Give it about 10 or so years then we'll have the Dune "7.35 Hour Maud'Dib-Fremen Cut" ( with deleted, additional, and imaginary scenes restored and a limited edition Water of Life In A Bottle Collectible) WARNING! DO NOT DRINK! It's Actually Windex!
Saruman did not die in the Lord Of The rings. Saruman takes over the Shire in The Lord of the Rings through his underling, Lotho Sackville-Baggins. This takeover occurs during the Scouring of the Shire chapters, when the four leading Hobbits return home after destroying the Ring and find that Saruman has enslaved the Hobbits and destroyed much of the Shire. Saruman then industrializes the Shire, causing major changes that many Hobbits resent
I was glad to see Christopher Lee as Saruman in the Return of the King Extended Edition. However, they should never have cut him out of the theatrical version. It still feels like blasphemy.
To be fair, the movie is almost 3.5 hours long. I love his scene, I'm glad it's on the extended edition, I understand why it was cut from the theatrical edition.
The big chill. That movie was a huge hit in 1980s about a group of people who were friends in college and now are reuniting in their 30s because one of their ex friends died and although you never actually see their deceased friends face, there was a filmed flashback sequence in which the character was played by Kevin Costner.
First movie I thought of when I saw this video's title. The fact that Lawrence Kasden gave Costner the role of Jake in 'Silverado' as an apology for cutting him out of 'The Big Chill,' makes for a great story.
I think the difference is that Costner was not a big star (or even a little star) at the time of The Big Chill. Everyone on this video was already very well established when their roles were cut.
Obviously any discussion on this topic will suffer from recency bias. For several decades the most famous example of this was Kevin Costner being cut from Lawrence Kasdan's "The Big Chill". He played the character whose funeral was the impetus for the friends gathering (in flashbacks of course). The Big Chill ended up being a huge film and to make it up to him Kasdan cast Costner in a flashy role in his next film: Silverado. Costner's performance in Silverado was essentially what made him a star.
@@jamespope7669 no she was going to be a big part of the movie you can even find some behind the scenes footage of her and it shows that her character was going to be a big part
Do you count actors who took their names off of movies? I know with Wizards (might have been another movie), the narrator chose to use another name for her performance since she didn't think the movie would do well and didn't want to be known for doing a cartoon.
Bridesmaids "managable 2 hours"... lol, man its a comedy. I cant stand how long Paul Feigs movies are... they are all over stuffed and looooong. JUST LEAVE PAUL RUDD IN, lol
3 Members of N’Sync filmed a scene for Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones. They were Jedi/had to learn how to wield a lightsaber for the battle in the arena. Their inclusion was cut. See Hot Ones N’Sync interview
Yesterday was an incredible movie. I have it on DVD and the Special Features contains the deleted scene with Ana de Armas. I completely disagree that it would have drawn focus away from the love story between Jack and his long time paramour, Ellie. It was a great scene and I believe it should have been left in the movie. When I first saw that cut scene, I didn't even know who de Armas was! All I knew was James Corden put Jack on the spot and told him to make up a song on the spot and suggested that it be about de Armas' character, who was sitting on the couch next to him. Corden says, "Make up a song about something," and Jack obliged, playing the George Harrison classic, pretending to be inventing it in the spur of the moment. It was fun to watch as the audience is blown away by Jack's "talent," all the while knowing that he was just playing Beatles tunes and taking credit for them. Great movie, and that scene should have been left in!!!
I don’t know if this exactly counts since he’s still in the movie; Jeremy Brett in My Fair Lady. His vocals for the song, On The Street Where You Live was dubbed over. The director had decided that Brett’s vocals were too mature sounding for his character (whatever the hell that means). Brett was incredibly upset about it.
Andrew Robinson played a CIA agent in cahoots with crooked military officer played by Michael Ironside in Extreme Prejudice. However, Walter Hill cut all his scenes as it seemed to take the focus away too much from Nick Nolte's Texas Ranger lead.
Michael McKean, Troy Evans, Susan Kellerman, Gary Riley and Richard Herd were supposed to have bigger roles in Planes, Trains and Automobiles but a lot was cut. Kellerman is the waitress who is seen briefly when John Candy and Steve Martin's characters realize they were robbed. Riley played the pizza delivery guy who robs them because he felt cheated out of a good tip. McKean is the trooper who is actually in Wisconsin telling them they overshot Chicago which explains why it takes them so long to get back to Chicago in the back of the truck. Evans played the truck driver who actually got a whole week's worth of pay because of the movie's schedule even though he briefly appears on screen. Evans had been hired but his scene wasn't filmed for 3 days meaning he got paid to rest in a motel waiting to be called to the set.
Farrah Fawcett had been cast in a subplot in the Gene Wilder comedy Funny About Love. But her role as a lover of Wilder was cut out completely. Considering the movie was slammed by critics, many said it was a good thing for Fawcett to be cut out of the movie.
I actually think the book ending for Saruman is better, he actually takes over the Shire and is eventually killed by Samwise of all people. However his death curses the land on which he dies, which is literally the stoop of Bag End.
Tracey Ullman had her role in Death Becomes Her cut as she was supposed to help Bruce Willis' character escape. But test audiences hated the original ending and a funnier one was filmed where Goldie and Meryl's body fall apart literally.
I would say it is one thing to have your scene cut out off the film on other is to film your scene and the find out that they have replace you because you are to famous and here is the actor that replaced you and he says those lines you did.
Anchorman 2 was better than the first movie. A much bigger hit and funnier in my opinion. Both subjectively and objectively I have to argue with you on that one.
LOTR ROTK, you're leaving out an obvious answer to the whole reason of cutting Saruman short--marketing and sales my man, marketing and sales--what better upsell than an extended DVD release explaining/showing Saruman's final moments--sales dude, it's all about the $$$...yeah yeah someone indeed suffered, but storyline, it wasn't required for a theatrical release, fast, action packed, and the lotr Tolkien nerds got something great out of it=more of their time & $$$ spent, on a cash grab!--hehehe ;p suckers, btw that was me too...:( worth it tho as any LOTR FanBoy will tell you, in extended ;p detailsssssss--as tho you're hearing an audio book retelling--hehehe still, LOTR great trilogy, and very much worth it!
Ana DeArmis was just in too many films, total over exposure and made me ill she was cast to play the iconic American blond bombshell Marilyn Monroe so think her karma caught up to her finally
