Love the concept of this list. If you need any Top 10 ideas, I wouldn't mind you doing the other side of the coin: The Top 10 Terrible Matches That Ruined Great PPVs.
@@Vark1623 Yeah, that's a good one. I think Wrestlemania 25 qualifies as well thanks to that borefest of a main event between HHH and Orton. Honest to God, I almost fell asleep watching that match.
WWE 100% dropped the ball on Rene Dupree. He clashed with Cena a lot and obviously while history has shown us that the WWE made the right choice in pushing Big Match Johnny, I think if Dupree has picked up a win here or there, he could have become an effective midcard heel. He was pretty good at getting heat and he had a good look
Even though it was probably a contender for 2015's match of the year, the 2015 rumble had NOTHING good in it. Not a single match that was even remotely decent or even OK level.
Bret vs Austin at WM13 is the greatest match of all-time. The talent, the story telling, the double turn, and the overall impact on the industry. Austin was already over, but this match put him over the top and the rest is history. Austin's legacy, Attitude Era, and everything we took for granted in the entire wrestling business since DOES NOT HAPPEN without this match!!
Even more recent Summerslam 2021 Edge vs Rollins aside that Priest vs Sheamus was decent enough the main event they didn’t do much ( when you have this star power you Don’t necessarily do much) and the rest was dull
9:03 as you can see we have a beautiful picture of two best friends sharing a great moment together in the ring just before Jericho notices Mysterio can’t breathe so he rips off his mask to make sure he’s okay but Rey gets blinded by the lights and has to cover his face. Jericho gives his Bestfriend space by exiting the ring. What a great moment 🙌🏾
Upset that 2003 SummerSlam is in here cause I really enjoyed all the matches. That fatal 4 way was one of the best in wwe history and Kane vs rvd wasent that bad and Goldberg killing Chris Jericho thru a pod lives rent free in my head
I disagree with summerslam 2003. An elimination chamber match between 2002-2009 cannot ever be bad, no matter who you wanted to win. Plus Triple h did not beat Goldberg until Flair interfered. You make it sound like an injured Triple h beat Goldberg clean.
3:27 Are you kidding me? Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Rhyno and Tajiri's match at Summerslam '03 was amazing. And so was their elimination chamber match.
The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels-Mania 25. The Undertaker vs. CM Punk-Mania 29. Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks -HIAC 2019. Seth Rollins vs. The Miz-Backlash 2018z Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena vs. Seth Rollins-RR 2015.
Funny how no one ever mentions how when the Hitman and Stone Cold switched babyface/heel roles it only happened in the USA, the rest of the world still cheered Bret and booed Steve, even if wwe deny it. Just goes to show how easily history can be manipulated.
At least for me and my friends in the UK, we didn't start hating Bret, but we did start liking Stone Cold. Was it was a face/heel turn? I don't agree with that. I think it was just a face turn for Austin. I think for most people, Bret, much like Michaels at the same time, and Austin after WM17, were at a stage where they could never really be a proper heel again.
I'm shocked that Michaels vs Taker at Mania 25 didn't make the list... Mania 25 was mediocre at best, except for one of the greatest matches of all time. I would go as far as to say that people who bought the PPV (pre-Network, no less) got their money's worth from that match alone.
Pachitti hates HBK so he’s very rarely #1 on his lists, you can tell bc he can’t get through saying something good about him without giving a backhanded compliment “twice he mentioned the misplaced smile.” Taker n Shawn shoulda been number one and hell razor and hbk ladder match at summer slam 95 should’ve been top three bc other than that match the ppv sucked big time. Classic Pachitti
@@MegaShingo97 Cena vs. Show vs. Edge was the most unlucky thing on the show. It followed Taker vs. HBK after all. But it was good too. Cena lifting both men is still perhaps the most memorable moment of the show. Moment. Not match.
@@MrSweeney681 Ofc not, he's already called him one of the greatest of all time. WrestleMania 25 wasn't even horrible. The Hardy family drama match was great, Cena vs. Show vs. Edge is underrated (it had to follow Taker vs. HBK, dang the bad luck) and quite frankly, everything else was inoffensive. Apart from the main event which shouldn't have been the main event.
