I now understand your love for Dishonored. I just finished it last night and I think its safe to say this is my favorite stealth game of all time! I just bought the next 2 games as well! Thank you Falcon!
If you by any chance run across a bug in dishonored 2 when it just crashes to your desktop without any errors set your monitor refresh frequency to 60 Hz. It tends to crash on higher frequencies than that. Kinda ruined the first half of the experience for me.
@@xavierabii548 it’s honestly worth it, although I preferred the first game. I loved exploring the levels and finding secrets, genuinely 2 of my fav games
I prefer Stealth Games cuz they introduce an Intelligence/Problem Solving aspect to just shooting endless waves of enemies who auto-know where you are @ all times
I'm okay with stealth, as long as it's an option. I don't like games that force you to play that way the entire time though. A little variety is nice. Ghost of Tsushima and AC are good examples of 'balanced games.'
Try a sniper elite game at authentic plus. That pushes your limit of thinking and being aware. You need to really think about your shots too. Be patient as well
I know Syndicate isn't liked by many AC Fans, I myself found it a bit lacking, but the stealth in Syndicate is amazing and Victorian London is just beautiful in that game.
The original Deus Ex has to be my number one. Almost every mission could be played as either stealth or guns blazing mode. And several different endings. It was ahead of its time. Hoping for a remaster one day :)
I don't think anything will beat Deus Ex (2000) for the sheer scope the game had and in depth approach it had towards missions. I'd also like to see a remaster but fear it would be ruined. Another Deus Ex game, set in the same time window, would be welcome tho.
Yeah i remember that hacking scene where we had to match that sequence in this mission, I played this game on PC so it was one of the hardest thing to do for me but I enjoyed it a lot. A great game indeed.
Dishonored 2 is my favorite game of all time, closely followed by Dishonored 1. It just does so much right, and so little wrong. On top of that, you would be hard pressed to find better gameplay or level design. Arkane is amazing.
AC Syndicate was such a great game. Solid location, time-period, story, characters, writing, atmosphere, weapons & progression system. Just wish they'd remaster it, bring the graphics up to scratch & improve the melee combat system (or just add way more combat animations).
@@woutervanr DotO is good but it's more like the Daud DLC missions than the the main games. Plus while you can be stealthy its not really the same as it is in 1 and 2
I’m so glad you credited the Thief games they were the first to add the different noises to the floors. And the water and fire arrows are just as amazing.
Props on the Commando's mention. One of my all time favorites. I have been waiting years for someone to do a remake/remaster or a new installment even.. It will probably never happen but would be cool.
@@Taijifufu what i liked the most about it compared to the main game was the more realistic approach, none of that fulton recovery or bionic arm ability stuff and i also have to agree about the polishing.
The ground zeroes is hated for the reason Konami wanted it to be sold as a separate game while kojima wanted it as a free demo like PT. Square enix even did the same thing for ffxv free platinum demo game to try. That's why ground zeroes is hated but it is a great game as dlc supposed to be like the abomination mg survive should have been a dlc instead of separate game.
All Ghilied Up from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare deserves to be on this list for taking the franchise to new heights. That stealth sniper gameplay has still not been topped, despite many attempts.
@@DexiduousRose before raging about it? Lol do you read all RU-vid comments with an angry voice in your head? I was simply pointing out my opinion. Part 1 is a year old. Excuse me for not watching it. Didn't mean to hurt any feelings lol
Sapienza was a work of art. I truly loved just walking around in it, taking in the sights. I loved going inside the virus lab, hazmat suit on, into a toxic atmosphere with creepy, low light, with a deadly virus in the room with you, then emerging into the lovely sunshine of a beautiful town by the beach. I feel I want to replay it now...
Sniper Elite series deserves some respect, especially Sniper Elite 4. While not primarily a stealth game, it has a lot of stealth elements and rewards you for being efficient, skilled, and stealthy.
Lol my fellow brothers just finishing the game again on my switch. First time I played it on my PC. Now playing it again I have a deeper appreciation for the game.
TLOU2's stealth is generally underrated. The Scar level where they hang someone in the forest and Ellie has to sneak through the carpark complex at night is a brilliant stealth level. One of the best Naughty Dog have done so far.
I really enjoyed finding and killing Aleksis in Deathloop. It was only my second visionary I chose to take out and I had just gotten the blink power and the feeling of sneaking into a party, then deducing which one was Aleksis felt great.
The Boyle State mission is the pinnacle of Dishonored for me, i wished the sequels had some missions with this kind of Social Stealth, although, Jindosh Mansion is awesome and the Stilton Manor is mindblowing.
