I've been surrounded by toxic, negative and self entitled people my entire life. They go out of their way and take every opportunity to belittle, pick on and humiliate me. It has completely destroyed my self-esteem and self confidence to the point where I have completely shut down and isolated myself from everything and everyone. About a month ago, I became very angry and determined not to take it anymore. I am doing things that I never would have done before because the fear in me was so great that I just assumed I was too stupid and pathetic to do anything for myself. To my surprise I have discovered that I definitely CAN do all the things I should have been doing all along. My confidence has increased immensely and I realized that I'm not as incompetent as I was led to believe. I have eliminated the people who took years and years to keep me down. I have a long way to go but I feel better and better with each passing day and my solution was not alcohol or drugs to do it. I just got angry and fed up. Now I'm on a personal mission to better myself and my life.

Great list. I have another one: showing little or no compassion at all for yourself and your mistakes. It's funny how some of us can be very compassionate for others but not for ourselves. This happens a lot because sometimes we have the wrong idea that your are weak for showing compassion for you but you are a good person for showing compassion for others and you can live years thinking that's anything wrong with your behavior. This is one of the reasons why I kind of hit bottom with depression in the last years but now I'm feeling better and progressing to improve my mental health

I 100% agree about the fact that comparing yourself to others is normal and yes, a lot of people, almost everyone (I feel) does it. But I believe that no matter what, we should NEVER give up or lose hope. I used to think that life was so easy for those who are dating or happily married while some of us are struggling with love or along with the following that’s mentioned, that life was so easy for those people, but then someone told me that’s not true at all and said, “You never know what could be going on in those people’s lives behind their smiles.” And I’ve been many times they just don’t want to disclose or share it with anyone.

Not all of us have had the privilege of having those around us give positive feedback to thrive when it comes to the confidence. I can tell you one hundred percent that I can depend on no one around me to compliment me ever so any confidence is squeezed out of what I see in myself and that doesn't go very far. In order to surround yourself by more positive people you have to go out and socialize and in order to go out and socialize you've got to feel a little bit okay about yourself to get up and do something with yourself and get out of the house. That's a whole nother problem in itself. Way too easy to get stuck in this roller coaster of thinking and much harder to pull yourself out of it because at the end of the day it doesn't matter how you got that way you have to fix it all by yourself. And all I can say is I'm working on it.

@nickp3949
@nickp3949 2 года назад
I know what you’re saying, but in the end it does more harm than good. It’s a rumination cycle. It’s a way to cope with the negative feelings associated with the situation instead of properly dealing with them. And thinking about negative things like that objectively lowers your vibration and puts you in a worse head space. The “feeling good” part is an illusion.
@KingSheva-sh5qw
@KingSheva-sh5qw 2 года назад
@@nickp3949 it’s a basic form of mediation and self improvement…, it’s also not toxic as you say as you also seek out subconsciously similar situations to prove to yourself you’ve improved improving your self worth. Internal emotional pain is a sign your changing mentally avoiding pain is avoiding growth🤷‍♂️ 1 minute of bad vibes for a lifetime of never making that mistake idk about you but I’ll take that trade any day of the week.

In the video mentioning about, leaving your decisions to others. I always believe that the decision which my elders take for me was good, until I fell down by those decisions in my life, I didn't consider my own thoughts. The point is now I trying listening to my inner self , talking with my inner self what I want not what others impose on me. Believe me I feel confident, positive and more relax. Just start today and you will isolate for few months but believe me you will enjoy after listening to your inner self and priority.

Never say your sorry unless you have personally wronged somebody. Especially too a woman. They see it as weakness. Heck I try to avoid saying sorry to my guy friends. There’s way that you can say sorry without actually saying those words. Examples like “I was really busy and got sidetracked with my schedule. It must have slipped my mind. I’ll do my best to not let it happen again” is perfect.

Hi there Brainy Dose I think self assurance and self confidence are the best buds and one cannot exist without the other in my blessed opinion - spotlight syndrome is a thing I see a lot of women and men suffer from lately and I blame this rise of this affliction on Instagram - the more selfies someone takes the more they start to loath how they really look without the filters and whatnot ! Liking loving and accepting oneself flaws and all is so important for ones happiness as well as ones confidence - I do none of these aforementioned things you speak of and my self assurance/confidence is through the roof and it always has been because I fully love like and accept all of myself inside and out - I can only be the me I’m supposed to be and for this I shall make no apology because I can’t be anyone else you see ! Thank you BD for this enlightening video - it was quite informative and helpful Ttfn;D

This could help possibly, but if u consciously focus on not doing these things while socializing you’ll likely be even less genuine and fluid when communicating. It’d be much healthier / more effective to focus on a humbly open and self accepting mindset rather a mindset actively manipulating / restricting certain ways a conversation might flow

