Great video, nice comparison. I love the Ascent 18, bought 2 for $99 each. The Evo Pro is $168 and performs better with a brushless esc/motor than the other 2 and the FX118 is too expensive at $199 even though it's 2 speed, I could see it for $179 but I'm a cheapskate. The FX118 has the best looking body, but all 3 are nowhere near the type of scale detail I like on my rigs. I 3D printed an 1965 F100 body for one of the Ascent 18s I have and the other I put an SCX24 1967 C10 body on it and they both look great now and are a blast to drive.
@@allanarstarfyre thanks so much! I agree the price range makes a HUGE difference. Also, I didn’t even mention this part in the video, but the slop in the drive train for the Evo Pro is a huge problem. I also recently found a scale interior for the Ascent18 from Part-Time Hobbies, and it adds such a great scale look!
So just my 2 cents. I really feel like if you were to just base it off ability Redcat wins. I think the line choices were a little different and you could have rock hopped onto the stairway to heaven obstacle. I do feel like you need to gas your way into and out of things more with the Redcat because it doesn't have the commanding slow crawl like the other 2. Before I purchased my Redcat a buddy( with more disposable money than me) brought over his rigs and the 2 that were still stock at that point were the Evo and Redcat. The Redcat, obstacle after obstacle could not be stopped where there were certain limitations that we found on the EVO. Keep in mind this was just us messing around on my indoor course and out and about outside ,but I could not believe how great the Redcat is out of the box over my axial scx24s that were modded. Just blew me away. So of course I bought one that night lol. The Evo is great but I really feel with wheels and tires and making the Redcat brushless the Evo wouldnt stand a chance ( i added tires on this example because I feel the Evo has better stock tires) Anyhow great comparison they are awesome platforms. I haven't gotten to try a fury wagon yet but hope to soon. Keep up the great videos and ill keep a watch out for the 5th rig!
OHHHH and price point. You like me purchased the Redcat at that awesome $99 release price compared to the EVO at what like $219 and the Fury wagon at $199.
@@F.N.G.RC1 Yeah, that intro price for the Redcat was unbeatable! And I can't/won't argue with how awesome those Ascent18's are. I ended up with 2 of them because they blew me away so much. What really gave the Evo Pro and Fury Wagon the edge on the course was the brushless Furitek systems having FOC. That makes such a huge difference with slow crawl and controllability. But to be perfectly honest, you can't go wrong with any of these 3 models!
Disagree with just about everything, other than measured flex and I suppose the speed test, but these are crawlers? No price comparison? Turning radius? Ground clearance? CG? Every other tested metric is subjective. Wheelbase/weight/motor type are all driver preferences.
@@gom4ngo745 I would argue and defend myself, but I actually agree. 😂 When I was totaling the scores at the end I realized what you said. After I posted this, I started thinking about doing a follow-up and measuring several more things (a lot of what you mentioned.) Thanks for checking it out and letting me know!
I own the two lesser expensive of the 3, Unsure why the redcat is the one that returns the favor when i turn it on. Got the torpedo setup ready to install, im sure it will blow the wagon away
You should redo your test on the track and run all three on the same lines and the same way. The way you drove the redcat was different then the way you drove the other 2. Plus driver error was one of the touches you had on the redcat and yet you still recorded the touch as a ding, but you touched the fury wagon 3 times and one was driver error and you didnt count that touch. As I see it you were not unbiased in this comp and makes for inaccurate resaults. Lets also include the price for these vehicles, the redcat did almost just as good as the others and it is a brushed system and it is 100 bucks when the other 2 are 200 and up.
@@twain772 that is a solid assessment. I definitely wasn’t TRYING to give any of them an advantage, but I can acknowledge it wasn’t completely fair. My scoring system was also flawed in that it didn’t give credit for how much better trucks were in each category - just a flat 1-2-3 point system. So if one of them was WAY better, the scoring doesn’t reflect that. All in all, I do think the results reflect the proper ranking, but the scoring is wrong. I think the Ascent is way closer than the scores reflected. Thanks for checking it out and the feedback!
