This is why I'm leery of constitutional carry. I don't want someone who has never put a full box of 50 rounds through the gun he's carrying to load the gun and put it in his waistband. In a stressful situation, he's more likely to shoot himself or me than to solve the problem. Here, we have to qualify (scored/timed) to show we can safely and proficiently use a firearm to get a permit. I'm not against it...

A round in the chamber ... saw a police video where a licensed man was stopped by police as a precaution (no crime) and the person identified that he was armed. The person advised the police that there was no round in the chamber, and the officer asked him "Why not?". I understand some people think it's safer to have an empty chamber, but the time needed to draw and rack the slide could be a fatal choice.
@johnl69
@johnl69 4 месяца назад
Where I'm from the popo make a big deal about me having 1 in the chamber as they violate my rights countless times as they " degun" me - I coined that word. Nevermind that I am never breaking any laws . Never mind that they have no RAS as they put me in handcuffs or point tasers or their firearms at me after I ask them(popo) if I am being detained after I refuse to ID. It goes much deeper for a lot longer. P. S., I live in a stop and ID state. The popo here ACTUALLY believe they can do so legally. No state is a " stop and ID" state , as I'm sure most of you are aware of this. I need a very good Civil Rights attorney pro no or at least willing to seek on a contingency basis. I have much documentation to verify the truth. Body cam, dashcams, police reports, audio, witnesses etc. If any attorney may be interested, I believe it should be a pretty easy case to win in court, easier out of court- which is what I am sure they'll be pushing. Or if you know a good attorney, friend, family member, I would DEFINITELY appreciate it. You see, I am in fear for my life and have been for the last 2 years!! Popo is building ( documenting)a case that it would be a "justified" murder- because I reached for my gun. I assure you that will NOT be the facts. I have ZERO felonies, I am not considered " armed and dangerous" by any reasonable person. The last word " dangerous" is what the police here do not get. Officer safety??? Gtfoh. As SC has stated being armed does not automatically make a person dangerous or give the popo the right to do a Terry frisk. They are trying (audio and video evidence) to say I have mental illness and that I am a crazy person. I am not. I will give an attorney my email, phone number, and the large amount of evidence I could secure. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful in getting the most damning evidence against them( video from jail) . That where the " cruel and unusual" punishment takes place for NOT breaking ANY laws. I got the 2 charges dropped after much coercion from my PD to accept the 1st plea, then the 2nd plea deal they offered, then to forgo my right to a jury trial and let the corrupt judge decide my fate. I did the work my attorney didn't do , didn't want to do. In fact , he told me after we he saw bodycams and DC that the popo had me " dead to rights" , his words not mine. I was also threatened with MORE charges against me because I was making the police, states attorney and I believe he also said the judge " extremely uncomfortable" , again his words not mine, for asking them to do their job. Sorry so long. I am basically begging for someone, anyone to help me get justice before I end up as another " police murder" . Thank you in advance.

I'm a small elderly woman with small hands and a weak grip so I carry a S&W .38 special revolver that fits my hand and I can pull the trigger. I've taken CC classes and self defense classes. I don't feel comfortable with automatics as I lost a friend from an "unloaded" that "accidentally" fired when the clip was pushed into it. I believe you should carry the gun you feel the most comfortable and confident with.

Nothing wrong with a good quality revolver ! .6 for shure I particularly like the centennial hammerless type snub noses... But they do take a little more training.. with the trigger.. one fantastic revolver for self-defense is the Taurus 856 defender.. 3 inch barrel with decent sights..good trigger pull.. 3-in has better sight radius... And a little better point ability.. nice thing about revolvers is if the grips don't fit your hands correctly you can install aftermarket grips that fit your hands better. For instance I like hogue monogrip on my j frame snub noses..

