- San Bernardino, United States - Glen Helen Pavillion - August 20, 2005 - The Early Days Tour/Eddie Rips Up Tour CHECK OUT MY OTHER IRON MAIDEN VIDEOS!
I was there backstage when this happened. I was helping the giant roadcrew guy into the Eddie suit when eggs started landing behind giant drum riser. Bruce was epic I remember him saying these colors don't run and Dave using his guitar as a shield to fend off the projectiles. what a cool day at work. Iron maiden hard core fan since 1982 fuck the chumps
I was seating in the seats below the general public area at the last Ozz feast in San Bernardino, Ca. area. Iron Maiden came on & from what I saw. Some one in the pit threw eggs at the lead singer. The music was shut off for a couple seconds 3 times. I remember this very well..
@@mikebrown2948 I don't like Iron maiden myself, but Bruce is just a legend, and the coolest rock star you could ever want to meet. I met him mid-90's at rock city in nottingham. He was doing this all nighter thing with his fencing. He was facing off against drugged-out drunken rockers in a contest to win some special prize or something. I don't remember the exact prize I was a bit wasted on booze and substances myself. But I remember my interaction with Bruce, and he was so cool. I was at the front when he was going to do one of the fencing sessions, and I saw him standing at the side. I shouted "Hey Bruce, over here", not really expecting more than a wave. He came over, and chatted for a couple minutes while waiting for the announcer. As he headed for the stage I said "stab some fucker hard man", and when he got on stage he got on the mic and said "at the behest of some geezer in the crowd, some fucker is going to get stabbed to death tonight". Really nice guy, really friendly, down to earth, but has that star quality, where you just know he was going to be a rock star even if he didn't try. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry have that same aura. A few others do too. You know it when you see it.
I was 13 and was there with my old man. He was working in California at the time. We were up in the lawn with the bonfires. I also remember the audio being cut several times. Then Sharon Osbourne going on stage after Iron Maidens set and saying that she loves everyone in Maiden and their crew but called Bruce Dickinson a cunt. She later said in an interview on some show that she "gave hundreds of eggs to a bunch of Mexicans that she gave tickets to Ozzfest that are friends of people that work for her." Crazy
I’ll never forget seeing them on this tour in Columbus i was only 10 years old and my dad took me. Ozzy didn’t show up as always so maiden played an extra 45 minutes. They will ALWAYS have more class than Sharon could ever hope for.
@@James-hh1lq piss off with your sold out bullshit,a couple of chart songs like bring your daughter and holy smoke does not mean shit, would you rather all bands spent their entire career’s playing in dingy underground clubs “ keeping it real” instead of progressing and making something of themselves ?
Maiden ruled that festival. In Seattle there where more Maiden shirts then any other band T. Rob Zombie killed it on the second stage and Maiden just fucking dominated it. we left 2 songs into Sabbath because they just couldn't compete with what we had just seen. Maiden was is and always will be the greatest metal band on this or any other planet.
+Mac M you want to come on here and diss people for having an opinion, one that possibly differs from yours. Then play stupid when your dumb ass gets called out for it. Your a waste of time you little fucking troll
Vaden Newman play stupid? i have no idea what you mean. i think i have been very straight forward with my thoughts. i dont know what you are referring to me about playing stupid. i dont flip flop about bruce DICKinson being a whiny bitch.
I'm so happy some one got this on video. I was there for that and when I tell people they had never heard of this. I'm so happy I wasn't just having a heat stroke and imagining it.
@Rita Lovett I'm so sad that the atmosphere was so bad. I'm sure nobody enjoyed it. Maiden shows are never like that. No one is aggressive. This is like an upper class of any rock/metal gigs. And that Ozzfest was simply one big mess.
@Rita Lovett Yes! That's because they are true professionals who care about their fans' experience. That's why they are still touring the world and are welcome everywhere! Fantastic men!
didn't know about this until now. I always saw Sharon as a self-involved person, but at the same time I always latently respected her for kicking Ozzy in the butt to stick with his career. now I know that woman is genuinely crazy.
