Land Rover's early Series I and Series II vehicles with the offroading capabilities were made for the companies in the mining industry or for usage at the private farm lands. However people from all walks of life started using the early Series vehicles as all purpose, all weather type workhorse.
To appeal to the more affluent customers, a complete new model named Range Rover was brought out in 1970. The look and feel of the first generation Range Rovers remained unchanged for almost 24 years, and the 5 door version became the vehicle of choice as a daily drive for the rich and famous.