I am at ease when i know i can defend myself and my family. If i dont have it on me, I guarantee im in a horrible mood, anxious, snippy, and going to get it as soon as possible. Made the mistake of following NY gun laws on a trip to Buffalo for a cousins wedding. Got jumped in DT 5 broken ribs, brain bleed, left arm snapped clean in 2. Where I live, I don't carry a gun. If I go to my grocery store I never carry a gun. I try to remember to keep a small pocket 9 under my car seat, but I sometimes forget. I never open carry and I've only seen one person do that in my county in 30 years. If we have a conservative-started civil war, I might consider carrying a gun but so far I feel safe. When I go to a Costco in my region's biggest city of 34,000, I never carry a gun and a few months ago in another store in that city, I talked to a guy in the check-out line who was open carrying a .45ACP, but that is very unusual. And all that fear that people will take guns and other people will try to shoot me and others, just makes buying some guns impossible and makes ammo expensive.

@@PatrickThreewit u said: *If we have a conservative-started civil war* Just wondering - which side would you be on? As far as I can see it'll be a L oppressing the R situation (as we've seen already since 2020) which would necessitate such action....
@PatrickThreewit
@PatrickThreewit 5 месяцев назад
@@kevinrtres First thing we need to agree on is that this is not 1850. It is 2024. We will not have gray and blue uniforms, so forget the TV shows. In the past 20 years civil wars around the world have changed, with social media being a big part of that. This next war will not have only two sides. The war in Yugoslavia that began with one side became many factions and they all became enemies to each other. Now I was only able to list 24 factions in this country. I'll list a few and you can tell me which one you would fight for_ conservatives, liberals, rinos, liberal Christians, pro-life libertarians, pro-choice libertarians, Evangelical Christians, white conservative Christian nationalists, Christians against Christian nationalism, independents, all democrats, MAGA's, Three Percenters, Light Foot Militia, North Idaho Militia, followers of the Confederacy, Blacks, Mexicans, Boogaloo Bois, pro-polygamy Mormons, Trump supporting Mormons, Mormons opposed to Trump, The Proud Boys, North Idaho Militia, Oath Keepers, Antifa, John Brown Gun Club of Seattle (Blacks), BLM, Idaho conservatives, California conservative move-ins to Idaho????? On factionalized wars, militias are active. A couple days ago I learned that there are two types of militias, organized (state run and not federal), and unorganized. It is legal in the blue state of Washington to have an unorganized one,but is illegal in the red state of Idaho. In this country, unorganized militias have no leader so which militia will fight who? Conservatives in general seem to want a war because I go to SHTF sites online. I found two liberal sites and hundreds of conservative ones, which are filled with firearm recommendations, And dems don't have the guns. Republicans do. Conservatives are worried about the browning of America. Most of the non-white Americans are Democrats so why would they want a war? White conservative Christian nationalists want this country to be taken back as Trump advocates, to a time when white conservative males had the power and authority. Christians are in decline in this country. Non-whites are coming across the border, and young people are becoming less Christian and less conservative and more liberal. Conservatives want this to be a Christian country and they will push to make it that way. And the JAG, DOJ, U.S. Army military code of ethics in an election yea, just came out in 2024. It is a 46-minute audio-visual explanation by Army personnel as to what a soldier can and cannot do in an election year. So much for the military taking the side of the rebels against the government. I am neither a liberal, nor a conservative, because I do not like government control of citizens especially in order to push a religious moral objective, and I oppose helping the super -rich, by tax cuts and wars.