Summerslam 2003 was not a one match show. The main event was still good despite a flat ending and the others matches were entertaining. It’s a solid Summerslam
Cena vs Miz was awesome and ill stand on that hill. Probably one of my most memorable moments in wrestling was just cheering for Miz while everyone else wanted Cena.
I was at that Fastlane in 2018, and I can agree it was pretty unremarkable. One small note- Randy Orton's win over Roode for the US Title completed the Grand Slam for him. Also the the sound of the Bludgeon Bros powerbombing Xavier Woods into the steel stairs is one I will never forget.
I've always felt WWE always intentionally made The Great American Bash the worst PPV of the year just to shit on WCW further. It was part of the WCW Big 3 (Halloween Havoc being #2 and Starccade being Starccade). Don't even get me started on WWE making Starccade a glorified house show, but I suppose it better than them making it a PPV and also shitting on it.... WCW FOR LIFE!!!
I've actually had the misfortune of watching both Wrestlemania 27 and Battleground 2013 on DVD at least once - mostly because I got my Mum into wrestling and neither of us had seen either show...even if I had heard of the reputation of Mania 27 - and honestly, if it wasn't for The Rhodes vs. The Shield and Triple H Vs. Undertaker, then I would have thrown them in the bin. I'm glad I never watched the rest on DVD or the network honestly. Keep up the great work, your list s always brighten up my day!
Michaels vs Undertaker at Mania 25 should've been on here. It was arguably the greatest match of all time and other than the Hardys feud, the rest of the matches were not good.
2021: edge vs rollins summerslam, bayley vs bianca hell in a cell. Those i can think for 2021. 2020:tag team titles super showdown, boneyard match night 1 mania 36, mcintyre va rollins money in the bank, edge vs orton backlash, rollins vs mysterio, roman vs mcintyre survivor series,
I get WWE wanting more PPV's outside of Mania, Summerslam, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series but they oversatured their product starting with those In Your House PPV's that were basically episodes of RAW with a little more production. They added way to many after that
The Undertaker vs CM Punk at Wrestlemania 29 and The Undertaker vs HBK at Wrestlemania 25. The latter wasn't disastrous, but the rest of the card certainly underwhelmed
I wouldn't say Wrestlemania 29 was a disaster, just sadly underwhelming. Mania 25 was definitely underwhelming too though, outside of the aforementioned Undertaker match, that much is true.
Roman's match against Bryan at Fastlane 2015 is what convinced me that he's good in the ring. Before that, I wasn't 100% convinced. But when I watched that match, I was expecting Bryan to carry it, yet Roman held his own to the extent that surprised me.
@@apocalypse2819 He has reinvented his ring skills in a colossal way. He definitely needs to be applauded for that. Every matches involving Roman has a quality and moreover that unpredictability is what that carries us into the match. Kudos to WWE for shaping him up into an all-rounder.
@@apocalypse2819 True. But, the way how the portrayal of his in-ring personality absolutely sucked. Roman is a natural HEEL. It took years for WWE to pull the trigger, and look where is he is now. He is UNSTOPPABLE now!
@@deexith9559 Exactly. From his theme song, to his walk to the ring, to his actual moves. Everything about Roman screamed heel or tweener. It's crazy it took a pandemic for them to realise that.
@@JungleBunkRootsMusic2022 This guy is the face of WRESTLING right now! Agree or not, there’s no one on his level. The way he has been established into a super power is mind-blowing. It gives me chills thinking that who will even dethrone Reigns. The absolute masterpiece of storytelling is about to happen.
Man i remember seeing the actual NON-EDITED entrance for taker and hunter at mania xxvii(27 for you idiots that didn't learned roman numerals). For whom the bell tolls metallica for hhh and johnny cash for taker? What is going on
did taker have johnny cash? I thought that was just in the hype package. I had the DVD back when it came out and yeah, HHH entering to Metallica was fucking epic.
