It’s interesting that Side Swipe’s Mini-Con was going to be named Ganbarre/Gunbarrel; tying back to the old Orson post about the car originally being called Nightbeat, G1 Nightbeat’s little partner was named Muzzle. Muzzle and Gunbarrel are sort of synonyms. Could that have been part of the thinking? Thanks for doing this deep dive, this is fascinating.

Wow! I only just realized that the Minicons that come with the Armada Beasts are full set redecos of the Adventure Minicon Team and Street Speed Team just parsed out across the figures 🤯 I wonder if that's why Predacon comes with two. Would they have just thrown one out otherwise? And why only repaint Megatron and not Optimus Primal too? Were there any other Transmetals considered? Like Tarantulas or Waspinator? Oh, boy! Now my head is swimming with ideas for a "What If" where we got a counterpart to these Unicron Heralds with like some Knights of Primus or something. And we had repaints of Rattrap, Tarantulas, Waspinator, Optimus Primal, and...I guess the Japanese Ravage if we want to keep to the 4 deluxe & 1 mega thing, because we kind of ran out of deluxe molds. 😅 Hmm, now what kind of colour schemes would they have? And which Minicon teams would be their partners? I always liked the Emergency Team and the Air Military Team. Mainly because of their triple-changing Targetmaster-ish nature.

I loved the alt modes on Smokescreen and Sideswipe...and the minicon gimmicks were great. They were both a bit unwieldy in bot mode, but I can't say I disliked either of them! Edit: And, I'll add that these are kids' toys at the end of the day. The little kid down the street from me...above everything else...prefers any gimmick that incorporates a "little man" that interacts with the Transformer. Whether it's a minicon, headmaster, targetmaster or a simple Diaclone-style pilot character, that is easily his favorite play pattern. It just works with kids. I like those gimmicks as well, but there seems to be something extra that clicks with kids.

Although Armada was before my time and I don’t have too much of a connection to it. This episode was awesome to listen to!

I SOOOOOOOOooooo wanted a Nissan Skyline in Alternators/Binaltech. Would've been SUPER awesome as a police car.

I would love to see reimagined and updated versions of Sideways, Smokescreen, Wheeljack, and Sideswipe from Armada.

I really enjoy these sort of deep-dives, and it will be interesting to see the rest of the unicron trilogy discussed.

I would Love to hear about he development of RID 2001 Prime. Or RID 2001 in general.

The Transformers Armada Smokescreen and Scavenger are good figures though the only problem that I have with these figures are Smokescreen’s wrench which is still integrate into robot mode controls his head turning. Which I wish that the wrench was separate from his head but other than that he is a good figure. While for Scavenger I wish he had actual legs.

This was an awesome episode- thank you so much for doing it! I'm looking forward to more in the future. As to Beast Machines toys, I liked a bunch of them initially, but have yet to pick up some of the newer ones. While I saw Generations Tankor, I passed as I was low on funds then & I had the previous versions of that toy. Hearing about the engineering since then, I may pick it up @ some point. I have to prioritize my collecting & purchasing. Keep up the excellent work gentlemen!

I think smoke screen doesn’t fit with constriction guy. I think names like “rougher” or “tumble”.

Side Swipe aint Skyline. He is Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, 3 or 4. There are dead giveaways; 4 doors, widened wheel arches and front bumber airflow/foglight holes, huge rear lights etc etc. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

Great review! Love hearing about the development of TF toys and hearing about Armada toys is awesome. But guys, both your mike's volumes are at polar opposites. Aaron's sounds like his is an inch from his mouth and Proto sounds like he's 6' away from it. O.o' Somewhat distracting, not gonna lie. 😕
