11. Prepare your outfit for tomorrow before you go to bed. Iron that shirt. Not only do you avoid a stressful situation if that item isn't clean as you expected. You also foster a habit of preparing and planning.
I’ve been watching your channel for quite a while now and I can honestly say I’m a better person for it. Thanks for all the insights and keeping us “over 40” dudes in the game!
It's not sure if you covered this or not but a good night's sleep is definitely one of the top 10! And I just don't mean getting enough hours I mean comfortable sleep. A lot of people, to definitely include myself don't get a restful night's sleep it's full night sleep because of a number of reasons. Maybe you need a new pillow? bed? Sheets? Change your entire pre-sleep pattern? My achilles heel was my sinuses and allergies. After a long time I finally convinced myself to go see a doctor about my sinus issues. Looks like I had a deviated septum for quite a while. Also my allergies seem to be at an all time high the older I get. Well looks like I'm more allergic now to things that I've never been allergic to before and I needed to have surgery to fix my deviated septum. As a matter of fact I had to have it twice. I guess roto rootering my nose one time wasn't enough! Needed a tune up! I know People may not have the means to address everything. But, something I tell all my friends - if your body starts talking to you you need to listen! I didn't realize how bad my sinuses/allergies were until my wife brought it up.
Im a new sub. And id like a video of basic wardrobe but with a minimalist phylosophy that is my case. Im 44 and im a clinical psychology. Many thanks. Greetings from México.
It seems like guys who want to be "attractive" end up behaving a lot like little girls. They are the ones often primping to try and get people to look at them. My view, fellas, is just be a man. Find out what it means to be a man and spend time around good women. Yes, grooming, manners, clothing are important but don't overdo it, and don't go out of your way to be flashy or "hot." Nothing wrong with being "average." Remember, average girls make good girlfriends, wives, and mothers, and usually have nice looking kids, and tend to be loyal. Besides, sustaining a marriage has little to do with appearances and related superficialities. PUAs and dating coaches help to emasculate guys. I’ve seen such influencers who were prettier than the girls they were trying to pickup -- wearing earrings, jewelry, wavy and highlighted hairdos, and makeup. Yet, many of them dislike the “feminist agenda,” even though the dudes end up behaving like the women of old who aren’t feminists. A real man isn't hell-bent on attracting women. Rather he's striving to survive and prosper, and women are drawn to him because of these basic drives - nothing fancy.
Really enjoy your channel for some time! Tried the FACTOR products- too high in Sodium. From a medical perspective- I don't need it! But they are very tasty!
I recorded these questions in my commonplace book and refer back to them if I need an attitude adjustment. Sharing in case it might help others. • Would I rather feel fear or happiness? • Would I rather feel confusion or clarity? • Would I rather love that person or hate that person? • Would I rather feel disappointment or satisfaction? • Would I rather have fun or be miserable? • Would I rather feel happy or sad? • Would I rather feel angry or calm? • Would I rather feel stressed or relaxed? • Would I rather feel depressed or cheerful? • Would I rather feel unworthy or deserving? • Would I rather feel overwhelmed or relaxed? • Would I rather feel misery or joy? #legend
Excellent presentation, I have watched this twice it's a good heads up to get it together. A lot of us become so self absorbed and do not think about how we are perceived. Then suddenly find oneself single. I'm a widower after 33 years of marriage. Tough spot and the world has changed so much since 1986. Keep up the good work.
My top 5 from your list that I look for in a man are: 1, exercise routine 2, eating healthy 3, clean spaces 4, positive mental attitude and 5, have something they are interested in, a project.
Superb video, as for the glass half empty or half full - it could also be twice as big as it needs to be 🤓 This video made me suscribe, being 42, it is refreshing to see information aimed at my demographic. Thank you muchly!
Thanks again John and this is why I love your channel. Every day I’m learning that I sub consciously do some of the things you advise and that just maybe I’m a better person than I thought. Together with your other great insights and advice, I’m feeling good about myself that I never have before. Much appreciation.
Your still alive... When cooking, don't forget to let the food rest for a few minutes before your cut into it and eat. Scalding hot may seem good, but wait 3 minutes and you will be surprised.
Great list! I would add a clean car. I try to keep my car clean and when a woman gets into my car and immediately exclaims how clean it is, well that’s a pretty good start to the evening!
Now wait, you're Italian and cooking is not your strong suit? How can that be? For the young guys out there, learn to cook. It tops the list of habits that make you hotter.
I’m about to turn 40 in June! Man I feel like time flew. I believe I started working on some of these suggestions in my early 30’s thank you for the reminder that it’s a lifetime commitment to myself. Need more suggestions very much enjoying your channel!
