this 6.4 daily cuz it looks so dam hard too work on.and what people say.but I highly highly disagree that the 6.0 is a better truck cuz it's not.

+Cody Baker i feel yah. U think the 6.4 is hard n you got a 6.7 too, ha wait till ya tear into that. More shit on 6.7 but ill do those any day. Them 6.4 cost to dang much to fix. 2 of this, 2 of that, 2 more of this, oh and this one part we need your left leg and right ocular lense for the part. I guess for repair sake and overall cost I think the 6.0 is a better choice. The 6.4s everybody's got them I don't have a choice but I do like the 6.0 when it comes in. Wham bam thank ya mam. 6.4 too much bs but like i said gotta do em all.
