We go for a cruise in RIPIN! Then go and check out my dads 06 Ford Falcon Utility which has over 1.2 million Kilometres since he bought it brand new!! Music: www.bensound.com Instagram @rossholland88
Seen a few ex-taxi AU's with well over a million K's, highest we had come through for a service had 1.7 million on the original engine although it was on it's second auto, some old couple bought it to tow their caravan around Australia, I often wondered if it made it the whole way round too. There was a reason my the AU's were the cabbies friend. There's still a few BF/FG falcon cabs getting around, mostly being replaced with Toyota Corolla's sadly.
@@RossHollandAU I’ve seen a few in my workshop over the years but never have I seen one with such a story behind it. The best I have seen in my shop is 320,000ks before it needed a strip down.
Bugger me bloody impressed thats a stout amount of ks. I thought my old tb42 with 530,000 was going strong. Merry skidmas mate hope 2022 is a rippa year for ya
I wanted to get a territory diesel but the mechanic told me ,just get the barra and so I did ... I was worried for the fuel but isn't that bad either! I want to keep until is deadbbutbit has the zf6hp26 not sure it can last that long as the 4 speed . Shame ford Australia is gone
It probably did most of those km on the open road without stopping. Also, the gearbox wouldn't have been doing much changing and stayed in the locked up stage in final drive much of the time, saving the oil from sloshing about inside and getting so hot as well as saving eventual wear on the torque converter components themselves as well as the other moving parts of the.transmission. Still a testament to the longevity of the engine. I wouldn't change the oil now as it's been in there too long and I've heard it can cause damage to change it after having the original oil so long. The Barra in the BF had some upgrades over the BA, but it won't matter now that the car is such a high km vehicle. As long as the replacement engine was obtained for a good deal.
Love these stories. Probably hasn't seen a detail in it's life but just dors it's thing. If it's got a BA motor but original was a bf, did the computer need to be changed?
I have a BA tonner that has 500k on the clock but it had a BF engine, box and diff fitted which has now about 250k on it. I’ll be putting it to work as a pilot vehicle shortly so she will start racking up the km til I retire it in favour of an FG, hopefully FG-X with a few more gears for economy.
Would love to know more. Like how often he done oil change, did he do it religiously on time. Did he use the same oil brand or vicoucity everytime, how often did he do the coolant, did he drive it easy all the time? Ltrs per 100 ?
Merry Christmas to you too mate! It had its oil and filter changed every 5000km... i think sometimes he would stretch it to 8k. So yeah pretty regularly haha
I serviced the ute every 15,000 km's never missed a service, ran Ford oil for every service but never touched the gear box. Put in a K&N Filter from the first day and it still has the original K&N filter in it.
Got a RTV been 3 starter motors lots of brakes ball joints control arms. But different driving lawn mowing business Sydney beaches. Heaps of traffic lights and lot of turning car off and on. But it’s been a awesome work vehicle unfortunately it’s rusting up a bit from salt air. But been a great work car.
Yes, I believe the engine and diff did do these amount km's , but the transmission not been serviced would not done these km's. I used to work for BTR for a living
Thermostat, Struts, Balljoints, Control Arms, Battery, Hoses, Gear Selector bushing/linkage, Sensors (i.e. O2, MAF, etc), Serpentine Belt (maybe the pulleys, too), Spark Plugs, Injectors. I refuse to believe it went 1 million Ks without any those being replaced. Other things that I might expect to fail with time instead of Ks would be things like switches, relays, motors. i.e. window wipers, door lock actuators, horn etc. Yea these cars can go and go. But that's only if you spend the $ replacing anything that fails.
@@D3V1L0M3N to be fair it did all the km sitting at 110 km on pretty decent roads, im sure it went through wipers and the usual service items. I should know I serviced the thing since I was a teenager haha. It did need a water pump which I think I did mention im the video. Hard to believe but the old man did own it from new and ot got serviced without fail 🤙
Ah yea, was it a pilot car or something? That's the thing with these fords; engine usually outlives the rest of the car - especially the paint lol. But I reckon it's time that gets to them more than Ks. i.e. my BA only got 200,000 and alot of the parts made of plastic or rubber started to go. New hoses, radiator, etc and she's sweet 😀
@@D3V1L0M3N he was a country courier driver like 800km per day, Ford promised him it would 1 million km if treated right with 🤣 guess they were sorta right
Damn I’d love to do that. Can I ask what company he worked for? 800km, reckon that’s about Adelaide to Melbourne. 10-11 hour drive. All the B-doubles do that run. Then turn around and go back next day.
