Lived in NC (Pinehurst) for 7 years. Moved to HHI SC 3.5 years ago to help aging parents with COVID. Condo and beach resort living not for us, bought and sold condo, made 70% net profit in 3 years, looking to move back to northern NC with $550K-$600K cash to buy single family home. SC is nice…we just want more of a 4 season life. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Man, I just found your channel. I’ve always vacationed around Myrtle, Surfside, Cherry Grove, Windy Hills, etc. for many years. Actually have a couple email subs to a few real estate agencies and look all the time. I always have to watch the HOA costs in my opinion, some are getting crazy for what you get. Thinking of a purchase soon as I near retirement. Torn between Surfside area and North Myrtle area. Anyway, you provide a lot of knowledge on your channel. Just subbed. Keep up the good work!

We moved to Myrtle Beach last year. Love living on the beach. We live in a campground in a modular home. It was never on our radar, but living somewhat minimalist in 700 square feet was the best decision we made! Lots of other retirees in our complex and a much healthier lifestyle! And the financial benefits you listed are an added bonus!

Great video! You hit on some very good metrics. I've lived in California almost my whole life, but didn't drink the Kool-aid. I will have to check out your area, and Little River maybe (on the edge of the busyness?). We have been looking at Greenville area. The problem is that taxes are 2X's as much if you do not live there full-time. We were quoted 8K in the Summerville area. (Looking in both areas). May reach out to get your prospective on this. Good video helpful tips.

Jerry, if you are retired military SC does not tax a significant portion of your retired pay and the amount exempt is increasing every year

Hi Jerry: I found your 'warning' video about not moving to Florida; things really changed! I live in NE PA near the Poconos but have been a Floridian. (The last place I lived there was Ft Myers, which is now a leveled island). Prior to that, I was on the East side (Boca, Delray....). I'm now retired and eager to move out of PA. I was eager to move back to Florida but considered based on your video being the most recent out of most. I can't do snow or cold anymore here. (One native told me there are really only two seasons in the NE: Cold and Pothole. 😅😅) At the moment, I am looking to rent (for about a year). I think SC is an option; I just need to find affordable rent areas that have a modest population level and not so noisy. I'm not sure what hat you wear, since you talk about Real Estate in different states. I'm no realtor but a friend told me that some states allow a sort of transmigration of a Realtor license? (Can be in a few states at once?) Appreciate any video links you can share relative to what I discussed. Thanks! Phil

Great video…My wife and I would enjoy looking at some condo or townhome set up somewhere in a safe old city….. Myrtle Beach are a fit that ? Maybe in some retirement community…I will turn 70 YOA and my wife will retire in 1 1/2 years at 65 YOA. I collect a pension , some SS and my wife will collect SS. We are considering living in our home in Minnesota during the Summer and somewhere else, warm in the Winter plus…(6 mo and a day ++)Minnesota taxes are a killer….We will have to call or set up something one day

I am watching this video in July of 2024. Do these statistics still apply? SC is my top choice for retiring and moving in the next 3-6 months. I am torn between the beaches of the greater Myrtle Beach region and the lakes and mountains near Greenville. Between these 2 regions which would be a better choice for someone single and retiring? That is true! But the cost of living in Washington is 15% higher than the national average. Housing is 24% higher than the national average, while utilities are 10% lower. When it comes to basic necessities such as food and clothing, groceries are around 14% higher than in the rest of the country, while clothing costs 14% higher. Thanks for watching and commenting

@@JerryPinkas Tell them the truth--it is a very red state. I have family there who are not Republicans, and it is okay. Just don't talk politics with someone if you don't know them well or you know they don't believe what you believe. Many people are moving there from up north, which will create more diversity.
