That entire 'family' in Alaska should have been banned from owning or operating any boats in the future. They do not "own" any water and sure as h-ll don't have the right to set up blockades.

I agree. As someone that comes from a "third generation" fishing family they should've known that what they did was not only wrong, but was also asking for something like that to happen due to them not having the right to make a blockade in the first place.

With regard to the Kydon, last video, I do not think that accident was caused by an 'aggressive current'. Look at the considerable speed the ship (not 'boat') lurks forward and the black smoke coming from the smoke stacks. That indicates to me that for some reason the ship engine's telegraph was accidentally set in 'full ahead'.

The container ship on 3:42… those can not make sharp steering angles. Has to do with stability. That why it needs tugboats. Tug boats have to manoeuvre it in its place. This probably has to do with wind or the engine not stopping.

Genesis river started to lose control, and since they are in a narrow channel, genesis river told the tow to meet him on 2 (or stbd to stbd), so the tow was trying to cross the channel to avoid a collision. The genesis river ended up bouncing off the bank and right in to the tow.

The Houston port one was ridiculous. The captain needed to go to reverse and crank the wheel left well before getting there. It is a far safer maneuver than attempting to make the turn away from the collision. It’s also logic 101. Don’t take an action that you know will close the distance. I’m guessing at a minimum a suspended license for that captain.

It would be interesting, "Underworld", if you found (a) clip(s), of (a) collision(s) far out in the MIDDLE of oceans, around standard shipping lanes. Extremely unlikely, but the closest example that I can think of, happened in 1956, between "Stockholm" and "Andrea Doria".