So the oil has never been changed in 1.2 million kilometres? Never had a air filter swap over or had the radiator flushed or had coil packs changed over at all??
@@RossHollandAU do you know what exhaust he is running mate? Or is she the good old original with a few holes in her? Sounds unreal when you turn her over
He was a long distance courier driver working for courier Australia. Would head from Albany WA to all the inland south west towns and back again each day doing deliveries and pick ups 😎 was great for my L plate logbook 🤣
@@RossHollandAU Oh that sounds like a great job! Thanks for the reply. I drive trucks and even I don't manage those KM's hahah. Yeah the logbook would have been finished very quickly 🤣
Damn don't even need to push it hard into park!? Bunch of older BA/BF work Utes that have come to the shop I work at that if you want it to go into park with the BTR you gotta push it hard into park else it'll just go into reverse.
No diff brushes, solid axle👌 I'm sure theres a ball joint in there somewhere haha interior has held up believe it or not lol highway km saved alot of that 👍 the old man has had a lucky run... so many wheel bearing 😂
He was a courier driver! Delivered items to all the small country towns in southern W.A in one day in a round trip! Was great for doing my log book for the L's put 600000 on a Ford transit before the ute too 🤣
@@wertpollwert a few years ago for sure, getting rarer seeing million k bseries nowadays though still on the road 🤣 it's been a daily the last 5 years or so.. gotta love em
Leafs in the back are original same with the front shocks 👌the car spent alot of time on the hwy so suspension wasnt getting pushed to hard.. I don't even think a ball went in the front 🤣
@@RossHollandAU All good, that's an awesome achievement. I just bought a 500 dollar BA with 216,000km so surfing and researching what I might need for a roady. Keep up the videos 👍
I call Bullshit. I have a BA Falcon lpg ute with 516,000 km's on the clock and have replaced heaps of parts once vehicle went past 200,000 k's and then again at 500,000 k's. Driving on good sealed roads of Brisbane too. " Only replaced brakes three times " yeah sure.
It really rather depends on whether it's a petrol or gas engine, the gas engine will die prematurely due to valve retention in the soft alloy head, and whether or not it's a manual or automatic and whether or not it was driven in regional Australia or a capital city and how often oil and filter and coolant was replaced, auto transmissions will die in Falcons typically at 250000 kilometres in the city , but in the outback 500000+ if it's a manual they can do 1000000+ and the clutch kit can be bought for less than $200 for a Falcon, automatic transmission will cost around $2500-$3500 plus cost of fitting $500+ However this car had 217000 kilometres on the odometer, the odometer is capable of showing 7 digits so on this occasion I find the vlog hard to believe. All engines except diesel will end up with valve, ring and bearing wear, and the Falcon Intech and Barra engine are known for spun bearings and oil seal leaks not to mention coolant leaks especially prior to 2007
@@snapped4433 Did you read my comment? Im not saying that they are lying, it's possible for a country driven Falcon whether Intech or Barra to do 1 million kilometres, however only if they are looked after and I will make a distinction between country driven Falcons and ones driven in Australian capital cities, it's a known fact that country driven Falcons last longer, stopping and starting at traffic lights hasten the death of any engine and auto transmission, ask a mechanic about auto transmissions it doesn't matter if it's a Rolls Royce Holden or Ford, the clutch packs wear. Even Falcon taxis have their transmission overhauled between 250000 and 300000 kilometres. One of the most crucial factors is how often oil and filter changes were performed, if you don't change your oil and filter after 10000 kilometres you will have sludge build up that will definitely shorten the life of your engine, doesn't matter what car manufacturer. Diesel engines can easily do 1 million kilometres, but even they can fail prematurely due to neglected oil changes
@user-ds2ej3wn8p diesel engines fail more cause of egr, intake getting sludged up, low compression, injection fail I'm an engine builder and see more diesel than petrol for anything newer than 1990 previous to that its mainly v8's getting performance parts and machineing done
