In no particular order here's few of mine 1. If you are Jon Jones or Conor Mcgregor you can get away with anything, even abusing women and hitting old men 2. Rankings and records don't mean a thing if Dana hates you or you are not popular 3. A lot of the fan base is bat shit insane and among the most fickle I've ever seen. 4. Chael Sonnen is undefeated and undisputed 😂
I have a friend who asked why a guy didn't just punch the other guy while he was mid-spinning backfist. (Don't remember which fight, I just remember the stupid argument that followed lol) As if he would just see the move coming beforehand. "That's what I would've done". Ffs
Yeah i really hate watching fights with other people that don't know much cuz they always be saying some dumb ass shit. I've honestly started ordering fights and watching them at home alone haha it's the best tbh
One thing that's pretty difficult about being an MMA fan is being considered a "hater" when giving any fighter criticism and being called a "fanboy" when saying anything remotely positive about one. There's no such thing as giving any objective observation without the immediate assumption that you're either all-in against a fighter, or blindly supportive of. Gets pretty irritating.
You can say that again. I just got called a racist yesterday on Twitter because I said Jon Jones, the millionaire, had to resort to off-brand viagra that just so happened to contain a banned substance that made him fail a drug test days before a title fight and that along with his other conspiracies he's a cheat and out of the goat conversation. So apparently having said that, that apparently makes me a racist for "hating on a black man".
Your average MMA fan is , most of the time, emotion driven; They tend to project their own wishes and desires on the fighters they like, that's why you see the kind of emotional response you get any time you say anything about a fighter
I've been into it for 20 years training and watching I still think that . I want headbuts back . When headbuts were allowed people almost allways got finished if they were on there back. Hold the wrists and nut them no need to pass Guard or anything. Bring that back and people will be way more inclined to stand and bang like men .
Mario's philosophy of fighting should be taught to future refs and next generations of fighters. His moto is: "You either die a warrior or you live long enough to see yourself become a killer."
@@thedarkcriminal1658 1st stop liking your own comments 2cnd, wtf are you even talking about? Anderson silva is a ceral killer? You are just trying to funny and now excuse away your bs with some more bs hahahah
Yeah it's really frustrating. Look to my favorite fighters list: Khabib, Jones, Romero... Do you see what I see? They all left out of Top UFC competition right now. It's really hard for me to be a fan right now ;-;
@@Sleeepy23 at least romero still fights, I mean it does such not seeing him beast in the ufc, they robbed him on 2 occasions, he shouldn't have been on a losing streak like that, he beat Rob the second time and costa
@@rpg23245 Seriously. They changed the definition of a grounded opponent several times over the years but didn't think once about legalizing 12-6 elbows.
to this day, you will never convince me, that tony an khabib aren't solely responsible for the whole covid 19 pandemic! if that fight were never booked for the last time, then we would still be living in a normal world!
you can't be terrorist and FBI informant. If you are a Criminal, you have your reasons to commit crime, but when you snitch on other guys who commited same crimes as you did just to get your butt saved you are a piece of sh*t.
Whenever I tell a layman that I'm watching the UFC event, they always ask "Oh, who's fighting?" And unless it's Conor, they never know anyone and it's so frustrating. I don't watch Baseball, Basketball or Football but I know most team names and most of the popular players but that's not the case for people who don't normally watch MMA
Wait youre frustrated that casuals don't know fighters unless they are popular like you dont know baseball and baskell players unless they're popular? 🧐
The ufc should do Grand Prix events man. That’s the best part about Bellator, Rizin, and ONE. The tournaments are what made mma in the first place. That’s how the ufc started
@@oggTemp i think so too... i guess it would be a nightmare to get those fights sanctioned on the evening itself, plus its likely the whole thing falls apart when fighters can't get medically cleared for the finals etc.
Last isolation one is so true i had neighbours over for ufc 266 and the entirety of jessica andrades fight and interveiw one of my neighbors was screaming "thats a guy!!!" and laughing and just repeating that casuals are not only clueless but also just downright disrespectful sometimes! I sent them home and said the card was done after lawler vs diaz loll
The timing of this video is amazing. Nate just got offered the Chimeav fight, confirming that fighters get fed to younger wolves before they leave to lower their stock
God it’s always bittersweet seeing Cecil mentioned in videos as a shitty judge and ref because I know the guy and he is nice guy but I guess not a good official lol.
