10,000HP Drag Boats | 273MPH in 3 Seconds! (World's FASTEST Drag Boats) These hydro boats pull upwards of 4.5G-Force of acceleration! Stay tuned for more in-depth TRC coverage during the 2023 season!
From a driving standpoint, these are extremely impressive but from the spectator standpoint the dragsters draw more of a crowd. You get more of an effect with the dragsters vs the boats
@@hammerlane3871For sure. I just commented about seeing the top fuel boats on Lake LBJ way back in '95, and they were impressive even then. They sounded just like the top fuel cars, which I've experienced in person quite often.
I still can’t believe that other RU-vid channels havnt come close to TRC. Dude we get to watch this for free man. The editing, production value the cleanliness and execution of the cinematography not to mention actually finding the vehicles themselves. What a damn channel man.
I remember watching these guys in the early 80’s when Rick Hendrik was a boat owner, and Eddie Hill was a driver. A lot of guys driving smaller blown river boats just sat in the open air. They were really nutz back then. They also had a flying start back then too.
Let me tell you WHY you need so much help to keep it going: That's because it's not interesting to watch. Simple as that. I'm a petrolhead, love mechanics and love going fast, but this is about as exciting as watching paint dry. I mean the first time (maybe two) you watch it, you are impressed. It's like watching Danny D fuck Lana Rhoades... for 2 seconds. I mean sure the man has a big dick, but it's not really exciting.
Watching these boats go this fast is the most insane thing you will ever experience. I go every year! Our brewery sponsors the war party TAF. Hope to see more crowds out!
It’s great to see these things still hummin. Jim, Brien and I finished the plug in the early 2000’s. We were nearly laughed out of the races at Red Bluff with the non-standard outrigger style, but look at the Bullet hull now. It’s through the continued effort of all the folks, both current and prior that have continued to advance this sport to do things that I think are equally impressive as the achievements of NHRA and F1. I’m honored to have played a part in this and in awe of the successes you all have achieved! Thank you all for your contributions to continue to change to perspective of what’s possible and keep new ink in the history book! Well done!
It's now been over 15 years since my ex SIL and I attended a top fuel drag boat race at Red Bluff. She lives in Redding, was absolutely flabberghasted and still talks about it.
*_There is only one thing crazier than a Top Fuel Drag Car... Top Fuel Drag Boat._* I have been on water in excess of 100 and that was plenty exciting. Can't imagine what close to 300 must be like on the water. Those boats don't just go fast, they accelerate at mind numbing G's for entire run. So many things can go wrong and when they do, boats are obliterated. Even with the breakaway safety capsule, the forces exerted on body can kill. *_Unlimited Hydro boats go fast, Drag Boats not only go fast, they get to top speed in seconds._*
I was there at firebird lake when they ran that 273mph pass. Top fuel hydro is the most insane motorsport racing. To go 0-275 mph in 3 seconds on water is something else. It really sucks this is the last season at this famous man made lake as they are removing the dragstrip and lake to build a shopping mall...
Glad to see SDBA still kicking. Rick Morrow and myself ran a Pro Mod hydro in the mid 90's. Started with a Sunkist jet and moved up from there. Looking forward to seeing some great passes this year. keep it goin!
I remember the hydroplane boat races on Belle Isle in Detroit years ago. Like Nascar. You have to experience it in person. Man, it is a heck of an experience. Salute to the racers and teams 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was fortunate enough to be on a vacation motorcycle trip back in 1995, and saw top fuel drag boats at Marble Falls in Texas. August, and hotter than all get out, but man! Woo-Hoo! To hear those things up close in person, was like being at the drag strip for the top fuel rails and funnycars! Awesome experience to see those boats go!
Liquid Voodoo driver Kebin Kinsley is a total bad ass. He not only holds the world record on water he holds the world speed record over 304 MPH in The War Wagon fuel altered. War Wagon team also has a nitro burning Pro Mod Corvette and their latest creation a old school front engine Nitro powered dragster. They also have a Funny Car body for the fuel altered and run Funny Car chaos with it. Kebin also has driven Top Fuel Dragster and was RU at Indy a few years ago. I don’t know if there’s ever been a driver who drives so many different types of dragsters. The War Wagon team often has a couple of their cars at the track at the same time and he drives all of them. He built the his first Fuel Hydro capsule back in the early 1980’s in our shop in Houston and we all teased him that it would never work having a roll cage in a boat. You got the last laugh Kebin ! I have to add he’s a really great guy that simply loves what he does.
Way back in the late 70s I was watching Boat races on TV, "Hydroplanes" i believe they called them. Well im sure those boats were nothing compared to these, but one of them bounced up, and its prop came out of the water for one second. It stalled, and a few minutes later they had it towed up to a dock. They opened the engine compartment, and the whole thing had melted into a "modern art masterpiece!"
Unlimited hydroplanes are still around, but they're a different beast. The hydroplanes are built light with turbine engines from helicopters and they go on a round course, so they're at top speed for much longer than these drag boats. Unfortunately the hydroplanes are rather accident prone and expensive to run so they rarely get more than 4 on the water at a time these days.
I was a locomotive engineer for many years, having bored you with that but if info, 😂. How in the hell do they get 10,000 horsepower out of those motors, a single locomotive has less than half of that. Love the sound of these beasts.
8 gallons of nitromethane fuel running through that engine in under 4 seconds. Yes, the top fuel dragster and boat engines nowadays really are about 10,000 hp. That is why the automobile top fuel drag engines are nearly melted each run! The last I knew, the top, fuel teams disassembled their engines after every single pass. Crazy, isn't it? Your giant Diesel engines that make electricity in your locomotive only run about 903 RPM wide open! But, make very high torque and h.p. numbers, and do so for many, many hours. And, on a U.S. freight locomotive, easily 6,000 h.p. or more at the traction wheels I'd say.
Finally! Been waiting a long time for you to come film these guys.! You gotta check out Grand Prix hydroplane racing ! HRL is the best series. GPA is also good
Man when I was little me and my father would go to High Point North Carolina and watch top fuels pass. I think its closed for boat drag racing. I need to find a place on the East Coast but heck at least I still have NHRA. Nice vid
I can see where twin, counter rotating shafts would start to get very important. Countering the sideways movement of a steep pitched prop plus devide the twisting force of so much power by two would save some breakage. Ive been over 100 many times. This is another planet compared to that I know.
I can't even imagine 273 mph on water. My grandfather pushed a 20 foot Baja with a Mercury 200 on it and it would get up to like 65 to 70 mph. It felt like we were going twice as fast though.
Ok I have a few questions First how many Gs are they pulling? Second how many gallons of fuel per run? Third have the engines been dyno'd to get the 10K hp mark?
It’s pretty crazy seeing the W-Drive and these fairly innocent looking 2 blade props underneath these top fuel hydro’s especially compared to the offshore racing props
