Omg the dude in the suit is an absolute beast. He is not so young, or skinny, and wearing a suit and he outruns a lot of younger, skinnier people in running clothes wow. He is awesome
Cameron Gray But they probably aren’t Olympian. Anyway, um. Since I got confronted you can fact check yourself I guess. You sound kind of angry so ima just head out-
Haha it literally looked like he was just dropping his kid off after work. I thought that little kid was his son, and he just spontaneously decided to run with his son.
@@brockman562 it's surprisingly easy to run a 7 min mile. but yeah the guy very likely runs every day. I know a lot of middle to late middle aged men who run 8+miles a day averaging 7 to 8 min pace per mile. they don't go fast, but man they've got some great endurance!
Jason Olson yeah I know some older men who run a lot as well but this guy was overweight, I was surprised because I’ve never seen a man of that frame run a mile in 7:00 minutes, and with jeans on in 95 degree weather
Me: trying to break a 6 minute mile. nick: trying to break 4:11 in jeans. Also the way they are going to do my first cross country season with staggered start that is an f in the chat.
7:02 in a suit for a middle age man in a suit!! That's unbelievable. The vast majority of people can't run a 7 minute mile even younger people not in a suit
Not gonna lie-I was pretty bloody impressed. I was never a competitive distance distance guy-I ran a 5:32 in high school when I was 17. Defo never tried it in a business suit. That dude looks like he’s close to 60. Major props!
I run three miles on my treadmill while watching this… I always watch these because I know that they struggling even more then me! Y’all are fast runners
Have you ever raced running backwards on your channel? I seem to remember a guy on our high school track team that broke 40 seconds on our 220 yd track back around 1973. I just looked it up and saw that a man named Aaron Yoder has the mile record of 5:54.25. That sounds pretty fast. And you can pass out RUN GUM to the winners. Great videos! Keep it up!!
About 23 years ago I ran a competitive 5k race that started at 8 AM. As the gun was about to be fired to start the race, a cab pulled up, and a young man jumped out, still wearing his party clothes and dress shoes. He moved over to the checkin, got his number, and participated in the entire race, rather well as I remembered. The real amazing part was that the guy spent the night in jail for being drunk in public! What dedication!
I was never a distance guy but hells ya that’s fast! Hard to believe that it was only 7 years ago that Nick was a World Championship silver medalist...
Graham Strouse I think you may have misunderstood something, the guy who had a 1:47 was one of the college students (which makes it more amazing). Nick Symmonds’ pr is 1:42.95
The 800 meter guy who finished first is Derek Holdsworth from Virginia. He attended high school at Lafayette and broke Seneca Lassiter’s school record. Great guy with an interesting path to college At Western Oregon University and he would have been national Champion if the indoor season did not get cancelled.
When I started running 4 years ago I didn't have any special gear to start running. I just wore a pair of loose, kind of stretchy blue jeans and a comfy pair of non-running shoes. In 100 degree weather. Although I finally splurged after a few years, running in jeans wasn't as bad as people think. I wouldn't do anything more than a half marathon in them, but anything less than that is fine.
Great video. We have been looking for a clean substitute for the beer mile for the high school XC team. We settled on the "Egg Knog Mile" after the end of season, but this will be really fun for them.
I want to somehow be in one of these one day. I'm not that great of a runner. You'd kick my ass. Also I live in NY, so Oregon is a stretch. But they always just seem so fun to be a part of!
In high school I once got home late from a choir performance... when faced with either missing Track practice or training in a tuxedo I chose the latter(dress shoes too). Hurdle workout lol
This gives me throwbacks of high school😂 if you forget your practice clothes for X country then you still have to run with your jeans on. We had to do more than a mile though Everyone finished great, the guy in the suit is fast. I wouldn't finished in 7 minutes.
The winner is such a beautiful runner. He did cut the corner at the end of the back straight on the last lap though so I think you can move yourself up a place!
I old guy was probably just there at casually dropped a 7 min mile in worst clothes for running. He looks a bit out of shape but this guy is clearly a natural athlete!
Great content as always nick! Do u have any tips for my sister because she is 16 and is missing Europeans for 1500 and 3000 because of Corona and she has recently started to get sponsored by ASICS. She was just wondering if you had any tips on promoted their brand? P.s great video, keep the good work up!!!