I think that facial ages a mans face by a decade. We realize that a lot of men grow it to cover up their triple chins or sagging chins. Facial exercises and diet will make a difference. For optimum health and fitness, diet is 85%. If people are still consuming sugar/carbs, it is a good time to stop.
Lot's of great advice here. Making the bed every morning is a great one that I've always done. There are many articles and videos out there about something as simple as making the bed. Learning to cook has been one of the things for me - when you can put together a meal for someone, they look at you in a whole different way.
Can you do a video on how to take care of shoes, specially sneakers. How to prevent or get rid off smelling shoes 👟. Thank you for your time and effort
@Harold . I use shoe trees and also I found a product called Jason Markk . I have used it on white sneakers and on my other sneakers with great success. Also have a rag to wipe the dirt off around the soles after a rainy day is s good thing
I am a real fan of this channel and a loyal subscriber. Can’t even begin to describe how many great things I could describe about the owner and content. 😊 I am 58 and have been going to a specific dermatologist for 20% TCA peels every 2 months for the past 5 years. Skin care products are very important. But what basically supercharged my perfect complexion was facial peels….with products to maintain myself in between the peels. My dermatologist said that nothing can replace or replicate….changing the skin on your face….with brand new skin. Kind of like compounding the paint on your car and then the waxing it to maintain the finish. Now compare that to giving your car a brand new paint job. Get the point? Peels also stimulate the collagen and elastin under the skin which support the upper skin layers to diminish wrinkles. John you have a great channel. Keep up the great work💪.
A very formidable list of habits, all very easy to follow, and each one can elevate our inner spirit to feel well, look well, and to maintain/become motivated in our lives. I do find an exception to the point of wearing a daily fragrance. I tend to genuinely keep myself physically clean which can basically ensure that my body odor doesn't become offensive. I choose an unscented deodorant for most social/business situations. This choice of reserving an unscented nature about myself is something I do to respect that many businesses, especially medical, have restrictions on wearing fragrances due to the hypersensitive reactions/allergies that many folks experience when exposed to a wide variety of scents due to their atomic chemical releases into the air. Having a particular aroma emanating from my body is something I can choose to do when the situations are more intimate and less public, and then such fragrances can be more appreciated. ...Thank you for your advice and encouragement for all men to try and be the best they can be.
John, I love your channel, and you provide lots of good advice. I agree with almost everything you suggest in this video. One thing though...and this will be my first criticism of any of your videos...but for someone who made one or two videos about table manners, remember to consistently chew with your mouth closed. :-) Perhaps it was just for added effect to make it look like you were really enjoying the Factor meals you recommended, but the noises and chewing left something to be desired in the manners department. :-) I'll let you slide on the talking with your mouth full during that promo since I know it was a "promo". :-) Thanks for all your videos. My best to you!
Personally, when I de-clutter the room I can't find anything which leads to stress, especially when deadlines are involved. It's a mess, but I know exactly where everything is.
You forgot about dental care. The number 1 Babe Repellant is bad teeth. If you lacked in dental care or you simply had bad genetics. A trip to the Dentist can do wonders. Everything from a basic whitening, to veneers, even implant dentistry. Trust me bad teeth is scarier than an unmade bed.
Nah. I live in very humid Singapore. I use only soap, for my hair, my face, my body. And no, at 41, I do not have any wrinkle on my face. It's in both the genes and climate of Asians and Asia.
I agree each one of us must take a look at our attitude. I have checked my attitude and found that my attitude was negative. I realized I needed help to become much more positive. I downloaded a self hypnosis track recorded by Steve G.Jones. I listen to the track each night before falling asleep. Man, my attitude began to change within the first two or three nights. I listened for 30 days and then whenever I notice that my attitude starting to slip back negative again, I listen again for a few nights.
Clean spaces are cool, I don't like clutter. My caligraphy has always looked bad so I have been trying to better it. Cycling is my thing, weekly I try to do 150kms at least; and I feel so good. John thanks for another great video.
thanks so much, John. Another very informative video, especially after seeing that I already use many of your suggestions. it is always get this kind of validation especially centering around: *good grooming and just taking pride in your appearance *making your bed every morning -- can't really start my day without doing so, even as a retiree lol!! *being as positive and pleasant as possible and giving your full attention thanks again
Hey John. Another really good video. I agree with each of your points. And I’m proud to say I follow all of them pretty consistently. Of course, my problem is I’ve got about 15 or so not-so-good habits to cancel the good ones out - lol
Such a great video!! Truth bomb-a negative persons attractiveness plummets with every critical statement they make. I’m sending this to quite a few of my male friends who don’t understand “negging” and think they have to pick on their dates and then wonder, why they have no dates! Bravo! Great stuff!
