09G Valve Body TransGo Shift Kit Intall - Transmission Repair 

i did. i dropped the pan again, and disconnected and reconnected all the electronic connections, making sure they were all connected properly. then i turned the key on and selected reverse, neutral, and drive. i slid the shiftlever over and was able to upshift the transmission manually from 1st to 2nd. At that point i was reasonably sure that i had corrected my issue. i put the pan back on, filled the transmission back up with atf, and testdrove the car. It shifted perfectly. Praise the LORD!

This guy is seriously one of the best transmission rebuild RU-vidrs I've found.

Just wanted to thank you for a great video. Most comprehensive one yet. BTW, this is the same transmission as the Mini Cooper and Clubman R55 and R56. I'll be doing this exact thing very soon as mine is shift hunting from 3-4 gears and shifting hard. Lifetime fluid MY A$$!

that is much much better .............only problem, when is warmed (after 10 minutes driving)the 2nd gear is bumping , most of the time for downshifting 3rd to 2nd ,otherwise that is ok and that is quite better after repairing valve body as you explained on your clip. thanks a lot and apologize for my bad English.

What you need to install new solenoids? You need special equipment to insert the coils with the unit?

Hi Haram great video just wondering how different is the 2003 V^ Touareg transmission from the one in your video.? others are showing the vcalve body removed from the touareg without removing the transmission. Transgo say the same. i have the commonly reported problem of 5th down to 4th bad clunk which it seems are caused by the valve body. What do you think. Cheers mike from Aus

Thanks for the good videos Hiram Gutierrez. i have i vw golf plus fsi 2005 it has rough change of gears when it warms up epecially 2nd and 3rd and when going down gears....when you put it into drive and reverse it really shakes ...last month was driving for a long distance the PRNDS light came on, i packed the car for a few minutes then when i started again the light had gone..changed the ATF but the problem persists...could the valve body have issues? please reply

Currently have my valve body removed, and was ready to replace it with the valve body I ordered but USPS broke it some how 😑😑 so now I'm not trying to wait another 5 weeks to get another for 350$ and easy wondering how much a rebuild would be or would I be better off waiting for ever for a new one? Apreciate it

Hiriam why did you enlarge the port on the valve body gasket? I did a similar job on this same unit, but did not perform that procedure.

hi when do you know when you have to do a valve body transgo shift kit install. I do all the work my self but not the valve body I just did my atf and runs good I do my tune up every year thank you for the help

Hi Hiram I have a 02 jetta automatic 2.0 it shifts hard goin into 2nd, all other gears are good. Should I do a oil drain n fill before anything else it only has 124000 miles on it, im thinking its low on fluid? Thank you

Hi if its a valve body solinoid issue i have, would it register a fault code. Mine will reverse but when in drive you have to rev it hard then it goes slow like its stuck in a high gear. I fitted a new k1 clutch just in case.

Very good presentation. My 09G problem (2007 Rabbit 2.5L 6 speed auto) is a loud clunk and can feel a jerking, when up and downshifting between 1-2, only happens when transmission hot after driving about 20-30 mi. Higher gears seem to be fine. I am guessing that it is a sticky solenoid valve but not sure which one or if a combination of solenoids. Any suggestions would be greet.

how do you put end caps on soleniod? you need little press?

after you cutoff the solenoid end and put the metal cap on... How does the metal cap stay fixed? thanks.

Hello Hiram, I really enjoy all your videos and helpful hints on rebuilding the 09g valve body. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S. I purchased the TransGo shift kit from our local transmission parts store,in Kansas city, MO. Ive been an auto technician for 31 years. Mainly Engine performance. I have a problem, with my valve body.I'm sure it would be pretty remedial for you. Unfortunately, not for me... I'm scared of it now. my question to you is are you familiar, of any reputable "09g" person I can ask for help. I will ship the valve body if necessary. thank you

Ok I have a mk5 jetta 2.5l non dsg... I have the g195 output speed sensor and I know I have to take out the tranny pan and it's somewhere in the valve body... my issue is I removed all bolts and it hasn't popped off

Question why dint you just open it up upgrade the bushings . second youre just checking for ohms how about pressure test ? Is it holding its pressure ?

