the thumbnail was the Mobile crash. (i was there when it happened) Carnival had just been there 2 days before, and the (Older ship) The Wheeler had just finished its repairs. High winds caused the Carnival ship to break free from its moors causing a Power outage and 2 guy fell into the water ( 1 survived) it then drifted across the cannel and into The Wheeler ship Trapping one tow boat between them. and the guy filming was not a BAE Employee (BAE was on the other side of the cannel).

Antwerp is the largest municipality in Belgium with a population of 502,604 inhabitants as of 1 January 2023 As of 1 January 2023, the City of Brussels had a population of 194,291 inhabitants. The Brussels-Capital Region is a region of Belgium comprising 19 municipalities, including the City of Brussels, with a population of 1,235,192 inhabitants as of 1 January 2023. @@montecarlomc2867 That's ridiculous. It's like saying that Salisbury is almost five times the size of London because The City of Salisbury's population is 41,820 while that of The City of London is just 8,600. Just as The City of London (the administrative area so called) is a small part of London (the whole city, in the normal meaning of "city"), so is the Municipality of Brussels a small part of the city of Brussels (in the normal meaning of "city"). The RU-vidr has obviously looked in Wikipedia and found the (correct) phrase "With a population of 536,079, [Antwerp] is the most populous municipality in Belgium," and not realised how ignorant it makes him sound to replace "municipality" with "city". An international audience is not interested in the details of a conurbation's local government. EDIT: It gets worse. 50 seconds in: "On December 9th of 2019 a 1000 foot container ship from Mexico City [!!] arrived in the port of Vosland, an extension of Antwerp's main hub." With this level of General Ignorance, how can you reply on anything at all in the video? I'm out of here.
@superboats2

Funny how just about everyone assumes that the Captain is literally at the helm, driving the ship and not a crew member taking orders. It's not always the Captain that saves the ship, I ought to know I saved two ships as the helmsman and I'm not even an Officer of a ship.
@derektaylor2941
@derektaylor2941 4 месяца назад
'driving'? Every commercial vessel must have an Officer standing watch and so unless you disobeyed a poor command or were left without an Officer, could you elaborate on how YOU saved TWO ships? I'm not even a licensed deck hand, working instead in a shore administration. I have taken the helm of a 40,000 ton vessel out in open water and made course changes manually. All I did was follow instructions. Same as you, I think.
@yeeebayeeba4268
@yeeebayeeba4268 3 месяца назад
Well, as a merchant mariner myself, on cruise ships, the Master almost always dies his own docking and undocking. Then the pilot takes over until vessel is out of port. Helmsman could be anyone from chief mate to third mate, or another bridge officer.
@derektaylor2941
@derektaylor2941 3 месяца назад
@@yeeebayeeba4268 out of interest, is there an actual definition of helmsman? To my mind it is literally turning a wheel (either directly to the tiller/ rudder or by turning a computer controlled wheel/ knob). I wonder if by Nation and/or Merchant Vs Armed Navy whether the term differs. I have taken the helm on several occasions on a large passenger ferry, despite not even being ships company. Although encouraged to keep a watch on the horizon/ displays, I could not take the place of the official lookout nor of course OoW. It was literally turning a small dial for heading and only in open water. Yet others have described helmsman as anything from lookout to navigator. NB for anyone who is interested, the Master of the vessel explained that under English law (may differ in other Nations) ANYONE so designated by the Master could be a trainee in any of the lower positions. Most of the crew had taken turns at Helm, especially those seeking to move into navigation department.

15:35...I remember when that occurred with the Carnival Triumph in Mobile (pronounced Mo-beel btw) Alabama. Wasn't there a tropical storm or tropical depression going on? It's been quite a few years since then, so the details are a little fuzzy, but I definitely remember seeing about that on the news.

Large cruise ships might be architectural marvels but in my opinion are hideous monstrosities that should be nowhere near places like Venice.

Mobile, Alabama....the city's name is pronounced Mo-beel ( two syllables , the second one rhymes with eel, feel, heel, deal). Thank you.

I've seen the original video of the second clip, the small ship was overtaking the big one, hydro dynamics caused it to be sucked toward the big one, they were hoping they would clear it before the collision.

A 1000 ft container ship from Mexico City. That would be an interesting trip.

So cruise ships are the menace in the ocean from what is seen here. Kind of takes the joy out of going for a cruise.

Bro when you are describing the Bangladesh incident you mentioned it is sandwiched between India & Manipur. Please note that Manipur is a State in India. The correct statement would have been the Indian state of West Bengal and Manipur.