Ozzy used to be good on stage becaus he was drunk al the time and now he isn't good on stage becaus he WAS all the times drunk on stage. Bruce never was drunk on stage, he was good back then and today he still is...
The REAL REASON , Sharon cut the power and had eggs thrown at them was because Ozzy didn't play a lot of the gigs on that Ozzfest and Maiden was upstaging Ozzy, and Sharon is a weak human being and couldn't handle that
I remember when this happened, some good soul ripped an audience recording to a website and I downloaded it and listened to it and felt some serious rage, Ozzy is a legend, yes, but Maiden are equally as important in the world of rock and metal, doing this made the Maiden fanbase tighter than ever! Whoever decided that this was a good idea probably regrets it now, because putting a massive band like Maiden on your festival, knowing that they would be the biggest pull at ANY stage of their career, and then ruining the set, ruining the day for many, many people is extremely poor thinking. As Bruce said, 'these colours don't run!'.
Bruce did make some disrespectful remarks about how Ozzy was yesterdays news and that Maiden don't need a tele-prompter, so I can understand that Sharon got angry. Steve Harris (bass-player of Maiden) personally apologized to Ozzy for what Bruce said on stage. But that being said, she should've just confronted Bruce backstage instead of having some of the audience throw eggs. Some of the audience were surely there to see Maiden, they shouldn't have to suffer because of some feud between Bruce and Sharon.
Yeah, he did. Ozzy said so himself, that Steve had come by his locker room to apologize for Bruce's remarks, but Ozzy had no idea what Steve was talking about since he was unaware that Bruce had said such things.
Tobbe JO Ozzy also said "Steve harris came and apologized to me in my locker room, and I asked him who he was... he said he was the bassist of iron maiden... and I asked him what that was." yeah... sooooo fucking believable that Ozzy doesn't know Steve Harris or Maiden... thats bullshit... Steve himself mentioned in an interview that he didnt apologize, and that he doesn't regret it...
The day that Sharon Osbourne finally proved to the world that she is completely unproffessional, childish, afraid of competition and a really disgraceful human being. Nice one shazza! Iron Maiden's gonna get ALL of you!!!!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Maiden is beloved in the far reaches and practically forgotten corners of every inch of this planet. The earned it with metal virtuosity and excellent writing, not to mention the all-out stage and light shows. Ozzy, while an icon, can't come close. Eddie should lop off Sharon's head and toss in a dumpster in a rough neighborhood. Let them retrieve it out of dumpster in Detroit or somewhere. Nothing against Detroit, them britches are grown rough.
Can't come close? Ozzy has 1.5x the lifetime record sales as Maiden and has sold out every major international venue that Maiden has. The only slight edge I'll give Maiden is stamina, as the last 15 years Ozzy hasn't really been performing well. But he also started touring 10 years before Maiden did and is 10 years older than Bruce.
I saw Ozzfest 2005 in Indiana and there were guys with mega phones at the entrance of the venue announcing that Black Sabbath canceled and Iron Maiden would be headlining.I was kind of surprised at how many ppl were cheering that Sabbath canceled. But then again Indiana hadn't seen Maiden in very many years.
I was there too, Not gonna lie, I stayed for half of sabbath, Also not sure if you caught Rob Zombie on the other stage earlier, that was a memorable one.
@@shinzousasageyo7066 you're a joke, do you even know that Dave Mustaine wrote the first three albums for Metallica, and then made a better band than Metallica Megadeth, Metallica fell so far down after Dave left, and Metallica will never be as great as Iron Maiden, Metallica are sellouts, and you're a joke
Does anyone actually like Sharon in the metal community? If Bruce was talking smack..fine, confront him and solve it/move on. Don’t get 100 people that don’t know them to throw eggs as well as repeatedly shut the power on them. She’s immature and sounds like something 4th graders come up with.