@@GlennDavey was also thinking this, but I also understand the thrill of seeing something "as it's happening" Hard to hate on a fellow diehard fan based on their geographic location.
@@GlennDavey so youre ok with more cards being at 8:00 pm in europe then right? I mean I know that means the main card starts at about 6:00 am where youre from but like you said you can just watch it at anytime thats convinient for you so that wont be a problem right?
I didn't know that, also he was gonna tell the world about all the high ranking government officials and celebrities that are pedos and got killed for it?
ONE and Bellator are doing them quite frequently, but the issue is that it is so rare that they go off without a hitch and nobody has to drop out with injury.
Can we get an 8 man king of the ring in ufc. Last man standing wins the title. Like wwe years ago but this is real. Get a man over the ring and out then he is eliminated or ko him in the ring he is eliminated. Im just joking but it would be fun to watch
McGregor's continued relevance despite being 1-3 out of the last 6 years. technically 1-4 if you count the Mayweather fight. and let's be honest, the Cowboy fight was a gimme, I'm not convinced Cowboy didn't throw it.
Agreed with #1. Im happy to avoid watching it in large crowds, I remember the crowd surges at the pub when conor fought, with people who had no idea turning up and chatting shit, or had a tiny bit of knowledge and again, just chatted shit.
Oh man. You spoke my soul with the last entry. Particularly about the isolation, but also the pain of explaining and just reverting back with slumped shoulders to strong coffee and high fiving yourself 😂
Last one hits hard. Last fight I stayed up for was Fury Wilder 3. Last MMA bout I stayed up for was Volk vs Ortega. Being a fight fan is tough outside the US. Plus very few people care about MMA
@@shahidabdoullakhanzorovr1564 McGregor was retired dude. Khabib literally called him out. He wanted to fight McGregor. Everybody wants to fight him. Would you rather fight insane creature Tony on a massive winstreak and make some money or 2 year retirement McGregor but make so much money you could retire early, which Khabib did. He chose wisely.
Without watching the video I will say that the #1 thing you have to put up with as an MMA fan is having to be part of the MMA community to begin with. We have some of the most toxic, fickle, short term memory fans.
In reference to 4:35 Here is some behind the scenes knowledge on fighters that do not have Wikipedia pages. I have been an editor on Wikipedia for many years in the MMA section. The main thing that qualifies a fighter for a page on Wikipedia is passing the notability requirements. They must have fought at least three times in a top tier promotion. What is considered a top-tier promotion varies throughout time however there is a diagram on Wikipedia to refer to when looking at this anyways I digress sometimes just because a fighter does not have a Wikipedia page does not mean they are not a dangerous and capable athlete for instance Jiri Prochazka, up until he defeated Dominic Reyes recently he did not have a Wikipedia page either and he is ranked 2nd at light heavyweight and just got his... That's just an example what I'm saying is the reasons some fighters do not possess a page on Wikipedia does not reflect their skill in the octagon merely the qualification standards of the website don't get me wrong there are just people from the regional scene that are "nobody's" too tho
Number one reason has a solution. Just head over to a local Buffalo Wild Wings. Most of the time they have a PPV and the fans you watch with there usually know their stuff.
You’ve missed the main part of the last point, which is that for the most part people are screwed over my time zones. That wouldn’t be an issue if they could go to Buffalo Wild Wings because they’d already be in the states
@@TY-gh2yf yeah, I know. I feel for the European fans for sure. Same with states in the East Coast. Those cards in New York can go till 3am sometimes. They need more ppvs in London, Russia and Japan.
Finally a MMA channel that don't try to hide the 'friendship' between Kadyrov and Nurmagamedov, and people still consider him like the good humble guy, I don't get it.
Because most people aren't stupid. They're not friends. Abdul Manap wasn't his friend either. Khabib has no choice but to remain friendly with him. Khabib may seem like a force of nature in the UFC but he's practically a nobody in politics. Even Putin can't do much about Kadyrov. Kadyrov has ordered hits on prominent people before. You want Khabib to take a stand against him and risk his family and students? Get real.