Also off-limits are national cemeteries, military bases (unless they are in the military), federal dams, Amtrak trains, post offices, national parks, ferries to national monuments, and Indian reservations. I have had 3 instances in which I had to draw my ccw. The problem is, Wisconsin doesn't side with the actual victim. You can run into a situation, have to draw, de-escalate the situation, and leave, or the other party leaves, but if they get a plate or address and call the police, despite the facts, the Milwaukee Police Department, will arrest you for disorderly conduct while armed, or pointing a firearm at another person, even if it was never pointed at the other person. Since 2012, I've had over $10G's in legal fees because of this, lost a job because of it, and despite all of that, and my wife not wanting me to, I STILL, and will always carry, because F everyone. This analogy would make sense if the seat belt was a weapon for taking lives. Life isn’t a movie. Very few self defense scenarios require any kind of quick draw and fire movements. If you can’t, draw and rack in a couple seconds you need to practice more. Statistically people injure themselves with accidental discharges than ever being in a self defense scenario. This gate keeping in the gun community is so goofy. Way too many John Wick cosplayers. People need to do what’s more comfortable to them

The main reason people do not carry all the time is because they bought the wrong gun and or holster, having the wrong gun or holster is uncomfortable, causes printing, so then you get n the habit of leaving the gun in your vehicle or home. In my personal opinion which may piss some people off, too many people carry full size or hand cannons when they don't have the height or frame to carry it, move to a smaller gun that will be more comfortable and easier to carry.

It's good to see someone saying to stick to one platform. It seems like common sense to me, but I know a lot of people that carry different guns depending on which way the wind is blowing. I carry one gun- a Glock 43. It fits me perfectly, I can operate it blindfolded and sleeping, it carries comfortably and conceals well. The only other gun I would carry is a 10mm in bear country. My father recently left me a M&P 9mm and a little poc .380. As soon as I can, I will take them to the dealer and trade them both for another Glock 43 to keep on the boat. Run some rounds through it for a reliability check and it's ready for service- no added practice or training required.

I used to keep the chamber empty. Then, I took the two-day CCW class. After all the gun drills and carrying it live for two days, my pistol sits in my holster, hot and ready. Practice is key, as is anticipating misfires and knowing immediately what to do next. I also know how to make fast mag changes. Again, practice is key; if the gun feels awkward in your hand, you will likely need to train more often. Like I was trained, you look at the holster to place the gun into it consciously and slowly. You always look! When practicing Dry Fire, there is never any ammo near where you are practicing. Now, practice pulling the gun out and getting on target as fast and accurately as possible. Learn how to draw aim and fire. There are many excellent teachers on RU-vid for guidance..

I was that way too until I looked into the gun more, took it apart and viewed the safety mechanisms and how they worked. Then I realized that with most modern guns, a negligent discharge due to the gun going off by itself is almost impossible. Snagging on something, sure, but you're only removing and replacing the gun at the beginning and end of the day so that's not a concern throughout the day.

Really great video. I have taught people a number of times, if you're scared of it, carry with the chamber empty for a week. Two weeks if you really have to, and see if it goes off. I do tell them to carry with the mag in there though, so that the weight is proper and just in case, they can always rag one in if they need it. You mention training with one gun, but for me that's where having mostly Glocks comes in handy. For me, they all feel about the same, and shoot the same. And of course the same MOA. That way I have variety without necessarily having to totally retrain. But really good points on your video and I will share it with anybody that I think is looking to carry and it is pretty nude to the lifestyle. God bless, brother.

@AnthonyBattagliaPTE
@AnthonyBattagliaPTE 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for you honesty and transparency. I wouldn't say your fear is ridiculous at all. It's comes from a position of "lack of knowledge". When I first started carrying concealed I did what I recommended in the video and carried empty with the slide racked so I could test all the different situations that I could think of - sitting in the car, taking the holster off and putting it on, etc. etc. I learned the internal workings of my firearm and saw that it was impossible for the gun to fire with the striker block in place. The only way the striker block would move is if the trigger was purposefully pressed to the rear. So, with that knowledge I knew that if I wore a holster that completely and rigidly surrounded the trigger AND prevented anything else from getting into the holster, then I would be completely confident that it would not actuate on its own. NOW, was I still a bit uneasy and unsure when I began carrying with a round in the chamber? I was. BUT the more and more familiar I became with gun safety, gear safety and firearm operation and the more repetitions of daily carry I completed, the more comfortable (not complacent, but comfortable) I became. Let me encourage you to take your time and learn all you can about your gun, training with it and carrying it confidently, and after some time you will be very confident in using and carrying it. Thanks for commenting. God bless you and yours.