Wow! You really nailed this one. Fantastic list. I’m happy to say I do everyone of the things on the list except wearing a fragrance every day. I do wear one if we are going out, but never considered doing it daily.
We need an entire video on fragrances. Subtle vs prominent. Outdoor vs indoor. Daytime vs evening. And what deodorant to use with a fragrance so they don’t clash. Any help on this subject would be appreciated.
@@40OverFashion and many men who don't know winter vs summer fragrances. I am always giving a tutorial on this. And if you go to fragrance counter, don't try everything, know which underlying scents work for you or that you prefer. For me, vanilla and cinnamon essences are a must in fragrances. I avoid musk or oud.
Just put in my first Factor order. Note: I tried Hello Fresh several months ago. Good meals, but the dishes can get tricky if you’ve never worked with an ingredient. I would be considered a good short-order cook. 😁
I have read the negative comments about “infomercial” and “product placement,” and I disagree with the sentiment behind them. I enjoy and welcome information about new products and I recognize that Jon pours all of his time and energy into this channel and is entitled to some compensation for it through sponsored videos. So, unless you are paying Jon directly for the benefits you are getting from his channel, don’t complain about sponsored content.
Nothing is more attractive to a woman than cooking her a nice meal. Learn to cook, guys, at least some basics. You don't have to be a professional chef, even just simple meals using fresh ingredients looks like million bucks to her.
I always found that knowing how to cook gave me a certain collectability - which was just as well because as they say I have a face for radio. Mind you, this was at a time when guys either didn't do it, or made a complete dog's breakfast of it. Pun not intended.
Buying pre-made meals from a food service makes you hotter? Hmm, I've always found that women appreciate a man who knows his way around the kitchen. They assume that skill transfers to the bedroom, and who am I to argue? And gents, if you're looking for a great fragrance check out Eau Fraiche from Versace.
Great advice again thanks John! Intersting though how it could be argued that much of this might apply to certain types of men, wanting to attract certain types of women. I think I may have made this point before, but a lot of the guys in my area are tradies (tradesmen), and for the life of me I definitley couldn't see them doing half of these things you suggest! Skin care treatment? I'd doubt it! If they did they wouldn't dare tell their workmates! Scruffy, plumber's crack, the inside of their truck looking like a bomb went off.... But here's the thing: nine times out of ten you'll see them with a smoking hot, glamorous, well-groomed woman on their arm! Look, in your circles I have no doubt that what you suggest really does work, but around here.....nah. Maybe I should move to Southern California :) ?
Hi John. I had a lady friend tell me once that she was impressed by the fact that I kept the lid down on the toilet. She said that she had been to other guys's places and they didn't even keep the seat down so I got some points there. I didn't tell her however that the biggest reason I kept the lid down was because the toilet is next to the sink and I didn't want anything falling in it. Peace. : )
While you don't present yourself as a funny guy, every now and again your sense of humor sneaks into your videos and totally cracks me up. Today, it was the phrase "...more attractive than the next guy, who smells like a shoe!" 😆
This is excellent, not only addresses making you hotter, but at the same time making for a healthy way to live and think. I take some leeway for myself with not making my bed. I learned years back that I like it to air-out during the day. No one ever sees my bedroom, and living in a big home, I won't see my bedroom again until after dark. When I do have guests, I make sure that my home looks good, and that the lavatories are spotless. Your opinion on negativity is extremely important, even something as mild as a guy that makes constant wisecracks is creating a build-up of negativity for guests.
Thanks again John! All excellent advice and greatly appreciated. I'm 65 and yes, often have daily challenges as we all do. Keeping positive is certainly one I work on. I like the taking care of your skin routine. Genetics are on my side, but still do practice a routine and look a bit better for my age. Again, awesome content and I appreciate your video's! ,🙌
My Man 👞♂️, like I told once got bit bulk, so now I'm starting to loose some weight and get more lean and it's working, running 2 miles and sprinting running 🎽 help burn fat, pluses lots of reps in my weight lifting which help a lot.keeo bringing good stuff bro..
I'm not sure how you arrived at the metric, "....exact opposite....". Putting that aside for a minute, it seems to me the point was, meal prep, eating healthy, and convenience for busy singles or couples.
I don't know if this strange but, I use a cologne every day, I even basically freshen up before bed, teeth, hair and a splash of cologne, even when I'm sleeping alone/ single, I seam to relax and feel better when I'm going to turn in
I enjoy your content but I have to respectfully disagree concerning fragrances. To me, cologne on a man screams, “ Hey ladies, here I am!” To each his own though.