Hi everyone. I have just watched the video and I have to say I agree with all the tips, except the number one: "take care of your appearance". There are more important things to change, for example: your own thoughts, emotions and intentions you have with other people. Appearance doesn't agree with me. Don´t judge a book by its cover. There are some people who are very good outside but inside are very bad. The actions speak louder than words, but also speak louder than the appearance. My congratulations on your you tube channel. Years ago, I was listening to an arch-heretic "faith" preacher who condemned what I call "downing yourself." His spiritual aspect of that teaching was way off, but the psychological value was true. It bothers me when people say things like, "I'm so stupid", and it hinders their growth. I've sarcastically said to myself when I did something stupid, "THAT was brilliant", which doesn't detract from my personhood. People can admit to a failing without destroying themselves.

I'm 30 years old now, but I've struggled with self-confidence since I was 15 years old. I'm just now beginning to realize how strong I am, and that I can overcome my low self-esteem. I went to school with so many mean girls, (and boys)... and I was always bullied and tormented. Throughout my life it was a traumatic experience, therefore it affected my abilities to socialize and feel good about myself. I'm doing better now, however I still have my days. Anxiety comes and goes, we're only human. I put my best foot forward to try to become the best version of myself. Anxiety has affected my work life as well as my personal life. Every day I am working on bettering myself and paying close attention to my surroundings and consistently being self-aware. My ultimate goal is to break free of all of the negativity and pessimistic people. With enough faith and love, I know I can break free, and so can you. 🥲❤

For me, the first two points contradict. People can not neglect their appearance and at the same time, neglect their minor flaws ??? Neglecting/Ignoring your minor flaws also means ignoring yourself. Also, if you can neglect your appearance, then you are more capable to neglect your minor flaws. I believe Confidence does not only depend on you alone. It depends both on yourself and the kind of society or community in which you belong. Therefore, your confidence can not be built by you alone. It requires contributions from others for in order for it to be impactful. And also, you can not be confident in all aspects in life

Currently, I'm an adult, I realised that others just care about how you can express your abilities and your achievements.

The narrator’s voice…reminds me of Ray William Johnson. I love Brainy Dose - always educational, thanks for making these videos.

I come from a smaller town , and out of a lot of folks there I would admit there was something special about me that they didn’t have . I realize how they tore me down family and friends because they saw something that I just didn’t and now I realize them tearing me down was out of jealousy. Some ppl are affected by it some or not , unfortunately I was AFFECTED big time ! Like Ppl see me and wouldn’t believe how low I feel about myself but I do. Sadly to say they won , there goal was to destroy what they seen in front of them and they won for now atleast .

Those are ppl who can nvr be friends they likeli act like angels at first n get to know you once they find your abilities talents slowly jealousy builds in them as they only are poseurs actors but no Talent ,lets say you can play guitar or good at IT ,etc but they realize they are shortfall n you can earn more than them, yeah ,likely I got it to from a workplace colleague that seems to ask me about music til showed him my guitar skills ,Im senior support in a school for IT 10 over yrs ,til he came I duno what happen,let my guard down ,you can't tell ppl 90% of the time all about you ,even if you friendly as secretly they could be jealous , so hope they get Karma my friend , I take a break from work in a month or 2 ,I shall re-hunt work , stay strong & vigilant too

The best way to deal with negative, jealous people is to avoid them. If you meet them in street, give a big smile and rush on by. Surround yourself with sincere, loyal friends. You should be flattered that the others are jealous! Hooray! You are better than them.💚💙💜🙏🙏🙏

I think the most notorious self-destroying habit is comparing some to others. This comes from the family itself in which the youngest siblings are compared to the eldest. Remarks like " Your brother is such a great athlete; why are you not like him?, or "Look how such a good student your sister is; you should be like her" as well as "Your brother is so smart that he could be the next Einstein; if you just were like him; I would be very proud of you", are set in our minds from an early age. Some parents don't encourage their kids' natural talents, but try to impose skills that every society demands. In order to make the difference we should lift children's natural abilities, for they can work them out. Life and the world itself are constantly changing, so is the Intelligence concept. Read Howard Gardner and his 7 intelligence types.

Wonderful insights in each and every of those 10 points. I have come up from the lowest ebb of self-confidence because of many of these bad habits. It has taken me several years of struggle with myself and with the emotions that trigger these habits to really know that these habits really affect your self-confidence. Whatever the cause of low self-confidence, it shows up in these habits. So if you have these habits, take charge of your thoughts, feelings and behavior and over time you will deactivate these habits to prevent their influence on your achievements and happiness. Best Wishes :)
