Seeing the LAATs being used by the Rebels in Jedi Fallen Order brought back so many memories from the original Battlefront 2 (2005). I remember flying those into the hangars of Imperial Star Destroyers and just cleaning house. It’s good to see those types of nods to the long time fans in new Star Wars media nowadays. The supposed chosen one, able to adapt to foreign technology and perform about as well as trained starfighter pilots after just a few podraces and at age 9 and people say he's just a little kid who got lucky. They say worse things about Rey of course. The thing about fiction that I've observed is that fiction likes Mary Sues. People who can survive and do great things. Don't you want to do great things and be inspired by great people... even if they're fictional and over the top? Kids do at least, and much of fiction is geared towards them, including and especially Star Wars. Look at all the kids' merchandise the franchise has produced. It's fun to imagine over the top stuff. Not everything has to make perfect sense and especially in fiction. Most loud minority fans over-analyze and over-criticize everything... and only their opinions matter to them.

Really a repurposed Acclamator would be better, and logistically simpler. Redo the interior, or even just wheel in the medibays as cargo. It can take enough of a hit not to be a sitting duck, and it's the fastest thing around. Besides in the turkey shoot department, it doesn't stand out from a regular ship. But then Acclamator variants were a very underutilized option. Heavy close in bombers (one of those loaded with proton bombs would have taken out the entire droid army at Geonosis). Loaded up with missiles and guns to be a pocket Battleship/Heavy raider. And as the Rebels did, a fast mini carrier. Post Empire, getting your hands on one would make you even more of a scoundrel than Han Solo with the Falcon. You could "scoundrel" in commerical quantities.
@leonwoo
@leonwoo 4 года назад
If it's a medical ship, it's not really meant to be used for frontline combat, so it's kind of a waste of resources to use a 'faster' hyperdrive on it, unlike combat vessels which need to get to their location as fast as possible, as every second matters for military strategies. On the other hand, a medical frigate generally has the facilities to at the very least stabilize all but the most serious of conditions, so it doesn't exactly need to rush to a medical station.

"The Y-Wing is the work horse of the Rebel Fleet. It's not quick or flashy, but it gets the job done. The armor on this craft is extensive, and its shields will protect you from just about anything, which is good because you won't be going anywhere fast. The Y-Wing is used mainly as a bomber, able to carry a heavy payload of missiles, torpedoes, or bombs. Another distinguishing feature is the addition of the topside ion cannon, which instead of destroying a target, can disable it for later capture. The cannons also have a computer assisted auto-fire feature, so don't forget that when you're in the heat of battle!"

The *LucreHulk* would be the single most useful ship to the Rebellion. A couple of these fitted out could be used as mobile bases, making them impossible to catch. The heavy droid automation would allow a minimal crew requirement, and the fact that it was a long utilised commercial design would make spare parts and maintenance simple. Forget Hoth or Yavin base, just one of these fitted out would be suitable, and it could relocate every once in a while to some backwater, not only making tracing it even more difficult, but allowing the Rebels to move their base of operations to different regions to take advantage of Imperial weak spots. And if the Rebels suspect at any moment that one of their operatives had been compromised, they could've jumped and left a hidden ship nearby to redirect any Rebels returning to base. Forget using them in direct combat. Perhaps that's why the Empire junked them, since otherwise they are a fantastic trade and logistics ship. The *ARC-170* Would be useful for Intelligence gathering, as was it's purpose, and for quick _hit and run raids_ against soft targets - particularly imperial convoys and lone ships. A few ARC-170's could decimate a Corvette or a outpost if they got in and got out before any Ties could be launched. And if there were no Ties … party. And since it used Turbolasers for damaging large targets that means less ordinance resupply than a Y-Wing, that must use bombs and torpedoes, which must be replaced. And then there's the *Acclamator,* the Empire made a mistake getting rid of these, they could have just released a updated version, and increased the number of variants. It's a ship so useful, that if the right waivers and exemptions could be obtained it would make a brilliant Freighter, particularly for time sensitive cargos or long range runs where quick turnaround allows more runs. Nick one and make a fortune in the unknown regions. Or just use them after the Empire falls if any are still able to be salvaged. I'm surprised no one reverse engineered the design, or at least salvaged the hyperdrives from them (if you ran a quasi legal ship of the appropriate tonnage, a second hand Acclamator hyperdrive would be worth its weight in Bacta). It's a excellent raider and also counter raider. If the Empire had fitted them out like the Rebels to be mini carriers, they could've had Ties quickly respond to any trouble spots. You really need to do a video on possible uses and users of the post Clone Wars Acclamator (besides wasted as a imperial slave transport - although less transit time does make sense).

