The whiteboard explanations are great; instead of the standard issue 'You just do it like this', you're filling in the WHY you do it like this, which is a huge plus! Excellent as always.

I have learned a lot of basics from many off-road shows over the years, ie. xtreme off-road, the original truck with Stacey David. But Nate you have really fine tuned my understanding of many topics. #keep the white board. responding to your viewers/fans in a q&a is always a good idea. Gives it that personal touch. I admire your work! My name is Yadin and I am 17 years old from Israel, thanks to you I got into the jeep hobby this year. You gave me the courage to cut and build my vehicle (my neighbor has a fab shop so I have the acce to metalworking tools) , and I even started working in a workshop that builds rock crawlers. Thanks to all your videos I am really able to create vehicles at a nice level (rear steering, 4 link ...). Keep up the wonderful work! I would love a video on building driveshafts if possible 🤓

Worth a mention that the gain in traction due to sway bar only works if the vehicle is locked. I'm in a vehicle with open diffs and taking the sway bar off equates to a massive gain in traction when cross-axle obstacles.

Great detail on the explanation of the pan hard bar! The way you explain the suspension travel over its arc really makes it easy to understand. I always thought the goal was to align the pan hard bar to the drag link and I think you covered similar arcs through the travel is important rather than being parallel as I once thought

Subscribed. So impressed. I found your channel through catching a TrailRecon video (the Rubicon one). I loved the walk around of your rig. I am a Toyota guy, but there is a special place in my heart for the older Discos. I loved your rig and especially the "I got an idea, so I built it." Rather that MOST overlanders that bolt on 30K worth of parts. Your rig is built, not bought...highly respected. PLEASE, PLEASE, you are a hell of a teacher. Keep the 'white board moments', By far the best on RU-vid. I love that technical shit, and you explain it so well. Thank you. Keep the Disco Build Coming!

While I have a stretched 48 Willys CJ2A, my wife has a 2000 Disco II. She absolutely loves it. I'm getting ready to swap in a Disco I transfer case shifter so she can lock up the center diff when needed. Once that's over, she wants me to fab a roof rack like the one you made. We both appreciate you sharing your knowledge and fab demonstrations. I'm even considering grabbing the steering knuckles from a front D25 axle and installing them on the D44 rear of my jeep. It's been stretched 24" right at the step-up from the front floor to the rear floor and this kills the turning radius. I'm also running 235/85R-16s on factory pizza-cutter rims on the original narrow track axles, which _also_ hurts the turning radius - the system was designed for 6 inch wide 29" tires that would barely clear the frame at full steering lock. So right now my jeep turns like a crew-cab dually. My thought with rear-wheel steering is that even limiting the rear steering angles to not hit the inside of the wheel wells would still make a huge difference on tight trails and cramped parking lots. What I have in mind is to either use a hydraulic piston or modded steering rack attached directly to the axle and have a small self-centering hydraulic control mounted on the floor right beside the driver's seat. Of course, to be able to use that control for the rear axle, I'm going to have to convert the front axle to power steering first. You don't have many opportunities on the trail to make one-handed turns with the old Ross box steering. Thanks for the videos, and please keep it coming.

I did tons of research before I began my build. I took care of a small fleet of toys for the boss when I worked for a construction company but this is my first build of my own. I'm fitting an all Chevy drivetrain into a 1983 Nissan Patrol here in Saudi Arabia, where I am an F-15 maintenance contractor. It's an LT1 from a 1995 Impala SS, TH400/NP205 twin stick with D60 front and 14 bolt rear on links. I got the front end done with a 3 link. My steering link and pan hard bar are within about 3 degrees of each other at ride height. This was a "blank canvas" as you call it so I was able to place things where I wanted them. This video series gives me a great measure of confidence that what I'm doing is in the right ballpark, considering that there was a fair amount of guess work. Thanks for the inspiration as well. BTW, Saudi Arabia has some great off road terrain that I will be exploring soon.

Just wanted to add a tip for using the laser. When you make your plumb mark on the floor take a washer and line it up over the mark on the floor. This gives you an easy to target from the other side of the vehicle when lining up the line laser. Also Bosch makes a laser that does the lines and plumb points all in one. Bosch gcl 2-55

I did an 5.3 Aluminum LS/4L60E swap first and have not looked back. I now have a 40 Spline ECGS 14 Bolt rear and a full width Dana 60 front, both with spools. I kept the LT 230 Transfer case (one of the best features of the Disco, along with long radius arms) Working on Hydro assist so I can turn the 37" Pit Bull Rockers. I used 1" offset Heim rod ends on the tie rod and drag link instead of the bends. Tie rod is going to hit the frame side trackbar mount no matter what you do. I happen to have a 1989 Range Rover with a factory 2.4 liter turbo diesel. It's also a 5-speed. I've been staring at it for a long time trying to decide how to build it and I finally know what to do for the axles. It's about time someone made a real step-by-step educational video and most importantly, someone finally realizes the value of the Land Rover product. The gear driven LT230 transfer case may be one of the most versatile Offroad transfer cases ever built. Keep building Rovers and I'll keep watching. The last thing we all need is a Jeep build thread. No offense to your TJ, and i have jeeps too. Its just way more interesting to see something different.

I’m really enjoying and learning from the whiteboard sections. I think you’re balancing the fab:theory ratio well.

Hey just wanted to say thanks for the great videos on 4WD/Overlanding stuff. I really like the way you film the episodes and I am trying to use a few of your tricks in my videos on my old mini cooper. Looking forward to more content! Just got a subscriber from North Carolina!

Watching what you are doing I really regret not to live in the U. S. Here in Italy it is impossible to drive "legally" on the road a thing you build yourself even, for example, for someone with your knowledge. If you remember I've already said this but, you make fabricating look so easy. Keep on going!

Thanks! Thats very unfortunate but I understand regulations like this. It's definitely with safety in mind but I couldn't live in a country that won't let me build my projects!

Another great video. For the sway bar theory... I'll agree you have more traction, but only IF you have lockers. Without lockers, you are better without to keep some weight on the light wheel (i.e. no sway bar).

Love your videos! Whiteboard included! It really helps me (and I'm sure others) understand why you're doing what you're doing. Been following along and all your videos have been super helpful with an LJ I'm building with Super Duty axles. Thanks, and keep it up!

I am about to SAS my Nissan Frontier and have been doing a lot of research on 3 link geometry. Thank you for explaining the pan hard bar geometry as well.

That tie rod is very offset. You don't think it'll just rotate down and allow clearance with the pitman arm? Also flip the bolt over and shank it. That sway bar mount worked out so good!
