I used your video relating to Trickers and their Financial situation and an Accountant friend did an Excel Spreadsheet and I used it with some University students. The students found it very worthwhile.

Great video. Friends who served in the US Navy tell me they used toothpaste and brush on their white caps (sailor hats) to keep them white. You have turned me into a shoe enthusiast also. I have acquired three pairs of shoes and two pairs of boots on eBay at a fraction of their retail cost. I have started using Saphir products, and all my shoes now have a mirror shine. And I too get compliments. Thanks!

Great ideas. I loved the one about changing the laces. I use an electric toothbrush but my wife uses a normal toothbrush. She wasn't too happy about it tasting of vinegar this evening though.

As always great tips, Ash. With suede I tend to creep up on the stains. I start with a firm toothbrush and then go to a suede brush. If that doesn’t work I’ll go full brass brush on it. Also with smelly shoes I’ve used Philips Senseo coffee pads before. They also work very well.

Just a note on blisters, cotton fibres swell and become abrasive with moisture, I believe some research suggested a polyester blend sock is less likely to cause a blister despite the idea being abhorrent.

Stick with wool socks. Good wool socks ventilate naturally, don't absorb moisture and last long. In the north, because of the moisture holding of cotton there is an old saying..cotton kills.

With white bucks, you can also finish up by using a chalk bag. It is a powered bag that you tap onto the shoe to hopefully keep it white. They are made for this.

Thanks for all the advice. I wasn't aware of the patent leather care - I have been brushing them with wax polish. Likewíse the white salt stains and have wondered why they did not vanish entirely. I also have one pair of shoes with a funny kind of smell and I have tried putting coffee powder in them, but to no avail. I will try out putting them in the freezer tonight! The video actually combines all the advice given in 10 ordinary videos! Thanks!

Hi Ash, after cleaning my suede shoes in the manner you have described, i usually rejuvenate the materiel by using steam from a hot kettle. As well as bringing the suede back to life, it also leaves white marks on the leather sole and heel block edges, but these are easily removed with a slither of finger applied polish and a brush up! Its like a dry clean for your suede shoes!! Great trick.

I am pretty sure this will not actually work, this is a common practice based on a Placebo. The cold will not kill bacteria, it will only freeze it (put it to sleep), but eventually the smell will come back again. This is a common thing people do with jeans.. and It doesnt work either. To clean dirt, you just have to wash it/ use a special cleaner. Just freezing the item will never cut it. For the smelly shoes, I strongly belive that the cleaners that you can buy in shoe shops will be hands down the best option (easiest). Take care mr. Chap and thank you very much for the videos!

Great hacks. Why rely on company products which cost so much yet could be harmful in the long run. I don't get many vocal compliments about my shoes but expressions show they are being noticed.

Dust boxes from Ikea, cheap and fold flat when not in use.

Hi Ash, a great video and sound advise as usual. Can you recommend a quality manufacturer of shoe and boot laces. Unfortunately mine often fray or snap when least expected.
@TheChapsGuide

I usually go back to the manufacturer and buy another pair of the original laces - it may be more expensive, but you guarantee a good result.

Cool. Thanks!! Any tip to break in to your new shoes if it is hurting your feet? Applying face cream on the inside of the shoe helps?
@TheChapsGuide
@TheChapsGuide 2 года назад
Break then in gradually, start with gentle wearing around the home and then progress to short walks and extend to longer strolls. If your shoes are the correct size, this should swiftly allow them to conform to your feet. If this does not help, perhaps you have the incorrect size.

When I see someone wearing nice clothes or a stylish coat and they are wearing old worn shoes there is nothing that can make up for that. It’s the foundation of your entire look.

After watching hour channel, I've made my mind up and purchased a couple of pairs of good leather shoes. Clarke's and Loake. One is a wingtip brogue and the other is a slip on for informal use. I got them on a sale. They've not been used but they were last year's stock. The shopkeeper is an old man who told me a little bit of my beard cream would bring them back to life and then I can apply cream polish. Ash, would beard cream work? Is the old man right?
@TheChapsGuide
@TheChapsGuide 3 месяца назад
Why beard cream though? When there are such products as Saphir Pommadier Cream. I would stick to the known facts and go with a product designed for the purpose that you seek.
@littlepuppy101
@littlepuppy101 3 месяца назад
@@TheChapsGuide I asked him that. He said Saphir is expensive and I can get the same result with my beard cream. I am confused now. I don't think Saphir is very expensive.

There is another way to stretch your too tight shoes and that is to take them to a cobblers and have them done for you. This will cost you of course but not nearly as much as buying a pair of stretchers.