I will never forget playing splinter cell multiplayer. When the game chat made noise in game. Buddy dangling me over a ledge to tap a payphone. Asking him to pull me up while the mark was talking on the phone. Loud whispering. Amazing.
Dishonored 2 is definitely Clockwork Mansion, but stealing Daud's pouch was the most memorable one for me in the first one. Firstly the fact that it was Michael Madsen voicing him and secondly that it was the most intense stealth. The weepers were bad enough, but Daud's whalers were on a whole new level of unpredictable. All of that combined with the very secluded claustrophobic feel of the whole level and Daud's character being built up to that point as one of the smartest and not to be underestimated targets. I don't even remember how I managed to pull it off, I just remember I kept reloading saves just to make sure that I pull off each section as perfect as I possibly could.
Splinter Cell is the best stealth series ever made imo and i'm desperate for a new one but not like conviction or blacklist i want an old school Splinter Cell it's one of the games i miss the most.
"Come on Ubisoft, why have you not given us another Splinter Cell? Like a real one! Like don't turn it into another open world. Right? Got it?" You nailed it. Give us another amazing game and do not ruin the franchise Splinter Cell.
I'm so glad you mentioned Shadow Tactics after talking about Commandos. My PS2 was failing back in 2003 and I just got a copy of Commands. I never really got to play it. Then 13 years later Shadow Tactics comes out! And I was like, "this is like that Commandoes game I never got to play!" So stoked for Aiko's Choice!
I know this is an older video, but still felt obligated to comment- I swear, the more and more I watch Gameranx videos, the more I feel Falcon and I have the exact same taste and judgement in video games, and with this video, 99% of these games and what he said about them, are pulled straight from my brain Lol (particularly with Chaos Theory, Hitman Blood Money, Dishonored, Commandos, Oblivion)
Oh gosh. got such flashback from when you showed Splinter Cell! I played them all from the first release but the flashback I had was from one of the early releases that had a audio bug (either from the game itself or my 5.1 drivers at the time) which could pop up at any given moment. It was a loud high pithed static noise that would only get away by rebooting the game. Then I just had to enjoy the game until it inavitebly occured again 😂
I actually played 4 of these missions. The oblivion one, the two from both dishonoreds and the last from hitman. I agree that these missions are just awsome. Congratz on the video.
Glad to see Oblivion on here. That was my first thought when I read the headline of the video. Since it was a long time ago I actually forgot what the mission was about but remembered the feeling I got when I completed it which was just wow...that was an excellent mission. Nothing else came close to that for me. Questing in general was way better in Oblivion then Skyrim.
That's a nice video and i quite much like the Dishonored series as well, murdering people in excesses and trying to be as stealthy as possible. The music of the Oblivion part has gotten my attention, is there a way i can know what the music is? (There's no info about it in the description and music identifier apps do not work as well)
The series always had the problem where no one could see your silhouette though. If Sam is walking along a darkened line, but the background _behind_ him is well lit, then from the guards perspective they would see a very obvious shadow skulking past them, and that level really highlighted that problem.
Yeah, I dropped this game as a child because of how scary this level was for me, only to replay this game like years later, because this game was really cool
Ghost of Tsushima where Jin has to poison the Mongol soldiers. Or the mission where he's got to drop a letter in his uncle's bedchamber. Cool stealth missions.
After playing 250+ games in past 15 years, I still can't fathom why Dishonored 2 didn't sell 20M copies and revered as one of greatest game of this decade. Each level was so well crafted.
Cammando series was the hardest and most fun in a way because the internet was not so common in those days and you had to spend hours figuring it out yourself.
Funny how most of the people find sapienza to be the most iconic. I played A LOT of Hitman 1 & 2 and I loved (and hated) doing the silent assassin suit only master diff on every map EXCEPT for sapienza, which I failed to go back to ahah. Also, YES, commando is the franchise deserving a reboot/sequel the most. Keep it up !
I know it probably can’t compare with the others on the list but my favourite assassinations/stealth mission was in WoW when you do the legendary daggers quest
fun fact, in Oblivion if you use the invisibility spell you just run and no one will notice you cause it also apparently renders you completely silent making sneaking ridiculously easy. aslo the Clockwork Mansion mission is so cool, just so many ways you can go about it. sad Crack in the Slab didn't get on the list cause that's actually my fave mission from Dishonored 2.
man... Commando gave me trauma. I still remember how my players react as they were taking shots. My fav. used to be the spy with the moustache, the syringe was useful that game is sooooo dang hard