What are you blabbering about? The Lucrehulk was a beast in combat (it was only the inept CIS-Commanders and Admirals who usually wasted their advantages!) - it took several Venators to kill one of them and hell, if you replace their crappy droid starfighters with better ones (or gunboats and modified freighters at best - because starfighters are flying coffins, ships like the Outrider can do what a starfighter can do, while bringing more firepower and durability to the battlefield!) then you have a hard to destroy mobile base! Also the Rebell's confirmed Lucrehulk was called the FORTRESSA - that other ship is from Disney Wars, not Star Wars!
@tba113
@tba113 4 года назад
I both love and hate the Lucrehulk design. I love how _different_ it appears from other, more familiar ships in Star Wars. It was representative of the whole lineup of Trade Federation vehicles in The Phantom Menace, in that it followed a completely different design and operational philosophy than the Empire, Alliance, or New Republic I'd grown up with. It was emblematic of just how much new territory we were about to explore. What I hate about it is how absurd its design _as a carrier_ is. Its two launch bays open almost directly toward each other, which means any time it has to launch or recover fighters, there's a huge bottleneck. The ship's fighters and fighter-bombers can't go roaring out at high speed or in large numbers, or they'd risk ramming into other squadrons coming out of the other hanger almost directly toward them. Recovery of the ship's strike package after a battle has similar issues, but with the added complication that the fighters may be damaged and less-maneuverable than usual. Obviously the Trade Federation was able to get around this, since we don't see massive pileups or accidents during launch or recovery. I suspect they did this by using droid fighters, who aren't so much a pilot working a vehicle as they are a (semi-)conscious entity just moving itself normally, and whose computer-controlled reactions are machine-precise and practically light-speed. As a package deal, it's fine - but that also means the Lucrehulk is only ever really effective when it's fielding Vultures. Stacking it with X-Wings or TIEs means accepting big losses in efficiency. But now we're back to another aspect I love about the Lucrehulk, because from the Trade Federation's perspective, the design working well only with Vulture droids is not really a problem. After all, the Trade Federation's real goal isn't fielding armies, it's _making sales._ Convincing a customer to buy Vultures probably means selling them Lucrehulks as well, and vice versa: you could just buy one or the other, but they really shine as a package deal. Not only would that mean bigger money to the Trade Federation up front, but it means up-selling the customer on an entire catalogue of upgrades, spare parts, and maintenance programs that keep the money rolling in for decades. That fits in perfectly with the Trade Federation's overall philosophy when it comes to their other weapon systems on offer. As military systems, their performance isn't exactly impressive compared to more traditional fighters, transports, warships, tanks, or soldiers, but they're effective _enough,_ they _look_ impressive, and they come in huge numbers. So by those metrics, the Lucrehulk does precisely what it's designed to do: sell Trade Federation products. The fact that it's a decent enough carrier is gravy.

I think it’s unlikely, since venators were really carriers more than anything. They are amazing at that role, but most rebel/new republic star fighters were hyperdrive equipped. The acclamator though... that thing is a beast. It’s the perfect landing ship, as it can withstand most ground based artillery that’s not prepared for an attack, and drop off thousands of troops, tanks, and supplies, all at the same time, instead of having to wait

This is the irritating part of Star Wars cannon the tarkon doctrine is used to explain why star fighter priority as so low for the empire but yet the TIE is the perfect mass deployed fighter yet a ISD can carry so few of them its like the TIE was designed to be spammed. Then you have the venator which would have been the perfect complement to the TIE being able to carry hundreds of spam fighters and yet its destroyed and scraped. But because rebels takes place before the battle of Yavin we know the Empire had dedicated fighter carriers so why where they not used at battles like Yavin or Holth because I can assure you had the empire threw up a contingent of several hundred TIE no space wizard would have blew up the DS1 and no rebels would have escaped Holth.

The Rebel Alliance should've used more ARC-170s. It would win 8/10 times 1V1 against an X-Wing. The X-Wing's forward gunnery is easy to shrug off for the ARC-170 which has shields and a bit of armor. The X-Wing may dart around more being lighter but the ARC-170's forward gunnery can 1-shot any fighter, add tail turret gunnery that the X-Wing won't want to be at the receiving end of, and the X-Wing is quite outgunned, and needs a lot of hits on the ARC-170 to damage it.

They never complained about the former ship too as it was already shielded and armored enogh to repell the slave one for what? 2 minutes straight BOMBARDMENT? And dont give me "hits asteroids" ... the shield of obi's fighter repelled most of the shots, you even see the hits in some of the great chasing scenes in ep2.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Rebels had gotten ahold of at least one, if not more, Providence-class warships. The former flagships of the Confederacy, armed to the teeth with turbolasers and also a massive hangar supporting the Rebellion's fighter-based tactics, would've been a good addition to the Alliance as something that could stand up to an opposing Victory-class warship and, with a Rebel snubfighter compliment, could've put even Imperial-class warships at risk. And if the Rebellion could get their hands on Vulture Droid fighters and Tri-Droid fighters, they'd have a screen against the Empire's waves of TIE Fighters. Then again, there's something to be said about the Providence the Rebels used called Rebel One... namely all of the above points...

Pity the New Republic didn't contact Cygnus Spaceworks to see if they could order a version of the Alpha-class Xg-1 Starwing as a replacement for the Y-Wing. It was faster, more agile and had the ability to launch all its missiles in one shot. It would have been perfect for the Alliance's hit and run strategy. These would have been great ships for use in planetary defense forces and could be used to finish off the capital ships used by the Imperial remnant.