If your right handed and driving in America, cross draw is the quickest way to engage a perp on either your driver side or passenger side. Seat belt is less intrusive. Anthony you are one smart man! Everything you said is spot on. I purchased my carry gun after testing 5 different pistols. I knew the one I wanted was the right one when all the numbers said this was the right gun. The final deciding factor was when I fired the first round I hit the Bulls Eye. One I received the permit to take delivery I took it out on the range. First short was a Bulls Eye! That was 4 years ago. I first added a proper holster. Then a separate spare mag holder. Months later I added a laser. At that point being in my later 60’s I did change out the Trigger Spring to reduce the trigger pull. Slowly I tightened the already great gun to be even better. After 3+ years I swapped the slide so I could add a reflex sight. I am at the range at least 2x’s a month. I have more than a few guns so I rotate them. However every time I run a box of ammo through my CDC. My CDC is a Sig P365. With a Sig laser and Holosun 507K.

Great video. Thank you. You echo almost word for word what I teach in my CCW classes. In Florida, the "no firearms" decals on the doors of private businesses is only a notification of the business policy. It is not against the law to carry in those businesses, but it is against their policies. So if they determine you are carrying a firearm, they can ask you to leave. If you do not, they can call LEO and have you arrested for trespassing. My biggest frustration is when I happen to run into a former student months or years after I gave them the class. I ask therm how the training is going and to often their answer is something akin to, "You know, I haven't shot it since I took your class." Thanks again.

Great video touched a lot of important points . I would like to add a few things that I’ve learned in my 6 years of carrying inside the wasteband . #1 get that claw grip on you inside the waste band holster . It truly does help with printing . That will make you feel more comfortable so you are not inadvertently continuously messing with your gun because your mind thinks that it’s printing. #2 . Maintain your gun . After carrying the rubbing against clothes lint gets all over your gun especially the tip . So every now and then if you’re not actively firing it a lot . Take it apart clean and oil your guns . I don’t personally like to open carry ( kind of #3 ) I don’t want to be a target cause my gun is so visible . I like keeping my element of surprise . #4 don’t put a ton of stickers on your cars . Even though you might not have a gun in there the criminals will think it might have one and you are asking for your car to get broken into . #5 don’t put foolish designs on your gun like making it look like a PlayStation controller or blood dripping off it . If you ever have to use your firearm in a defensive situation a DA is going to use that against you just like if you have flooded your social medias with all your shooting and all your targets and all your guns that you have kind of keep it private you could show a little but don’t go buck wild no one needs to know but you . Don’t give DA’s the ammo to sink you when all you did was protect your life or the life of another . Take your guns seriously . Avoid any and all confrontations . Just because you are carrying shooting someone is still the last last resort . The best way to win a gun fight is to never get in one . If the fight comes to you by all means handle it . Your top mission is to go home to your loved ones . God bless - go Trump and protector 2A always .😮

Great info..have heard most of same info. from other smart shooters and officers...carry a HK SK 9mm (hammer/double action) and have a second one as backup (rotate them every couple months ) in case of damage or loss..that way always have the same grip ,controls and holster..so I dont have to learn a new carry, would like to see what you think on carry caliber and ammo, ..have seen "tools and targets " on you tube (he seem to do a great comparison on rounds)..and uses chrony and gel test..with short barrel carry options so you get a true velocity and expansion.. not the over hyped marketing on the box

