I get confused as to how a lot of lambs call some 2018 and 2019 performances great but then act like she sounded awful here. I'd die for a performance like this today.

Its crazy how a human being can create such a beautiful melody and compose such sad, melancholy lyrics. Am i the only one to feel that the climax is so glamorous but a bit sad at the same time? The climax background music is literally so beautiful. I cant get rid of the overwhelming feeling when the climax hits.
Her voice was chanching fast those days. It actually change more trough this tour than in the whole 1997. She struggles here, singing a difficult song she recorded less than a year before with her voice intact. Beautiful rendition. This woman literaly lend her voice to the fans and the world. 3:20 to the end was literally so unbelievable- the line, "I won't every be to far to fee-eel yooooooooou-" was sung so beautifully. Honestly, if she would have improvised instead of lipping the top of the climax, this would have been a perfect performance, she sounds amazing throughout.
It's so thankful that Mariah firstly performed the song in Taiwan ! This is my favorite ballad from all of her albums. Though some parts of this performance is lipped, I just love it and I can feel how she devoted to the song. Beautiful!

This is my favorite preformance of this song even if it wasnt excatly like the studio version the rasp and tone add an amazing and emotional texture to her voice and she decided sing this live rather than lip syncing thats good enough for me 😊 . Plus it sounded really amazing even with the off key moments and if you think im being delusional then give me a singer who can pull off the song like mariah

the reason mariah ruined her voice was the lack of rest after the daydream tour... then she toured again with a damaged voice... then toured AGAIN for rainbow. she was pretty silly. she also started drinking more in 1997 and hanging out at parties with rappers smoking.
False. The reason Mariah Carey's voice declined after the Daydream era is because of the divorce from Tommy and the stress it put on her. She began going out and drinking, partying, staying up late, not getting adequate rest. That is why. Not because of, like the previous commenter said, seven fucking concerts. Mind you, the Daydream world tour ended in mid-1996. Mariah's separation occurred in late 1996, with the divorce proceedings continuing until 1998. And all of her additional antics occurring in between that time, leading to a vocal decline. Mariah's voice is extremely delicate. I believe that if she isn't doing everything she needs to maintain it, it won't be at fine form, especially as she ages. And here she wasn't. She regained her voice essentially in 2001, lost it late 2002, regained it during the Charmbracelet concert, and was in fine form again completely during the TEOM era. She lost it again starting in 2007, then she started taking pregnancy hormones and really lost it, then she got pregnant and almost completely regained it (due to adequate rest and lack of alcohol), then lost it again in mid-late 2012, and somewhat regained it in mid 2013. Now, the same thing is happening now because of her separation/supposed divorce from Nick Cannon. The sheer emotional and psychological distress affects her fucking throat. That's why the first shows were probably her worst ever. Now as she's starting to care of herself again, she is clearly taking better care of her voice and it is sounding much, much better. I urge Mariah Carey to continue regaining her vocal strength and prowess. Nevertheless she remains the best the world has ever seen which is why she is the best-selling female artist of all time.

@iiAmitx3 I loved the Rainbow era, I think it was when Mariah really started experimenting on tour. She did things she had never done before and started adding to old songs.

@closemyeyes94 for me RAINBOW ERA is one of the best vocal tone she had. I love her high notes in RAINBOW era but she can't often hit the high notes. because she is always tired. xD

A lot of people say she's tired, or cold, or sick. To me it sounds like she's a bit bloated, like she had too much coffee or soda. That feeling you get when you almost have the hiccups. She's very short of breath and has trouble keeping pitch, which is unusual for her. She also has trouble putting a lot of dynamic into the song and seems to sing the whole thing quite loud and pushy, which would indicate that she had been "oversinging" prior to this. This is one of the best, if not THE best, female vocalists of all time and she still seemed to pull it off when this song is vocal suicide. Not my fav rendition, but still an amazing job.
i somehow agree with you on some parts but she is one of the BEST VOCALIST OF ALL TIME! you have NO idea about her skills and what she have gone through. imgagine traveling around the world singing live and sing a NOT ORDINARY SONG! definitely your vocals will get tired. please stop judging her vocals

So yes, she is my number one and yes, I know what her voice goes through. Come back when you learn about vocal chords and breathing techniques. There were some parts different than the original one so I think she sang live or pre-recorded the climax But her voice was tired so if she pre-recorded was before the tour or one day that her voice was less tired I think 😊

Ok I'm not gonna start ranting or anything but, to be brief...I for one did NOT like the performances from the rainbow era...ugghhhhh....the ONLY songs i liked from that album/era was Heartbreaker (freakin epic instrumental and vocals) and Can't Take That Away From Me.
Too bad, her voice was completely gone! I will always remember the Mariah from the first seven years. That's all! Seven years and then she was gone. Sad.
