They forgot to mention that after devastating kicks from Aldo, Kenny would feel his leg completely numb at random times as he trained. This was also a huge contributing factor in his decision to retire.

I woke up on the mat covered in feces and urine, and someone had dumped pre workout in my mouth to try to revive me. I was convulsing and foaming at the mouth and ears, and the pre workout mixed with the foam and stained my face for 3 weeks. I didnt make it, but I still fight on the local circuit, mostly at bars and on the street. I was one choke away from the UFC.
Donald doesn't need a belt, he is and always will be a fan favorite IMO thats worth more then a belt. Look at Usman, he is a great champion but no one really wants to see him fight.
I see what you’re saying but in terms of combat sports legacy, a championship will always mean more than being a fan favorite, especially if you’ve had multiple shots.

Chael and hendo are the ones that get me - both of those guys were such legends and were so close so many times. That being said I do feel for Benavides

Joseph Benavidez, maybe have lost 5 title shots and as a MMA fighter that leaves you with a feeling of being incomplete, but he still has Megan Olivi. So maybe he doesn't have luck in sports, but in love, he still definitely has. In my book, he's a Champion. So, good luck to him.
Yeah Edgar has too put at least he’s held a belt and defended it. Also the guys he’s lost to in those title shots Henderson Aldo Hollaway are def not anything hang your hat on either and he wasn’t finished in all of them and four of them were very close and 2/3 could have went his way. Joe B lost to one of the greatest ever twice in DJ but was finished brutally the second time and then just finished brutally twice by Figs!

Facts. He was winning everything until gassing. Also had no timing and was eating body shots. I just think it would have played differently with even a four week camp.
Mendes career is full of what-ifs. Had he poured on the ground and pound while he was in a very dominant position instead of going for the guillotine he could have finished Conor, or do what TJ Dillashaw did and leave Team Alpha Male as they were holding his career back.

I understand she's not some people's favorite fighter, but I've always liked her, I also get annoyed when she is boring!! If she'd just "pull the trigger" more, she'd do better!!!
She was already a Champion prior to those losses. Being the Strawweight Champion with 5 consecutive title defences has already cemented JJ's legacy as one of the best female fighters in the world. A far better inclusion would be Holly Holm, who despite managing to become the Bantamweight Champion has only managed to win one out of her four title fights.
It's crap that Chael doesn't have an official title run. They've stripped a champ for missing weight and they've had fights where one guy made weight and was eligible for the belt but the other guy wasn't. I know it was 2 different organizations but they were owned by the same people
Sadly, a part of me still believes that Chael is a pro wrestler at heart, and could have escaped Silva’s submission and ran out the clock to win the belt. But Chael’s commitment to storytelling in the ring made me think he gave up for the sake of the story, and probably believing he could win the gold when he wanted. But the UFC ain’t WWE
I knew a guy in highschool that was a 4 time state runner up. The dude was a beast but there was two 4 time champs that he kept losing to in the finals.

I remember hearing Dan Henderson’s interview at UFC countdown about him wanting to win UFC gold i always thought to myself “what about his tournament win at UFC 17? Are we going to pretend that didn’t exist?”
Some of these guys like Joseph Benavidez could of been dominant champions if it wasn't for one person being in that division at the same time.. Cool list tho! Another person I can think of is Frankie Edgar 4 times in the UFC (Benson rematch, Aldo twice and Holloway) but he was the champ for a bit
The fact that if the champion misses weihht and the challenger doesnt, the champion loses, and the challenger is disqualified from getting the belt, is borderline criminal.

I was playing basketball out in the yard bare footed and I jumped to block a shot, when I landed, I landed in a way that my big toe folded underneath my foot and fucking exploded. It was some of the worst pain I ever felt in my life. This happened in 1991 and I was young...@ 11 or 12. I still, to this day have pain in that area of my foot, along with a metal rod

Honorable mention for Holly Holm. Kicked Ronda's head off to win the bantamweight title, then gets choked out by Tate, "lost" the featherweight belt to DeRandemie (probably misspelled that), got beat up Cyborg in another FW fight, then got decapitated herself by Nunes.
U can't help but to feel bad for cowboy, whooped all them high level fighters and getting highlight reel finishes while doing it just to fall short EVERY TIME he fought for a belt. An also with chael when he lost while being up 4 rounds against Silva, just for him to get submitted in the last round while he's on top dominating the fight with only a few minutes left to go in the fight. As if that's not already bad enough, then u add that he felt like he let his dad down after the promise he made to his dad on his death bed that he'd be a champion. Man, I felt that... I couldn't imagine the pain that man must've felt. 😔💔
Mark Hunt could be on a list like this that wasnt so UFC focused. Guy has fought every top level heavyweight in combat sports. Its bonkers if you look at the list of guys he's fought.
The last 2 videos I've watched have reminded me of Jose Aldos resume! Man his wins give him the old cliche "who's who" list on his record. I guess it's the fact that even the top MMA fighters will understandably lose a few more fights in their career when compared to elite boxers makes it a little easier to forget just how dominate the elite MMA fighters are after a few years! It is much easier to forgive losses in MMA compared to boxing. A boxers entire career can be derailed by just one loss where a even the most elite MMA fighters records may include a few losses. My original point was Aldo is and should be considered one of the greatest fighters of all time by everyone! I hope his losses do not affect the way he is viewed after he retires!
