That was such a well done video. You've always had a talent for presentation and the effort is always appreciated. Thanks again for the history lesson Dr. Dan🙂
There are so many that spawned from humble beginnings, and I’d have to agree with your list absolutely. Anything Toaplan is special, but yeah, thunderforce! I totally forgot about that…I’ll have to see if I have that on my pandora! Thanks Bones!
Hi Dan. I haven't seen a video from you in a while so I thought maybe you weren't on RU-vid anymore. Good to see you're still here. When I was a kid my mom and dad used to frequent a restaurant every weekend and I would get a babysitter. When they determined I was old enough, they took me along. That was when I saw my first Space Invaders cocktail machine. My mom and dad were drinking and socializing at the bar and I had a quarter in my pocket so I sat down, put the quarter in and started playing. When I got a "game over" I immediately went over to the bar to ask my mom and dad for more quarters. They were happy to oblige because that got me out of their hair so they could socialize some more. I played Space Invaders for hours that night. That was my first experience with Space Invaders and I just wanted to share that with everyone.
Oh dude that’s an amazing story. What a memory to have and to be able to love and appreciate such an iconic game. Seriously one of the most simple concepts done so well!
Although im not really a huge fan of your standard shmup genre there are a few of them i really enjoy. Gradius is definitely one of them. And i definitely never realized the impact they had on the video game world. Makes you appreciate them a little more.
Lmao yes I did. And what's funny is that one of my buddies growing ups dad looks exactly like that guy you used for me. Moustache and hair and everything.
Dan, what a great video. Such a great history of the shoot'em ups. You hit the nail on the head with the Robotron comment. It is the greatest SHUMP ever!
Yes!!!! That's when i was a fly, jive talkin cat. I was a lot taller then.😂 Shout out to Buck Rogers, I had a crush on Pamela Hensley back then. Great job on this Dan. 👍
