My sister once told me of a friend(let’s call her A) of her that had a problematic childhood friend(let’s call her B) that this girl got constantly jealous when A hung out with other people, feeling jealous of of those new friendships of A. The creepy thing WAS that she outright told A and anyone else that she was the sort of person that got jealous and bitchy of her friends hanging out with other people as CUTE or QUIRKY!! This turned my sister right off from this weirdo.

I rated An Enchantment of Ravens 5 stars and ACOTAR 2 stars too. My take on Enchantment is that while it does few things, it flushes them out so well. And the main character was so relatable and simple yet logical. It is also really cute and the romance is not...weird. The ACOTAR series on the other hand is a bunch of good ideas horribly executed, from the characters to the world to the magic everything is so half-baked, and it has some serious themes like abuse and mental health that it handles quite immaturely. But hey - hot guys! Weird sex! Who needs a cohesive plot? I do.

Your review on Enchantment of Ravens killed me! I am in the group that loved it. It was like a classic fairy tale that had meat added to it. I loved the writing. I also love how defensive you are about giving it five stars. It made me laugh. Well you usually do, but watching you defend how sweet and cute the book was took it up a notch. Nice.

i also read an enchantment of ravens last month although the only reason i picked it up at the library was because it said “ravens” in the title and ive had good luck with books that have birds in the title. i did really enjoy the book though😂

An Enchantment of Ravens is the purest, sweetest love story I've read! I really appreciated Isobel and how practical she was. So cool how she interrogated her insta-love for Rook. Think it subverted that trope wonderfully! Have you read Margaret's other book A Sorcery of Thorns? Also has two soft main characters and a cute love story... but also magical libraries and some more plot tension!

I totally agree with Cindy’s feelings on working full time. I think generally I was pretty happy in college and I enjoyed being a student, but once the work grind started I found myself scrambling to adjust to a new normal. I soon found I was too tired to really do anything else, even socializing with friends or family. I was just in survival mode. I have since found a remote job and the work-life balance is better. I’m starting to feel curious about life again and have picked up reading again, hence my obsession with Cindy’s channel!

I've just been browsing a bit of BookTube recently and I am so happy to see love for An Enchantment of Ravens. I saw so much charm and personality in that story. I'm not straight and can sometimes roll my eyes at hetero romances because a lot of relationships end up being blatantly problematic, but this was one of those books that made my chest hurt over how much I loved seeing their relationship blossom. I could ramble a bit more about other things, like the passion that emerges when Isobel starts painting or the clear criticism of the general glorification of immortality or the argument of what defines humanity, but you get my point. I love this book. Thank you to anyone who took the time to read my little rhapsody over it.

I loved 'An Enchantment of Ravens' for the exact same reasons you did (but you expressed them much more eloquently lol)! It was a little frustrating to see how people were disappointed and underwhelmed by it when it honestly was never supposed to be a massive drama-packed fantasy, but each to their own. I also really liked how the fae were actually shown to be a weirder, darker species than just perfect mannequins (ahem ACOTAR ahem). 'Sorcery of Thorns' was also great - more of an epic fantasy but similar fluff in prose and characters!

yes i totally agree! the faes here actually had depth and darkness to them and i thought it was fascinating to see their weaknesses as well

The book "radio silence" was actually written by an asexual British author who was i think like 17 when she wrote it. She wanted to write a book where she could relate without an overly distracting romance story because she's asexual