100% agree with all of this. I would also add the fact we have to fork out loads of cash all the time for the big fights, or scour the state for any bar/restaurant playing then. While Football fans can go just about anywhere or simply flick on their local TV station. Simply saying "I'm a UFC fan" gives you looks from people as if you DO mma and they want to test you. 🤦🏾♂️ UFC fight pass is absolute TRASH. Also the eye pokes...daaaamn the eye pokes.
Just saw this pop up after seeing unranked Alex Pereira vs Sean Strickland be considered a title eliminator, just an extremely frustrating fact is that no matter what, if you have enough hype the matchmakers won’t care and neither will the “fans”
is it just me or do these guys always make me feel bad for being a mma fan and or ufc fan?? And i love this channel i watch every video sometimes watch the watch along but just saying lol. Love the channel Tommy, Tom. Jason and Luke are the shit and all have great insight and thoughts on mma..
Another tthing the promotions need to do in order to become bigger and more popular: Do it like in Boxing: WBC Champ vs WBA Champ vs WBO Champ vs IBF Champ vs IBO Champ.
I cant believe they miss the most annoying thing about MMA. The number 1 contenders not fighting for the belts!! Seriously what's the point of rankings if they don't mean anything?!?!
Related to the international issue. England had a UFC event but it was still held at USA time. So even when it is in my country I still can't watch it live.
I liked it when UFC 1st absorbed Pride FC and was doing events all over the world. To be honest tho, I really miss Pride FC, they were the pinnacle of MMA, and really had a majesty about it, especially with the one night tournaments and grand prix where fighters would fight up to three opponents in the same night, open weight tournaments, and the freakshow matches.
One thing that sucks is that if you have a favorite fighter people act like you're weird. But liking a whole team that constantly trades players is totally fine lol
The Cosmo Alexandre argument is weak when you try to make a point about geographical limitations. He is Brazilian, you know the second biggest nationality represented in the UFC. There is definitely talent in other organizations that could compete with the best of the UFC, but other companies have sometimes the better offers financially. And in Cosmos case, he fights primarily in kickboxing and muay thai, in which he can compete in in the same organization in which he fights in mma. So that example adds nothing to your point.
#1 I live in Riverside California and there's multiple bars that hold the event with a cover charge to watch the fight... When I was in the military in Georgia and New York I'd go to Buffalo Wild wings to watch the fight. That's just a horrible excuse for #1
This list is missing the cost of being a UFC fan. If you buy every ppv the cost is typically around $1k a year, which is insane, let alone ESPN+, merch, and going to a live event. This is the only sport where you have to pay this much money to be a fan
Conor and till can avoid the Irish cartel... You dont avoid kadyrov. If you have friends and family in the caucasus you do as you are told and not slight an incredibly sensitive and pretty dictator. He threatened to kill anyone who may have taken his cat... And mobile phone. Pretending like khabib/islam ignore the dude is nieve.
my spontaneous list while listening to the video. What do you think? 1) MMA Fan culture is frankly quite asinine 2) Bad pro Wrestling (fake) trashtalk 3) Fighters can get injured in training camp (pullouts or fighting below full potential) 4) Unified Rules 5) Some become champ and become inactive in order to stretch out the time with the belt (at least in ufc) 6) The athletes make mean faces in their tale of the tape pics 7) :D when you talk to your friends you call it "Ultimate Fighting" so they know what you mean :D
lol i was watching ufc 267 with a non fan the other day and he actually said "I don't think choking them should be allowed" while Khamzat was choking Leech. I said to him "I'd much rather be choked out then knocked out, one you just take a little nap and the other you possibly get brain damage."
Honestly I feel for the the European crowdI feel for you guys I’m in the U.S. and I feel I have missed out on so many great fighters men and women because of the “hype and draw from the U.S. as a martial artistist” I want mote
Petr Yan and Ciryl Gane are my favorite fighters, Petr Yan has been since Faber, and honestly I don't mind them not fighting often, adds to the experience when it's more rare, quality or quantity
11:26 I agree with this BUT Everyone who’s seen Cosmo fight before knew he was going to straight up starch Northcutt. I mean this must’ve only been a surprise to ‘casuals’
