This is so great, as a rheumatoid arthritis patient and occupational therapist I appreciate these insights! Another thing to think about is how debilitating fatigue can be while living with this condition, and many research studies are showing now that cardiovascular exercise is actually associated with decreased fatigue, which is pretty awesome (and unintuitive for most patients)!

Thank you so much for this video~ I am 64 years old retired neonatal nurse who used to do moderate hiking in the mountains, cross country skiing, and had always been very active. 5 years ago I developed osteo and rheumatoid arthritis in many places in my body~ right fingers ( I cannot close my hand any longer) , left shoulder~ scapula and neck ( must have been from all the heavy lifting I did with post op patient's, left hip pain and stiff, cervical spine, and left foot stage 4 damage on the great toe area~ so painful . I had to retire early 1 1/2 years ago and I couldn't move much and I gained 40 lbs :( . This disease has really slowed me down and is very painful. I've been searching for exercises I can do help myself and become more active. I came across this video and hope that these exercises will help. I watch many of your videos and am on your fb page. Thank you so very much for all your teaching~ Patty from the Pacific NW.

I was just diagnosed with adv stage RA on Tuesday. At this point I’ve have 3 attacks on 30 days. Watching your video believe it or not it’s so painful for me as my hands are useless at the moment. I just am finishing a course of methyl prednisone loan and will be seeing a specialist shortly. I hope to progress to be able to do these exercises and I’m not getting much information on nutrition from the doctors. also people have no idea and think this is regular arthritis. I am in the bed with this flare up and I’ve never had such pain and discomfort. These attacks of felt like somebody poured lighter fluid on my hand and let it on fire. I am 58 so I believe I’ve had this for sometime as I’ve had both cervical spine and lumbar fusions as well as three rotator cuff surgeries. There definitely needs to be an education campaign out there for this as people have no idea. It is a disease but last a lifetime.

Kimberly Faye Thompson Hi Kimberly, I’m 59 and was diagnosed with RA three years ago. I’m doing pretty well - my first three months were very painful. My rheumatism doctor didn’t mention anything to me about changing my diet in the beginning, but I have found that staying away from gluten has helped me tremendously! Don’t know if it works for everyone, but worth checking it out. And some people suggest staying away from nightshade vegetables like tomatoes, peppers and eggplant, but they don’t seem to cause me a problem. Gluten, sugar, humidity and changes in barometric pressure are my main triggers. It’s great to connect with others with RA to get ideas - I’m in a private local RA facebook group, and have gone to physical support groups, too. The Arthritis Foundation also has some good tips. And I’m always looking for new exercises, which is why I stumbled on this video today. Best wishes to you!
@Lobos222
@Lobos222 4 года назад
+Kimberly. I cant comment on your age in regards to other age related issues, but there are treatments out there now for RA that are very effective. Joins can also be drained, which will shorten symptoms until the medicine can take effect. Its not recommended to use Prednisone or similar long term because your body produces some Cortisone (whats in the medicine) naturally and using such for too long might make the body shut down its own production. However this might be a bigger concern for much younger people. That said, there are other medicines out there one should consider first called DMARDs. These can better be used long term and have several options. Note that one should start aggressively with the medicine, unlike most other treatments, which higher does first and eventually lowering them IF that produces a decent result. Unless there are other serious issues standing in the way, you mentioned 3x heart attacks?,... You have a high chance of returning to normal, but training, including weigh lifting, will become mandatory. TBH if the medicine works well on you and after a few months of training (which needs to continue) you might ironically end up in better shape than you have been in a LONG time! Dont give up :)

The fatigue though. I still have to go to Neurologist but pretty sure it's RA. Waiting is the hard part because IB, Tylenol and CBD oil aren't cutting it. By almost supper time I'm actually able to do some things. I keep pushing on though, even if it's a bit at a time. My hands are useless too and I've been typing since I was 13 and am now 71. Wearing splints for the numbness. Just laid myself off of work because the morning pain is excrutiating and cannot grip the mouse or turn my head toward the monitors.. I thought herniated disc pain was bad, but this is a whole other entity.

I have RA and OA. My disease manifested in my hands. Just one morning 8 years ago my hands were blown up like two baseball mitts. Pain and stiffness beyond my comprehension. I have always been an active person to exercise everyday. My best advice is to see a rheumatologist ASAP. They work well with physical therapists. When I couldn’t walk!!! My knees got so inflamed. Gel shots saved me and physical therapy but not too much. Not to the point of pain. I’m sure you know all this. It’s a daily battle

Autumn Blues RA is so different for everyone. Cold water, cold temperatures, cold anything is terrible for me. It’s amazing to hear some people say they prefer cold water treatments when everything has to be warm for me.

Any RA patients here who lives normally without medications?
@Patty427

I am trying not to go on any meds and using a natural approach. I eat mostly vegan, and occasionally chicken breast~ no pork, to decrease inflammation. I take turmeric every day and glucosamine. I try to stay from oils in margarine and in cooking except occasionally olive oil and I do not eat processed foods. Just clean whole food mostly plant based and no oil diet programs. Inflammation for me is a trigger and If I over do an activity I will get flair ups. I take vit D, Vit B complex, and tylenol each day. During really painful days, I use a topical diclofenac gel prescription, and on really hard days I will take a piroxicam tab~ only prn. I know the arthritis may get worse, but I choose to just go natural instead of taking all the hard meds that can deplete my immune system. I hope this helps.

My friend has suffered from this problem. During this time, He could not even stand on his own. He did not think he would survive. Someone told him about #PlanetAyurveda, he went there and took treatment. He realized the improvement in a few days. Now he is fine.
