Enjoy this intermediate yin yoga class exploring asymmetrical backbends which stretch deeply into your quads, hip flexors and psoas, building into Dragon Tail and Cat Tail poses. 💛
Level: For Experienced Practitioners
Props: 2 Blocks, 1 Strap
Yin Yoga is well suited for anyone seeking deep relaxation, increased flexibility and therapeutic stretches to relieve tension in the muscles and joints of the shoulders, neck, upper back, lower back and hips. Yin works for seniors, inflexible people, and anyone looking to recover from injuries or pain in the lower back, shoulders, neck, knees as well as conditions such as sciatica, anxiety and depression.
The class was filmed when I'd just started making videos and before I upgraded my equipment, so the sound & video are low quality but it's still a favorite. Sorry about the loud popping sound in the intro!

I’ve been doing this regularly for months now and I see no end in sight. I’m a bodybuilder and this has done wonders for my hips and psoas. It’s made my physique more aesthetic and it’s improved my squat form immensely.

Sunday is rest day, aka long yin day😀. I picked that class bc i'm at the early stages of a yoga butt (=high hamstring tendinopathy), and most yin classes tend to stretch the hamstrings. I placed the bolster under the knee for the forward folds, to keep my knee nicely bent. As my quads and psoas tend to cramp to "compensate" wy weakened hamstring, this class did wonders, my leg feel much looser now ! Thank you Devi🙏(P.S.: your version of dragon tail using the wall is King Arthur's pose, very hard for the knee without cushioning !)
@DeviDalyYoga
@DeviDalyYoga Год назад
Oh yeah, me and good ole Yoga Butt go way back as well. Sounds like you really know how to modify and take care of it. Thanks for sharing the other name for the wall quad stretch, I like calling it that! ❤️

@@DeviDalyYoga i"m very careful with that pain in the *** (litterally !). I have a wonderful yin teacher (you), that's why I know now how to modify😉 The (maths) teacher in me always likes when she can teach some details to someone (King Arthur's pose)😀

Great practice thank you! I’ve been super tight from my running training and really needed this. I added in a wide leg forward fold because my adductors were so tight and it was nice after all the back bends too. Love ending with legs up the wall and the internal spaces you always reach with yin. Thanks again. x

Hi Devi, I enjoyed that deep practice, thank you. I have two questions. Where in the body is the psoas? And how often should we do yin yoga, is it ok to do daily? Can you overdo it? That’s three questions. I enjoy practicing with you, thank you 😊
@DeviDalyYoga
@DeviDalyYoga 2 года назад
Hi Rachel 😊 The psoas is a hip flexor muscle, and it’s located in front of the hip bone on each side. It’s connected to the lower back on the top end, and to the top of the thigh on the other end. To answer your other questions - YES, you can definitely do yin yoga every day; and YES, you can definitely overdo it! For everyday practice, more than 1/2 hour a day might start to feel too much, but it really depends on the person and how intensely you are going into postures. Also if you find yourself doing daily yin yoga, you should make sure you are balancing yourself out with some sort of strengthening activity.
@rachaelaskew6759

@@DeviDalyYoga Thanks Devi for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate your generosity in doing so. If I don’t get a chance to exercise in the morning I find that yin yoga is all I really feel like doing in the afternoon or evening. So some weeks I find myself doing it a lot, and occasionally have had sore hips, but it does wear off after a few days. I will keep in mind balancing yin with strength exercises or more strenuous yoga. Thanks again, Rachael from Australia
