It doesnt because his opponent was a complete can and Derrick isn't champ material, never was but HW is so shallow that he found himself fighting for it. Imo ofc. Also, recency bias is a thing.
How did you guys forget Paul Craig vs. Magomed Ankalaev, Paul Craig was on a two fight losing streak (was knocked out in both losses) and was on the last fight of his contract and got fed to Ankalaev who was a super hyped up undefeated prospect and Craig got the last second sub to win.
I would definitely add Mark Hunt to this list. Lost 6 fights in a row and then came back in the ufc to his signature walk off KO on a whole bunch of dudes.

Yeah IIRC he had losses in Pride and UFC got his contract when they bought Pride. Because of his losses, the UFC originally want to pay him for his remaining fights and cut him, but Hunt asked to fight instead. He then lost his first UFC fight, asked again to fight and won that one.
Correct, Cro Cop was lighter by about 5 - 10 pounds. But objectively, nobody could have beaten Cro Cop during that one year run of 2006. It all just came together for him after the split decision lost to Mark Hunt in 2005. Mirko in 2006 would have been able to first round left kick cemetary God, Allah, Buddah, Yahweh, and Ganesh in a one night tournament all in a row and asecend to a higher level of existence as the undisputed diety of the entire multiverse. My coach (from Halifax UK) was fighting in pancrase whilst they were both still teenagers. First Brit to get in ken shamrocks lions den too. He's a real pioneer
@@maxfoth2Pride FC refs had earpieces in their ears along with body cams to let the executives see how the fight goes. Sometimes if the fight wasn’t going how they wanted it plan out, they’ll talk to the ref through the earpiece to stand the fighters up or make the fights more exciting.
People always look at me like I'm crazy when I say my favorite fighter is Jim Miller but, those same people are going to claim to have been fans all along after he retires and the media outlets start doing retrospectives.

Rather surprised that they neglected to even honorably mention Mark Coleman and Randy Couture. Mark Coleman lost 3 in a row, and had to throw a fight to a pro wrestler just to get into Pride and then wasted everyone and won the 2000 open weight grand prix. He retired as a 2 x UFC HW tournament champ, the 1st HW champ, and the 1st Pride tournament champ after. Randy was KO'ed by prime Chuck Liddell within a 1 year period and retired. He came back at age 40, became the UFC Heavyweight champion thereby breaking the dark age of the division in the company, and then successfully defended it. When he finally retired he was a HW champ 3 times, a LHW champ twice, an interim LHW champ, and a HW tournament champ. Also, the first two division UFC champ ever. The guys on this list are impressive but the comebacks of those two are on a whole different level.

It doesn't seserve to be on the list but Johny Hendricks schooled Hector Lombard after 3 straight losses. I thought that was a good one. He never won again.

Cody won last fight against an oponent with 13 wins and 10 losses with last 4 fights being loss streak. Hardly a "comeback". Arlovski was written off at one point and yes he is a gatekeeper now buy he did amazing revival of his career...and what about Mark Hunt?
My dad got rocky mountain tick fever from a tick one time he was in the hospital for a month before they figured out what was wrong with him, he almost died the doc said another week and he'd have been gone.
