I didn't get to read the book, but I've seen the movie like a million times and I love it. Excellent book cover. Congratulations on finishing your summer 15. Stay sweet <3
The struggle is pulling away from tech media. The most I ever read was when I was stranded in the Mojave desert for 4 days. I read 3 books. When I was in hs, I sadly went for the cliff notes.
I read this about 12 years ago. It's important to understand that the novel was deliberately written as an update of the two author's childhood love of SF/Fantasy/Horror/Pulps/Movie Serials, etc. It was meant to be a 'fun' read, rather than a totally serious one.
I haven't read this but I own the movie which is great. I've had dreams about "carrousel". I'm assuming they call that in the book too when people are sent to their death. You should really see the film.
People still read but they do it electronically now. They're missing out on the tactile pleasures of reading: to actually hold, feel and smell the book in your hands. Silly modern people.