I saw the show in Detroit that started this craziness! Bruce totally destroyed Ozzfest while Maiden was performing! The problem Sharon had was that Bruce told the truth! Bruce complained that the festival cheaped out on the PA system and if it was an Iron Maiden show that they would hear a much better sound. Facts! Also said that Iron Maiden didn't need a reality show to attract fans. Facts! Also pointed out that Ozzfest used radio promotions to get people that aren't even fans to have front row tickets.. Be the 9th caller... Facts! I did turn to my brother and yelled in his ear.. "Did Bruce just trash Ozzfest while he's on Ozzfest?!" And my brother laughed and said, "Yep!" And I laughed and yelled back, "He's not wrong!"
You do NOT throw shit at Iron Maiden. Listening to Sharon's comments made me sick and I can't believe that was allowed to happen. But Maiden came through with class and delivered the best for their fans, I know who I would go and see again.
I would have gone home after iron maiden I would not want to watch ozzy standing in the same spot shouting come on iron maiden have been top off the tree for years and still are Lee Hambleton from Sheffield iron maiden fan from 1982 to present
I remenber wonderful.day since early to nigth wow the was best comcert I.been.ever was.black sabat and iron.maiden there was.something.unique happeng.in my life.
It all started at Columbus, Ohio ozzfest when he ranted about Ozzy rightfully. I was there. Then the next show theu played in that tour they got egged. Even ozzy fans agreed with Bruce.
I was there that night. People were pissed. So peeved that many walked out during the Sabbath set. Then again, Ozzy's vocals were the shits that night. I love (Ozzy and Sabbath, but that was definitely an "off" night for his vocals
When you go into a concert like this you are searched & patted down, almost impossible for ticket holders to get that many eggs in. I've worked at a concert like this, there was no way I was spending a good portion of my pay on food & drinks so I bought my own food & drinks carried in a sports bag. Initially they went to searxg me, but i showed them i was staff & they waved me straight through. So only staff, workers etc could get that many eggs in. Also concerts this days most of the audience is a very good distance away from the Stage. 1st few metres is always baracaded off, full of Security, Promoters, Promoters families & friends, & photographers. What am I leading to here? I've read a bit into this & eggs were landing behind the drum riser. 1st of all you have to get the eggs into the event & secondly you have to get close enough to the Stage {without many Iron Maiden fans seeing you}, to be able to throw those eggs to get the distance to land on Stage & even further to behind the drum riser. Pretty much is pointing towards someone connected with the event, & most likely even just Sharon herself.

Bruce says, that Ozzy needs a teleprompter when he's doing his tv program. And they ARE NOT Maiden fans. They're people sended by Sharon Osbourne. That's why they're acting that way
There are 2 sides to every story and according to Sharon, Bruce was talking ish about Ozzy and was being generally disrespectful towards him this entire tour. Reportedly, Sharon had enough on the last day and decided to Snap back.
@@andysalter7192 Not sure if Sharon tried that or not, but Bruce shouldn't have talked ish on stage about the very person who allowed Maiden to play on that tour. That was the hight of disrespect. It was Ozzfest not Maiden fest. If he had grievances he should have left the audience out of it.
