Pulled out my Jeff's map to follow along. I have done the Cedar Lake Loop up the Nippising and down the Petawawa several times but never went the Radiant Loop. Been to Crow Lake and Lavielle. It was fun to see you in places I have been and ending at one of my favorite campsites, Shangra-La Island on Catfish Lake. I'm almost 72 and did this when I was 30-40. Thanks for the memories.

@@JohnBurdette-or7if I'm very sorry to hear about your health issues John. I do sincerely hope that you find a way to continue spending time in the outdoors in whatever manner you can. Love the video, I want to take a trip up there someday. I'm a photographer and can't help but give some advice on composition and pacing. You tend to put the horizon in the center of the frame. That works well in this thumbnail. Most people subconsciously prefer when the horizon is shifted up or down, depending on what you want to emphasize. As far as pacing, slow down the camera pan on the scenic shots. I hope this comes across as helpful and not like a know-it-all. Thanks for sharing your experience in this Beautiful place.

I very much appreciate your input and advice! As you can tell I am very new the filming/video aspect of things - but I really want to improve for my upcoming trips. I've purchased a travel tripod and will be filming on an iPhone 12 Pro max rather than a GoPro 8 and iPhone 8+ (with busted mic) this year. I still want to minimize my overall gear however, as I generally like to travel fast & light. Thanks again for your input and I hope you are able to make it out to Algonquin soon! It is indeed a very beautiful and special place. Cheers!

@kevinthewild
@kevinthewild Год назад
Thank you! Radiant is a very cool lake. It's extremely shallow with a sandy bottom on the north / east side. If you really want to enjoy it, avoid June and even early July as the bugs will be bad. If you don't have your own canoe, you can arrange a rental from Algonquin Outfitters Brent location on Cedar lake. Just keep in mind that they don't have cell reception there, and they have a more limited amount of canoes to rent. So make sure you reserve your canoe well in advance of your trip. Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers!

Cool video! What site number is this? I don’t quite understand if you booked ahead or not haha!
@kevinthewild
@kevinthewild 3 года назад
Thanks Amanda. I misspoke earlier in the video - in Algonquin you don't "book" particular campsites, you reserve the lake you will camp on each night. So what I meant to say on the first day is "had all the campsites on this side of Cedar Lake been taken, I would have had to paddle all the way back up against the wind to find an available campsite on the far west side". On Lake Lavielle the campsite I stayed at is on the North-West side near the mouth of Crow Bay :)

Couple things.... almost this whole video is the tip of ur boat going through water. Not exactly exciting. Great beautiful shots throughout but dude.... there is no content that is needed to make videos like this great. No fishing, cooking or fire making. You don't show off any gear or any skills. You have a great start here, ur own boat, access, camera and editing... but just boring. No doubt you have seen videos of Joe, Shawn and Doug. Lost lakes or the baird bros, Alexis outdoors. I'm Canadian too so I know all those guys. They have exciting videos because they show all the things you didn't. Just my 2 cents