1. Lesnar Vs Cena Vs Rollins at Royal Rumble 2015. 2. Kurt Angle Vs Chris Benoit Royal Rumble 2003. 3. Randy Orton Vs Christian Over the limit 2011. 4. JBL Vs Eddie Guerrero Vs Booker T Vs Undertaker Armageddon 2004
I'd like to see the reverse side, 10 matches that did/nearly ruined ppvs. Or even 10 ppvs that were mostly built around 1 match such as Mania 30 Bryan v Orton v Batista, Mania 26 Taker v Michaels, and Backlash 2020 Edge v Orton
Blown away that wasn't on the list, I could have made it number one, but I guess it doesn't count because the MITB Match was at least a Mania Quality opener.
As far as I'm concerned, a one match show is only worthy of that title if that match is either the main event or the only match people wanted to see regardless. If the event's anticipation is built off that one match, it's a one match show. If it happens to only have one great match, and the match people wanted to see turns out to be a stinker, then it's just a bad show with a nugget of gold in it
Kinda agree. Difference for me is that I never paid a ton of money for it, I'm British, until recently it was part of the Sky Sports package. I don't ever recall watching a match and going to bed at 5am, happy, because even though the main event was shit, there was one good match on the card. Different situation I guess though. You've staid up until 4am, the whole card has been shit apart from one match, main event to come. That one match an hour earlier is not going to stop you trudging to bed wishing you'd not bothered watching any of it, because the main event was shit.
@@Zandohaha I feel you, here in Italy things are kind of the same. I remember the last PPV I've ever watched live was that WrestleMania when Ronda debuted. After I saw that match and saw there was a couple hours more, I just went to bed.
Sorry - SummerSlam 2003 was quality. Shane Vs Bischoff is one of my favourite matches ever. Coach's heel turn was genuinely shocking and Kane Vs RVD was gripping.
I disagree with SummerSlam 2003, I thought it was a great show. I can agree about Judgement Day 04' and IYH: Mind Games and WM27 too, New Year's Revolution was snake bit with injury which left a bad taste, apart from an excellent main event; but everything else? I feel as though it has been picked apart disrespectfully to performers and their craft. I now await the "LOL" etc, replies.
Others to put on here: Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle vs HHH and Stephanie McMahon at WM34 (ik wouldn't be the absolutfe worst if that match was average, but it hugely delivered) Brock Lesnar vs Eddie Guerrero at NWO 2004 (you already know the history, the only match that needed to be known on the card) Shawn vs Taker WM29, what do I need to say Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart and Owen vs Bret at WM 12 and 10 respectfully, they were the only thing memorable at those shows Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels at SS 1997, while the Montreal Screwjob is one of the most controversial moments in sports history, the match was still good, and you can't remember anything else really. It may sound weird, but Punk vs Jericho at WM28. Yes yes ik Cena vs the Rock was simply iconic, but if that wasn't on the show, Punk and Jericho would be the only thing that saved it. Honorable Mention: Taker vs Styles and Cena vs Bray at WM Nights 1 and 2 (besides KO's big fall and Orton vs Edge and Drew winning the title) pretty much is the real memorable thing about those shows. Especially with no fans, the introduction of the comedic matches were pretty cool
@@lordtrigon1733 Exactly! I don’t agree with Cultaholic’s argument that Triple H winning the chamber match made the ppv terrible. Yeah Goldberg should’ve won, but the match was still great.
Granted, I'm not a friend of Goldberg's, but I don't blame Goldberg directly for making the Elimination Chamber so bad. For me personally, there is nothing more boring about this match than when 1 knocks out everyone else and that was almost the case. The chamber where Braun Strowman kicked everyone except Reigns out (now I don't know when that was) was also pretty boring. For a match like this, a good mix is more important than a one-man show.
Fastlane has always been either just there (or filler PPV) or downright terrible. 2015 was just there, 2016 was just there, 2017 sucked, 2018 didn't even exist (if you understand me), 2019 was just there and 2021 was still okay, but still kinda filler. Edit: The 6-man thing came and that was atleast good.
No one missed Big Show. Basically he was the total opposite of Shawn Michaels in a PPV. The Show Snoozer, or the Show Shamer. He either was boring, silly comedic relief, or just meh.