From Wikipedia In 2005, Iron Maiden co-headlined the US festival tour, Ozzfest, with Black Sabbath. Lead singer Ozzy Osbourne's wife, Sharon, encouraged family friends and members of other bands to sabotage Iron Maiden's last performance at Hyundai Pavilion in San Bernardino, California, on 20 August,[77] in an attack which Rod Smallwood criticised as "vile, dangerous, criminal and cowardly", as well as disrespectful to fans who had paid to see the band perform "a full unhindered performance".[78] Osbourne ordered interference with the band's PA, delayed the entrance of Eddie, the band's mascot,[79] and encouraged members of the Osbourne camp to throw eggs, lighters and bottle tops from the front of the audience.[80] According to Dickinson, the attack was in response to his "disparaging remarks about reality-TV shows that she took personally",[80] although The Guardian reported that he slated the Osbournes' reality series and accused Ozzy Osbourne of using a teleprompter.[79] Dickinson has since denied making comments against Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath,[81] but admitted that he criticised Ozzfest throughout the tour, attacking their "corporate" seating layout and saying, "Most of the bands are there because they paid to be there."[82] Following the concert at San Bernardino, Osbourne released a further statement which accused Dickinson of making several anti-American comments,[83] of which Classic Rock stated that "nobody can present any cast-iron evidence".[76] In addition, Osbourne claimed that the flag-waving during "The Trooper" was disrespectful to American troops,[83] at the time fighting alongside the British in Iraq, even though Dickinson had always held a Union Flag during the song, being based on the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War.[76] It was also reported that Steve Harris had spoken to Ozzy Osbourne in San Bernardino, apologising for Dickinson's comments,[84] which Harris denies, stating that his words had been "twisted".[81]
I was at this show. When Sharon came out and said Bruce had been a jerk on this tour people booed her. This was the only time I ever saw Maiden and Sharon ruined it.
I remember this. They kept turning off the sound during their set. All bullshit aside, it was pretty funny watching it live. Ozzfest was One of my favorite events I ever attended 🤘🏼 Oh, and all the fires that started in the rear general admission was fun to watch too
Ok. Straight up and not just dissing or taking sides: What really happened? More than once I've heard Sharon be all like "we knew those guys for ages, and Ozzy offered them a sweet spot and treated them well, and every night Bruce would just slag Ozzy. What for? I just had enough of that disrespect." Yeah I'm a fan of the band but now I get curious. So, FACTS and events - what happened and what was spoken and how often? Who knows for real, and how much do you know?
Sorry to respond so late, just saw this. The lead up to this began with Ozzy being inconsistent during this tour, some nights was great, others he was off or missed shows even. So Bruce was interviewed about co-headlining and was happy to be on the tour but was mad at Ozzy for not giving 100% for the fans ( turns out, he was heavily addicted again at this point by a doctor he had been seeing for his 4-wheeler injury in England a year earlier). Bruce criticized Ozzy for being able to do a TV show and Commercials but not being able to give the fans an honest show. So Sharon being the cunt she is , had the sound crew cut out Maiden's audio repeatedly on their last show of Ozzfest in San Bernardino. They also killed their lighting and began piping random audio through the PA. The biggest slap in the face was she hired out some people including her shitty kids, to throw eggs as you see here, all being allowed through by security.
In my opinion whatever happened or whoever did anything wrong, fans that paid money should not pay for issues between Bruce and Ozzy, l was there that night and it pissed me off that Sharon asked the crew to cut the power off while Iron Maiden was performing (More than twice) that was so unprofessional, fuck Sharon and her whole family, assholes.
@FreezeInNiflheim Maiden aren't the only ones who do it. Kiss does it, Guns N Roses did it, Metallica does it, and one of the biggest perpetrators are Sharon and Ozzy. They've done this sort of thing at other Ozfests and other music festivals, as well as at Ozzy shows. There's a documentary where Sharon talks about all the press Ozzy got when he bit the head off the bat and how staging events like that is huge for tickets sales. So of course she brags about it.
I saw an interview sharon and ozzy did and she said that she arranged for some people she met in hospital to come and egg maiden, she said she sorted them out with the tickets and all that shot. She onfesses
Anyone who believes maiden set up this or any other "hoax" type thing doesn't know much about Iron Maiden. They have way too much class for that & would never fuck with their own concert for publicity-EVER.
I certainly don't doubt that it happens in rock/metal shows. I just believe that this particular incident was instigated by an angry Sharon and not Iron Maiden trying to get attention by having themselves egged. Also, Maiden's not really known for having scandalous behavior like bands such as GN'R, KISS, etc. From the shows, I've seen, they seem much more into the music than into controversy.
