For my entire youth, going to the arcades held a special magic to me; when synthwave music ruled the day and John Hughes was king, when the ghostbusters reminded us that we should always say yes if asked the question if we are a god. We always felt the need for speed in those overcrowded mall arcades or those super seedy ones on the corner near the liquor store. This channel is all about remembering and recapturing that 80s sun in all its glory, basking in nostalgia of simpler times and finding ourselves absolutely blessed by the technology of today that reminds us of our youth (or the youth we desire today).

For me what makes this better than the older release is 1) comes with MK3 and 2) way better scanlines and speakers than the last release. The scanlines in the old version were awful. Tbh anyone playing without scanlines is a fake retro head imo, its like a movie buff who only has an hdtv and no blu ray player.
@@JasonLee-fc2ot thanks for the comment and question Jason; u fortunately, that operation would not longer be available. I just turn off the machine and restart the game I want each time. Could be annoying to some, but for me, it’s worth it! Take care!
The reason for the 'haters' is because the fighting game community is fiercely competitive and critical of anything that could affect wins against other top players. This is where things like button quality, screen lag and input lag all especially matter. The concept Marvel Vs Capcom 2 isn't for casual gamers comes from the fact that this game is played on such a high level so frequently. I find it a puzzling attitude though. The high end players are the type not to play MvC2 on anything but a CRT TV, much less play it in emulation. Arcade1up isn't the demographic for a tournament players.
Just ordered the first one, I know it has its problems but I’m so excited to finally get an arcade machine. I was wondering if you can tell me what buttons I should replace them with and also if you know any tutorials on changing the buttons! Great video🤜🏼🤛🏼
Hey! I’ve honestly been out of the arcade scene for a while now; been a full time pastor and just haven’t had the time to engage with videos and keep up. Plus, I sorta ran out of room! But DIY retro arcade has some good plug and play options for your buttons; the BEST person to ask or watch about that stuff is Bee from @kongsrus and he’ll get you squared away. Take care and thanks for watching the video!!
@@poody_Smoove994 not at all lmao? I just wanted an arcade machine and I also love marvel, I’ve never played these games before. (And I’ve been loving the machine btw)
@@ThaD0n yeah but now know those games will be on consoles later this year and only for $50 meanwhile you and the other dude spent $600+ on a arcade machine just for them to announce the collection just saying
A big concern of mine is the overheating issue I've been hearing about. The other issues (controls or lag issues) I feel could be fixed with replacement parts or updates. But the overheating issue could lead to some structural damage. Unless that is addressed, I do find paying $600 for that harder to justify
Awsome video. I just got the Xmen 97 edition with the MvC2 stool and i love it. Haters are gonna hate. Made a video about my unboxing experience and got a random troll that had nother better to do but to say all he heard in an 18 minute vidoe was "repalce my smoke detector" because it beeped a few random times. Im like please stay on subject my guy keep you ocd to yourself 😂😂😂. Keep up.the good work
Haha it happens! As long as you enjoy it my friend that’s ALL that matters. We don’t do things to please trolls, we do things for ourselves and for our family; enjoying the nostalgia and basking in that wonderful feel of the arcades!
Absolutely my pleasure. It’s been so long since I’ve posted videos as I’ve moved on from RU-vid, but had a blast making this one. Too many in this community are too serious; make it fun! Have a blessed day!
Thanks for making this video. I have one at my house , just got it a few days ago and Im waiting to play because my Power Cord arrived bent and broken so I had to buy one off of Amazon. Its arriving today and I'm just waiting to play. Always wanted to own an arcade cabinet because I grew up on these. MVC2 wasn't my first choice, because I wanted to go for the MK cabinet, but I always heard good things about how great MVC2 is , and I love the characters in it. Big superhero and Capcom fan, seeing Spider-Man, Akuma, Rogue, Storm etc in this is amazing. Eventually I will get an MK and Street Fighter cabinet or I might mod it with some more games to save money and space lol but this thing is awesome to own. People hate and complain in every community, so the crowd of haters isn't new. I'm just glad someone is making affordable arcade cabinets.
Arcade1up was never going to appease the hardcore MvC2 players. They are a tough crowd. I have MvC2 on PS3 and emulate on PC, but i still fire play on the cabinet because it's so accessible. Just switch on and have a quick blast. These cabinets are novelties, not professional grade hardware.
Great vid, first vid of yours l have seen, but l'm confused about the "console fanboy" comments, can you briefly explain what is going on there? l watch some other online Arcade 1Up streamers and l have definitely heard his name before, just not sure of the history.
Oh my goodness what a throwback memory. I regularly got caught skipping class to go to the 7/11 down the street to play the game over your right shoulder: Golden Axe. Only when i played it at the mall arcade did i usually play with multiple players but just seeing it here for the first time in over 30 years brought back many great memories of the game but bad memories of my dads punishment by taking away my home games and tv time. Totally worth it. No ragrets
Someone probably suggested already, but rather than hacking up the original cab front piece, just make another out of prefinished mdf or melamine. Appears to be a simple rectangular piece. Cut the replacement and store away the original
I'm still looking for a Computer Space game that won't break the bank. I actually got to play one briefly, at the Pinball Museum in Vegas a couple years ago.
bro, you don't understand the criticisms to any degree. in that way, you are not the average consumer. i'll just tell you what you don't know. first off 3/4 cabs suck because of the wobble. second, none of the games on the cab are arcade perfect, they all have lag. third, the online doesn't work. for those of us in the community of fighting game players (never call me part of the fgc), we all "need" an arcade perfect version of mvc2 hanging around. it's hard to find, and all of the ports suck. the only options you have are dreamcast and og arcade board, and that's it. being that this cab doesn't offer the opportunity to get an arcade perfect port, none of us want it. i could mount a dreamcast in a homemade cab and be more satisfied than with this rush job. it would cost less, too, and i could have it without riser wobble. i mean, if you like this unrefined product, more power to you, but the rest of us are still correct in our takeaway that it never needed to exist, at least not like this. the fact that 1up didn't deliver what pretty much everyone in the "community" is known to want, is what makes this an obvious cash grab. what we're saying is: 1up, you only had ONE JOB. competitive players are the target audience, and this sub par product doesn't meet minimum requirements. if they fix all the lag and put in roll back netcode, i'll buy it on discount from walmart when it's below 200, and that's all it's worth. at 600, you're out of your gd mind.
@@outruntheneonsun you really are clueless, aren't you, buddy? there's nothing to feel better from... you seemed oblivious, thought i'd help you out. you know, so you could understand your audience?
@@BobbyxZx super clueless here man. So thankful to have such amazing people like you to let me know how stupid I am lol. You are such a gift to this Arcade community; not sure how we’ve survived without you!
My first Arcade1Up was a Galaga I picked up at Walmart for $74. Over the years I have continued updating it, added a couple dozen games using the BBS PCB mod, riser artwork, led buttons, coin door with light up buttons. Next will be a light up marquee, a topper, and then an actual OG Midway coin door I just picked up last week. It’s awesome.