I have a 2005 beetle with the 09G trans. It use to shift hard when warm while driving. From a stop when warm when shifting from Park to Drive it would shift very hard also. Would the trans-go shift repair kit help. Your videos are great! You should have a tech-line!

WOW! This is so clear and well done. I learned a lot and am now considering trying the valve body replacement/rebuild before I try a new transmission. My big worry is damaging the electrical connections and causing more problems. QUESTION - how did you get the new caps mated the solenoids? Did it involve a press?

Hello Hiram, I realize your busy and I hate to bother you. If you can tell your audience the torque specs for the valve body bolts we would appreciate it. Alldata says 8 - 11Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°) . ATSG manual says 8-11 Nm . read online 20)Ft.LBS. what do you recommend?

What problem were you having that lead you to rebuilding the Valve Body? I have a 2006 Beetle that I am working on now. After it warms up, about 10 miles, it has a shudder/harsh shift into 3rd gear.

Great Video , you pointed the solenoids backwards at the end, also N282 not N228, N88 & N89 were pointed backwards too. whats the difference in shifting after this kit is done if there were no shift issues to start with? Thank You for sharing your knowledge .

I have the 6F21WA out of a 2006 mini cooper. The car drives for about 10 minutes and then acts like its in neutral. I don't mind diving into this, i just wonder if it could be VB or software computer issues? It does seem to have a wind to it and throwing code p0734 any help would be awesome

Mi tansmision es de un vw Passat '01 4 motion 5HP19. El carro en superficie plana tengo que acelerarlo bastante para que empiece a mover, ya con velocidad los upshift son buenos solo de 3 - 4 se revoluciona mucho y bang entra Hope you can help

Hi Hiram, i got my valve body installed and your videos were a great help. Unfortunately, now i have a P0798 pressure control solenoid DTC. i installed a valve body i bought from a company in North Carolina called Revmax. my installation went well but i'm not sure what i did wrong.The transmission will let me select park and reverse, but when i put in drive, the transmission selects 5th gear.Any suggestions you might have would be b greatly appreciated. Did you ever solve the P0798 code, if yes how did you manage this? I also have a 03 TT with hard shifting problems, thinking of replacing the VB. But now I am not sure I want to do this bacause of the P0798 code you mention.

Hi, I have 2005 jetta and done the shift kit install following this video bc of transmission issues that I have. This kit helped but I am still getting hard shifting when the car has been running for thirty minutes or more. My next steps are to reset the transmission control module and with some researh I have gotten to think that it could be the transmission temp sensor. Any comments or suggestion would greatly help. hi hiram . do you know what is the operating temperature of these 09g units . mine from an 03 audi tt is running around 100 C which seems really high to me . the distrubution pipe inside the atf cooler was broken so i removed it. just did the transgo kit on it but i didnt drill out the big spacer plate , just cleaned the bushings and drilled the small holes. i am now getting harsh shifts and huge flares on higher gears .the new transgo kit has 3 small drill bits and it seems the kit you are installing comes only with 2 drill bits . what are your thoughts

Just so you know, WD-40 is a solvent, not a lubricant. In other words- don’t use WD-40 on your valve body unless you clean it all off before reinstalling it on the transmission.

i recently rebuilt the 09g transmission, the reverse clutch pack was destroyed ant the front pump was bad. completly rebuilt transmission. installed reman valve body and the transmission engages reverse hard and when it shifts mainly 2nd to 3rd it revs up and then goes in gear. and sometimes on all other gears real rough hard supshift and down shift. please help. o I used global transmission fluid, im flushing it out and seems to still do the same thing.

What if my reading on all the solenoids are 10 Ohms? All meaning all of the solenoids including the last two as well. Just for the record this is a 04 Beetle 2.0 4cyl. 6 speed automatic transmission.

Hi Haram very good video. I have a question about the Primary Pressure Regulator Boost Valve Sleeve. What do you find is the normal setting on a valve body that is used in a Jetta 2.5L? Edit: I took a before disassembly photo of the valve body. Using that photo I found that the boost valve sleeve was set to the middle step of 5 possible positions. Giving two steps lower or two steps higher possible for adjustments.After installing the TransGo kit and setting transmission to basic default values with VAG COM, the 09G is back shifting great! For the DIY people, you must reset the 09G back to Basic Setting. If you don't the transmission will not shift good with all the bad learned settings.
