In this part I am preparing the body. Step by step - priming, painting (Zero paints matched color for this kit), applying decals. At the end i apply semi-matte clear cote from Alclad. Thanks for watching!

Incredible build. Seems like a ton of body work for a newer model kit. Was the body in that bad shape right out of the box?

i would say that quality is top, you dont need to fix it at all. much work took fit the PE parts to body.

Great video, but one problem... can't tell what you're doing half the time because your hands are in the way and you don't show what you've done, you just keep in going without skipping a beat.

I've just ordered this kit. Would it have been better to paint it gloss black for optimal decal adhesion, then coat after with a semi gloss clear?

from my experience - the best way to weld large decals - not use a very gloss surface. There is a lot of risk do damage decal because of very good adhesion. I use Zero-Paints or Tamiya LP paints and then decals over it + micro sol. These surfaces a little rough and you have time to position decal as you will. Final result is the same. After that you can use clearcoating✌

in my case i used zero paints, mixed for this kit. this one is not gloss, more matt. (but i would not recommend this paint because of high aggressive to the plastic)

@@Scaleautoshop thanks for the reply. I'll have to have a think about the best way to do mine. Zero paints are almost impossible to get here in New Zealand, but tamiya LP paints are plentiful.

Hi there, I saw this video couple weeks ago. Right now I'm building a same kit. I'm on to point to put decals on....sooo there is a question. Can I put decals on tamiya semi gloss black directly or I have to apply gloss coat first?

hi generally you don't need to apply glossy finish. but be careful, you need to weld the decal well, especially the transparent parts of the decal, to avoid silvering

shop yup that's my biggest concern. For decals I have micro set and sol solutions and Mr.mark setter and softer.
