Hi, I've never sold firewood. I bought a Husqvarna 380CD and a Rancher 44 in 1976. I liked them so much I became a Husqvarna dealer for 81/2 years. I also bought a SuperSplit ķenetic log splitter in 1978. All of these wonderful machines are still running strong. I have heated our home forc free for 46 years off of the trees that die on 21/2 acres. Only a true woodhound will understand, but there is magic in producing firewood. I love it! :-)) Shalom/gw

I would/will never fully disclose publicly on how much I accumulate doin firewood. The less the government knows the happier my life is. Moneys not everything. It’s the thrill of running a high powered saw with a sharp chain through a dense oak log or the moment you make that perfect notch followed by the sweet sound the hinge as the tree falls. The ability to race yourself as to how fast you can split a cord of wood per hour/day. How actually meditating it is to have alone time, being at peace as you stack your split wood to your liking. I’ve been doin my operation for a long, long time & I still get enjoyment out of every aspect of the job. Watching all kinds of firewood videos helps out too with other people’s perspective on firewood.

When times were very lean here, I cut firewood for sale. I had a look at what "daily wages" were if I went got a job - back then, it was close to £50 a day. I figured if I sold 3 small trailer loads of firewood at £25 a load (which was cheap) I'd be equivalent "income" to "a job" allowing for costs. I had a small trailer, a crappy chainsaw & I went bought a maul. Maul was £15. "Wood" was whatever had blown down in storms - I live on a farm. That helped. What didn't help (or matter) was that the wood wasn't really dry, the trailer was small, the chainsaw was crap, but each & every day I sold 3 or 4 small loads at £25 a load - let's not discuss how much sweat it took - but it was close to the most fun I ever had "Making a wage" without having to listen to some "Boss". Most days I'd deliver to regular customers who would have a breakfast waiting for me, or coffee & sandwiches when I finished unloading wood & we'd shoot the breeze for a bit over bacon & toast. It was a nice business to be in & I have fond memories of selling firewood. Can you make a living at it? Absolutely - but it takes hard graft. Then again - I had a few "Jobs" of the normal variety & they expected total commitment, day in & day out, waaay more effort than just doing your own quiet thing. If people worked as hard for themselves as they work for "a job" they'd probably amaze themselves. But most don't, for some reason. Baffles me.

I have been self employed for over 30 years I could never work for anyone else, it would be like slavery to me! Yet I work 7 days a week and never less than 12 hours, more often 16 and I love it, can't wait to get at it every day!

Chris, I can tell you about all the bumps and brides. I,be had um all. One thing I will share with you is how to stop getting your shins skinned up. Go to a sports store and buy a pair of baseball shin guards. There are different lengths you can get, so buy the length or height that will suit you best for how you get hurt. I have to wear knee heigh support socks, so what I do is stick them down in my socks and they stay put all day and save my shins every time. Try it, you will like it. Put em on in the morning and take them off at night. They also sell socks to hold them in place.

To me I do all that stuff for free because I like it and get paid for delivering the wood. I have no idea how much I make per hour doing it. I just know I end up with money in my pocket once the wood has been dropped off. Keep up the good work. Love the videos.

How much is a face cord of seasoned black locust over there? I wanna do this. I have tons of black locust on my land in western NY. I cut down a bunch of smaller ones and have it drying now. It will be dried for almost 2 years this fall. I've already sold small batches of it from dead trees that were already mostly dried. I'd lowball it because I was cleaning up the property anyways and would have just burned it myself for campfires. I wanna sell bigger amounts though. I'm gonna cut them all down mid-late February depending on the weather. This channel is great!

We love camping and my "duties" are too get the outside set up while my Wife does the inside stuff and right after I get everything set up, I pull the cooler out, have a beverage and start a fire and it doesnt ever go out until about a couple hours before we leave. How did the sales pitch go? Ive started asking a few places where I thought bundle sales would be huge but all have said no within 30 seconds. Seems where I live, the business owners are afraid of any type change or something new and are stuck in the 50's.

If I can get a dump trailer I could market my wood to a local campground. If I get a dump trailer I could talk to my buddy and my tree service guy for wood source supply. If I have a good chunk of the wood chunked up I can a face cord in a bout an hour by hand so an afternoon to do two cord for a delivery which would work out to be 450. Cause I charge 75 a face. I only cut and split hardwoods.

Can get wood all day long in ny area, hardwood, for $65-75 per facecord. But with the work those people put into it, they can't be making much money for the effort involved.
