If I don’t like vegetables what can I do?
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor 2 года назад
@@kneishashepherd2009 Thanks for asking! If you don't like vegetables you want to stick with high fiber fruits as well as all the ground fruits like berries. Additionally, stick to high protein and add in healthy fats from nuts and olive oil. Finally, take a prenatal vitamin to ensure you are getting all the vitamins and minerals you need for your baby. Good luck! If you can, please like my video and subscribe to my channel. It really helps me out! Thanks!

There goes all the good food! I’m so over having gestational diabetes! I’m a picky eater so this has been very hard for me. Eating so much protein and all the fake sweeteners make me nauseous so there’s that too. So I either am nauseous or have high blood sugar.

Hang in there, hopefully it's just temporary. Protein takes a lot of water to digest, if you haven't been increasing your fluid intake you may be slightly dehydrated or lacking electrolytes which can cause flue like symptoms. Sending you love and light.

Hi there. Thanks for your video! Have you got any suggestions on how to lower fasting blood sugar levels? I am 22w and have been put on insulin and metformin. I only started those 4 days ago but even with the insulin injections (6units) a night, my fasting levels are still higher than they’re meant to be. I’m not sure what to do
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor Год назад
Thanks for asking! It does take a few days for your body to get used to the insulin. In the meantime, focus on high protein and healthy fats in your diet. You want to reduce your carbohydrate intake. Many people don't realize that some vegetables have a lot of carbs so make sure you are looking them up. Also, you want to limit high carb fruits and stick to low carb fruits like berries. Ask your healthcare provider for a referral to a nutritionist. Good luck!

Hi, I got my blood sugar test done last week nd it was 174(non fasting). Is there anything to do with fruits like mangoes and litchi?
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor 2 года назад
Thanks for asking! While fruit and lychee are great for you, they are very high in sugar and can contribute to these high numbers. What many people don't realize is that you can develop diabetes from eating fruits and vegetables. Diabetes is about too much sugar and insulin resistance. Too much sugar can be natural sugar. If you like fruit, try to stick with more ground fruits like berries. These have a lower glycemic index. Also, use moderation when eating your favorites like mangoes. Good luck!

Thanks for the video. I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant but with diabetes already. Despite having drastically reduced the amount of carbs I don't get any reading below 130 and most are above 150. I'm hungry all the time. I try to fill up with spinach, lettuce, meat, fish, eggs, 1 Granny Smith apple per day, 1 kiwi or portion of berries per day, courgette, green beans, nuts... but I don't manage to fill full. I can't eat whole grain bread nor potatoes nor rice at all as it spikes my levels above 160 easily. Do you think I can try pulses? Do you know of other foods that would make me fill full? Thank you very much
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor Год назад
Thanks for asking! I am not sure what pulses are. I would make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids. Our bodies will send the hunger signal when we are thirsty and haven't responded to that. You should also focus on protein. It's the lowest in carbs and the longest lasting food. Feel better!

Can you please suggest me something?
@TheMaternityMentor
@TheMaternityMentor Год назад
Thanks for asking! It is probably due to insulin resistance. At this point, I would be asking to be seen by a maternal fetal medicine specialist regarding your diabetes. You probably need to start on insulin injections for the safety of your baby. Poor glucose control can lead to stillbirth. Feel better!

Thanks for asking! Being a vegetarian with diabetes can be tricky. You need to make sure you are limiting carbohydrate high fruits and vegetables. You also need to make sure your protein intake is high enough. Unfortunately a lot of sources of protein for vegetarians are high in sugar like beans. You should probably ask your healthcare provider for a referral to a dietician who can assist with this. Good luck!

Thanks for asking! Insulin is safe for pregnancy and is the preferred and more effective way to treat diabetes. Diabetes can be extremely dangerous during pregnancy so it needs to be treated effectively. Pills take too long, putting your baby at risk. Your insulin usage needs to be monitored closely by your healthcare provider because it will probably change as the pregnancy progresses. Good luck!

You literally just try to lay off the unhealthy carbs as well. And drinks loaded in sugar. Pretty much can eat what you’d eat as if you’d go on a diet. You can also have milk in small amounts like 1 cup at a time and only certain milks. You really just kind of have to use common sense. And also no white bread stick to whole wheat etc