in 1991 Luby's shooting. READ worth every line. On October 16, 1991, Suzanna Hupp, a customer at the Luby’s Cafeteria in Killeen, Texas, was unable to defend herself during the mass shooting that occurred when George Hennard drove his pickup truck through the front window and opened fire. Hupp, who normally carried a .38 revolver in her purse, had left the weapon outside in her car, parked in the parking lot. This decision was made in compliance with Texas gun laws at the time, which prohibited carrying firearms in public establishments. As a result, Hupp was left defenseless and helpless during the shooting, which ultimately claimed the lives of her parents, both of whom were also customers at the cafeteria. Her experience had a profound impact on her, and she later became a vocal advocate for gun rights, opposing gun control legislation. Despite her traumatic experience, Hupp chose to carry a concealed firearm in the future, emphasizing the importance of self-defense and the need for individuals to be able to protect themselves in situations like the Luby’s shooting. Statement of Suzanna Hupp ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3414MVvkAXE.htmlsi=7zm6UUAYo_CSqf70 Im not promoting you to break the law, I encourage you to exercise the right to defend your life and your loved ones, is always another place where you are welcome.

I don't get this constant paranoia that things are so bad or there going to get bad. But your points about carrying are valid.
@AnthonyBattagliaPTE
@AnthonyBattagliaPTE 5 месяцев назад
Well, paranoia would be unfounded. However, actual events during election years lately are not unfounded or paranoia. They happen to be reality. Now, just because that didn't happen in your location doesn't negate the truth of the increased probability during a volatile time in our country, compounded by an election year increasing the odds of needing your EDC. Thanks for a very informative video for someone new to conceal carry. I agree that too many people get way too worked up about capacity, brand, caliber, etc. As I see it, 99% of the issue in a self-defense situation is 1. Are you carrying a firearm, and 2. Have you trained and gotten proficient with it so you can quickly and effectively put rounds on the target. All the rest is relatively minor by comparison.

I took a lot of private defensive pistol classes when I was new. The statistics he showed me were incredible. Most civilians never fire more than three shots in a gunfight and most of those fights happen within 9 feet So capacity isn't really an issue for most people even if they think it is. Of course, learning to use your sites whether it's an optic or iron site is important, but "point shooting", is probably a more useful skill for the every day civilian defensive carrier.

CCW in New York, California or New Jersey is extremely restricted, leaving very few places you can actually carry. No firearms on government properties, airports, bus stations, churches, schools or within 1000" of a school. In New York; no carry on private property unless posted allowing concealed carry, which I have never seen. Having a firearm in the home or your private business is an option to protect yourself. CCW anywhere in a liberal state will risk you long prison term and loss of 2A rights. That is the reality unless/until CCW laws are changed.

Very nice. I started with a hellcat. After Bout 4000 rounds, I got some after market parts. Better feeling trigger, a front sight I can see more easily, mag release I can feel better, and a metal mag plate. Just for me to function it better or mentally feel better. New pistol...found out I work better with a slightly larger weapon. First 15 rounds with a sig legion, we're just as accurate as my hellcat after 7months of use... New training comenses, and always learning. Comes down to what matches you. I do see myself printing a bit, but never had anyone know anything. Its funny when you think of it. Only the good guys look for it.

I carry a p-238 (mini 1911 basically). I can draw and chamber a round in less than a second. No round in the chamber to worry about. That's an acceptable compromise for day-to-day carry. If I'm going somewhere sketchy i may chamber a round and put the thumb safety on.

Good video Anthony. I have one of your holsters for G19/26. I would add one more Mistake Not to Make and it would be number one-Situational Awareness. The first 10 mistakes/corrections won't matter if you are not keeping aware of what's happening around you and avoiding potentially dangerous situations when you can. I'm not speaking of paranoia but condition "yellow".

If you practice will all of them, can be consistent with them on target straight out of the safe/holster, there isn’t a problem. But each gun varies. So if you practice more with one than another, because you are more accurate with it, you know which one you should be carrying. That’s true for me. While I practice with both, first few shots with my micro aren’t dead on. My HK, it feels better in my hand, it’s thicker, and I’m more accurate on the first shot after draw. That’s the one I carry every single day.
