It's all true! I didn't think I had a chance to get back to the home arcade hobby until I discovered ATGames pinball and AIU cabs a year and a half ago. I went through the full-sized hobby 25-30 years ago. It was a big PITA, frankly - moving them around, maintenance, etc. Not to mention those cabs and PB tables that were near perfect back then that I was buying and selling for $100-$300 all day long, are now thousands in many cases. I think we are real blessed to have these machines come along.
Great run down. I feel like I don't need a million Arcade 1ups, but my ideal is. Well I have an iiRcade, an Arcade 1up Tempest, a big electronics midway cab, and a real pinball machine. If I could get an atgames pinball and a neo geo cab, I will feel complete!
Finally someone speaking my language! Haha. You might want to wait for AtGames to put out their 4k products because they might have something in there with light gun technology too. And if you have a gen 1 IIRcade glen from Glen’s Retro Show should be putting out a mod so you can have light guns on there too! What pin do you have? And are you on discord? We got a great community that doesn’t have drama and loves this stuff if you want to join!
I'm actually super excited about new wave toys. Even though I'm the only one that probably bought ghosts and goblins I can't wait to get it hahs. I'm curious to see what other cabinets they make in the future. Really interested in that boom box also. I had one that looked kind of similar when I was a kid to listen to my cassette tapes haha
@@pudboy3399 I was very tempted to do that. And I totally agree I think their value will increase too. Plus both those ghost n goblins cabinets look so good!
Feel like it could more be on the power of my laptop. But I'll have to look into that. I've been struggling with Streamlabs and getting it connected to Streamyards, hearing sound on my stupid games (I started another live with my son playing Sega Genesis games), etc. I'm a train wreck. I might need to set up a call on discord lol.
The handle bars on paperboy just called my name haha, I own 2 full sized arcades and honest the weight and multiple components are terrifying if you don't know how to work on, love me some A 1up and I don't knock the others cause i don't have them but the nostalgia of walking in my basement and seeing them on in my house just love it Great Video righy on point bro!!
Thanks Dave! This is for all those kinda beginning in the hobby since I don’t see a lot out there, but since you have two full size (put a pic in discord!!!) you know what I’m talking about!
I’m shocked none of your 1ups have broken. Every single RU-vidr has has had their machines break , Pdubs GT , Moat mvsc2 , mike B Tron , ALL of their pinballs , Killer instincts , and so much more. You are very lucky when it comes to that. Every day I see posts of peoples 1ups breaking.
Thanks for watching brother; yeah, I haven’t had a single one break. Huh, I guess that’s weird and yeah, now I feel super fortunate. I play them with my kids all the time and then a ton of high school and junior high kids play them each week. But I’m not grinding them; maybe that’s a difference. Since they aren’t in my home maybe that’s why they’ve held up? I don’t know. But thanks for stopping by! Much respect my friend! My real arcade, on the other hand…breaks down weekly lol
Everyone I know, including myself, who has actual real arcades are inside of them constantly. It is ridiculous how much work it takes to keep them running. So for the people who don't want to do that kind of constant maintenance, home arcades are a great way to go.
@@Thearcadeshack they are some work. They are 40 years old. Show me anything 40 years old that runs as good as arcades that have been used and abused , hard to find. All of my arcades now fire up every single time with no issues, but that will change I’m sure at some point. My DK and DK jr which are played constantly have arcade lcd replacements monitors and that saves a headache of a crt . Works well. Crts are 80 percent of the issues usually.
I've tried them all and agree the New wave toys products are by far the cream of the crop replicas. They're the only company that really understands arcade culture. I mean all the new products are even COIN OP with mini coins!!
Great video, although I don't agree that the iiRcade is the highest quality. I could show t-nuts falling off my cabinet. But others will say I'm a hater so.....
Hahahaha, I said New Wave Toys FIRST, and THEN I'd get one from each company. But I can't in good conscience tell people to get into A1up because of all the drama lol
Nice, comprehensive video! But.......I can understand someone's interest in collectible knick knacks I guess (Numskull, New Wave Toys), but to consider these as "home arcade products" is like thinking a baseball card in your collection makes you a shortstop. Having said that though, I recently bought a family member a Numskull Dig-Dug for his 50th birthday. I opened it only to make sure it works before I give it to him. The thing is a beautiful work of art. It's a near perfect rendering of the original cab. He's going to trip on it. They had a full size original in their house when he was growing up.
Thanks Dani but again, WHAT is an at home arcade product? Define that for me please. I think we need to define terms before we engage on thinking NWT aren’t arcade products. Make sense?
@@outruntheneonsun I can tell you what it is for me but it may not be the same for you or the next guy. For me, a home arcade product is a game that approximates size, look and feel of the original game. NWT and Numskull meet one of those criteria. Cute "collectible" knick-knacks but really, nothing more. But your mileage differs and I get that.
@@danidavis7912 well, to me it’s more than cute, but the ability to play the game is really where most of the nostalgia comes from. As far as emulation is concerned, NWT has the original where as often A1Up doesn’t. They do better in everything but size. So, my argument was if you are just starting out, see about NWT because of the gameplay through HDMI, the attract modes, etc. The price point is a lot easier to jump in to. I personally didn’t go this route, but out of all my at home products, the intro ones seem to be the smaller. Not objective truth here though lol just subjective
I believe it is a chip issue but they are planning on releasing more in the fall/winter once they can get back to schedule. It’s a super small company with less than a dozen employees so they are doing their best to keep up with demand. If the could produce more then they’d be doing a lot better!
